Has PGA done enough to get the thrillseekers atten

I believe that PGA has not done enough to get the thrillseekers attention. They have no thrill rides except Stealth,Top Gun, and Drop Zone. Other than that, they haven't brought a real thrill ride to the Bay Area. Wake up PGA and smell the competition!
I'm with you!

"Does anyone know what type of dog spot is?
A Cedar Pointer!"
pfft.. Whine, Whine.. That's all I hear from people who at least get decent attractions..

Come to Canada's Wonderland, Wait a minute.. We are getting a Top Scan..

Ok I,m not complaining anymore..
I TOTALLY agree. I enjoy ANY coaster I ride, be it a junior coaster or a giga. However, on my recent trip to the bay area, I was VERY underwhelmed by PGA and it's coasters. After one or 2 rides on each coaster, we went back to SFMW and Santa Cruz, spending the rest of our time on Medusa, Roar, and the Giant Dipper.

With the addition of V2, SFMW is climbing more in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, next time I'm in the Bay Area I'll go back to PGA and have fun riding their coasters, but you'll find me spending a lot more time at the other SanFran area parks.

PGA does have good coasters. Top Gun is the best in the park. Intense, fast. Vortex is the same. Demon is a good ride too.

Best Coaster: Millennium Force
Worst Coaster: Project Stealth
They need to build a good B&M looper like Medusa or get a CCI woodie in place of the Grizzley. Six Flags Marine World beat PGA anyday just with Medusa.
Having been to both parks last September, I must say that I believe PGA has done a lot to get thrillseeker's attention. I don't understand some of the negative reaction to Stealth, I mean you FLY
for gosh sakes!! The first drop where you swoop towards the ground and back up again was something out of a dream; refuse to hold onto the restraints (you'll be fine), place your hands up and out, keep your eyes wide open and you feel like a superhero. No other ride so far can duplicate this feeling. I know the next generation sounds and looks better, but this prototype kicks serious butt!!! And 7th portal has potential.

I think any park that drops $15+ million on a world-first ride like Stealth is out to get the thrill-seekers attention. Any reasonable person would agree.

Of course, there's a risk involved in doing that. You could have maintenance problems (like SOB), a late opening (like Volcano) or even miss a whole season (like both Mr. Freeze rides). Then again, some may think that your ride isn't so great after all.

On the other hand, PGA management are people, too. Why would they go out on a limb and introduce another new, conceptual coaster or thrill ride--if posts like yours are the payoff?

They do what they have to so attendence levels are maintained. It is a nice park, and your season pass is good at other Paramount Parks. Look at it this way. You have a great movie/themed theme park. You have a marine life park that has come back from the dead with a great package of rides and shows. And you can drive down to Santa Cruz for a great boardwalk that is only second to Wildwood in New Jersey. And, you have an extended operating season. Be Happy.
i think PGA is good but i agree we need a big coaster that is atleast hyper or B&M but PGA is a great park . when last year i first went to PGA like 3 times and after that i stepped in SFMW i was so bored. the only ride was good is medusa and like medusa i mainly the only big attraction.. roar is good to but MEDUSA and Roar and V2 and Kong is all in one spot whihc SFMW is so big you have to walk so far just to ride VOODOO or something. in PGA every corner has a ride so i say PGA is better in a way

PGA is doing quite well.
PGA has gotten away from the tradition old style amusment park when they added Invertigo in 1998 and ever scence then have added big time rides, or made key improvements. I think what there getting this year is good depending on how the wild mouse is. 7th portal won't bring a bunch of extra revenue to the park I know that is certain, People aren't going to say , "Lets spend a day at PGA to ride 7th portal!" It will be a contributer to making the park better though. I love the atmosphere the music, the rides and the great landscaping! SFMW is just different. Bommerang, Roar, Kong, Medusa, and now V2 are a great collection of coasters. The flat rides are the best there is but when I went I hated the sevice and the lines because of one train operation. PGA should get a B&M floorless or sitdown in 2002 not a CCI. I think a CCI is needed becuase Girzzley sucks. I think a B&M looper would attract a bunch more people but if PGA's hight requiement is bad then B&M loopers are too big. I also think that a B&M looper would be tough to fit I mean look at Medusa! That thing is just HUGE it is high and, it takes a bunch of room up. Yeah there is land outside the park but its not going to be exactly easy. I love PGA and it is pretty much going to me my favorite park unitl I die I hope they do whats best!
PGA just finished adding Stealth which is a GREAT ride. This year they are adding rides which attract the whole family. From what I have heard, they are planning on getting a new woodie for 2002. Let's keep our fingers crossed. But, SFMW can't hold a candle to PGA. Be happy and stop nagging about PGA.
now that i think about it (im a SFMW fan) PGA has a much better atmosphere i especially like the new orleans section. There are lots of trees and flowers and great themeing. lets just say if you like high tech thrills go to SFMW if you like family atmosphere and a nice envirnment go to PGA.

are you ready to go vertical?...V2 2001...
I'll give SFMW that much, but since SFMW is pretty much a new park in a way, they need to add these new coasters. PGA has then but as well, needs to continue to add them. Let's hope these two parks will continue to bring great thrills to the Bay Area in the years to come!
Sorry to seem like a grump but, THIS FORUM IS ABOUT PGA not sfmw. PGA is doing alot to attract Thrill seekers, but they are also keeping in mind that families are a huge business.
More business = more $$$. More $$$ equals better spending potential. This ultimatly means BIGGER COASTERS AND THRILL RIDES! WEEEEEEEEEE! Ok that said, its time to be a hypocrite. Expect PGA to build at least one coaster a year for a while to stay ahead of SFMW. Now i think the best thing for both of these parks is............each other. Just look at all the people who have posted on this forum who have gone to both of the parks just to compare coasters. When one park builds a new one the other will try to out do it. i say..... THRILLSEEKERS AROUND THE COUNRTY, COME ONE, COME ALL, AND WITNESS FIRSTHAND THE BATTLE OF THE THRILL RIDES!
yup SFMW and PGA is really into competition. In our channel 44 UPN or cable 12 we have commercials of PGA and SFMW on da same channel. yea so if they make much money 2001 year PGA can bring 2 coasters!!!!! my sources say CCI woodie, INTAMIN Hyper , and TA2k we can just be like SFMM with 3!! eheheh i hope tho
PGA needs a Hyper coaster like RAGING BULL like SFGAm so they both can still be alike with same coasters.. well PGA did plan to put a 175ft high JUNIOR HYPERCOASTER maybe it will come along with a woodie in 2002 (i hope)
I think they are doing good. However, they desperately need a long rollercoaster. They all seem to be a little on the short side and leaves me wanting a little more. . .

Who likes the music at PGA??! It stinks ever since Paramount took over and started playing Michael Jackson. Bring back the ragtime!!!!!
