Has A Ride-Op Ever Hit On You?!?!

I hope I'm not hit on for another year or two (I just turned 14). I mean it would be cool to be hit on by a 17 year old girl but it would also be kind of scary.

HAHA!!!   Well, im 14 and I got hit on at cedar point:)  it was the Super Himalaya, and me and my 5 year old bro. got on.  This chick (most likey 17) said "your little brother is so cute." and winked at me:)  Then she stappled me into the seat and whispered something into the other ride ops ear and she had her eyes glued on me for the entire ride....   to bad it only lasted for 2 minutes:(

It's happened to me before. The weird thing is that one of them ends up at a party at my house years later as someone's boyfriend. Weird how that kind of thing happens!

I haven't hit on anyone before, but I have had GP hit on me many times while working....mostly because they want to ride again though!

Yeah, Chiller!  It's like you are a cop, and a hot chick is hitting on you in hopes of having you tear up her ticket.  It has never happened to me personally, but I wish it would, especially in Japan.  Daddy likes!!!! ;)

"I worked at Carowinds for 3 years in the late 80s

1st year thunder road, meteorite(scream weaver),swings we had "groupies" girls who would hang out at the operators station and try to talk to us we watched the ride but the attention was nice

2nd year at the goldrusher we had a system for pointing out girls to each other we would say "32" that meant 3rd car second seat

3rd year on rip roaring rapids we talked this gorgeous blonde into riding the ride several times to get wetter and wetter and of coursewe would call ahead to the next ride observation spot to tell fellow employees when there was a beauty coming and what boat she was in"

While I understand we are human, that 3rd year thing is pushing it for a ride operator. You just admitted you (and your crew) would be paying attention to the girl as opposed to the ride. Thats pretty sickening. When you are a ride op it is your job to watch the ride, operate the ride, ensure guests safety. Not letting a wet t-shirt contest break out on your ride.

And I do understand we are human, and that as humans we will check out members of the opposite sex (or the same sex if your into that type of thing), but your a ride operator! You are responsible for thousands of peoples safety each and everyday, and not being 100% focused on that could (and in some cases) does create problems (injuries, deaths, etc)...Believe me, I know what happens when ride operators focus on other things (I work at SFMM)

Yeh when I was on Roar at SFMM a guy operator hit on me and then at PGA a girl did on Grizzly, I guess it's just the woodies. I have been hit on tons of times though by normal people lol.

No, but I've seen people hit on ride ops.

To pxpxpunkrawker   That third year girl only re rode the ride once and we were working the exit platform(rip roaring rapids doesnt allow guests to ride up the lift and exit where they got on) so we were watching the guest as she and the people on her boat were the only ones there

I was just replying to this post about ride ops hitting on guests from a former ride ops perspective    but I agree ride ops should watch the ride first so I wont argue that point

All the time! Oh....I thought you said "hit you". :)

Two minutes huh? That's about normal....hehehehe

Honestly, I get hit on all the time (maybe it's my winning smile :)). But, I thought it was funnier when I was @ KW and one of the Phantom's Revenge ops was hitting on GregLeg...I swear I saw him blush ;)

Divorced From Dependence since 1987!"

Mrow!? Yeah, I know that chick. She's gross eh?

Nah seriously, I did my fair share of flirtation when I was a ride operator, but it went the other way too. A few times I even had guests ask to take pictures with me. And when I worked on Thunder Canyon I can verify that the guys paid a bit of attention to the girls wearing white, tight, or otherwise attention-drawing shirts (or lack thereof) on and off the water ride.

And then there was this one guy I flirted with when working on Mine Ride this past year, and I'm actually posting this from his house right now. I'm sure he'll be chiming in to this thread once I show it to him...

Flirt, me, never?

Its threads like this that can get me in trouble!

You know its bad when you have members of both sexes hitting on you.

are you a guy or gal RCTitan?  if you're a guy thats just wrong and sick.  I know I hit on girls alot while i was working rides.

Don't be such a HOMOPHOBE dude, you are offending alot of people.  I guess we all were in high school at one point...  but please, remember where hate starts.  Either way, I think it's a compliment to be hit on by anyone, you should be happy.  What if nobody ever hit on you, that wouldn't be fun.
But really, while you're working on a ride?  That's dangerous territory.  People are looking to you as an authority and safety.  We were scared to death to do that kinda thing when I worked at Cedar Point, we were trained to be 'safety robots' there.  (We are 138 for all those who get it :)

You think that is bad, check this out.  Volcano ride op team in 2000.  Two girls were there (I think twins) and one was checking the seatbelts and the other was dispatching trains.  Was in line for the front so I had the "honor" to hear it all.  She was so busy checking out this guy towards the back of the line, had enough time to call her sister (they looked like twins, sorry), tell her to get his phone #, and stopped him in front of his wife on the way out to ask him for that.  But in the process, they forgot to check for a clear and also forgot to check the entire right side of the train.

That is too far in my opinion.  Mild things I could see but that is just pushing it, especially with some of the gestures being made between ops and also the conversation over the phone

I wouldnt feel too comfortable being hit on by another guy, but I only WISH I would get hit on by a female ride op! I wish I had rode Cedar Creek Mine ride more often last time I was there. Perhaps I might have been flashed. :) That would be very nice.
