"Gray-Outs" on Coasters

Yesterday I came sort off close to blacking out at the 2nd helix on Titan. But the 1st helix which is higher speed and more turns the goliaths helix did not seem to bother me at all its just the extreme g-forces.And the turns are smaller on the 2nd helix
I greyed out once on the final part of King Cobra's helix. I think I was holding my breath for some reason right before that.

Gray outs for me include Busch Gardens Tampa's Kumba (flat helix right after tunnel at end of ride), vertical loop on X-Flight at SFWOA, and Face/Off at PKI. I can't say I enjoy that feeling.

i started blacking out on the first drop and first turn of MF...scared me a little after hearing about the lady who died on goliath...

Shockwave... All the time, to the point where the ride is no longer fun. But I'm an idiot, so I still ride it.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me an obscene number of subsequent times, shame on me.

Front, back, middle. I try the old military pilot technique where you tense up your legs in order to keep the blood out of your feet. The problem with Shockwave is that I usually grey out on the second loop, meaning I still have one more hi-g loop to contend with. For God's sake, try bracing yourself for the turn after the loops while you're barely able to see the track.

It happened to me on Deja Vu as well, going backwards from the second drop tower. I was near the back (6-B) and not being able to see the track, it took me by surprise. It was short lived, however. There is not nearly enough speed through the course backwards to cause any g-force related damage.

I greyed out on Titans first helix 2 of the 3 times i rode it last summer. Some people dont like it and find ways to avoid it but its awesome. Cant wait till july 9 and 10 to ride it again
I also "gray out" on Millennium Force at the bottom of the first hill into the first overbanked turn. Glad to know that I'm not alone in this. :-)
I "grayed out" on Goliath's helix, also known as the centrifuge. It is very intense and a great part of the ride. Also, I've sort of grayed out on Batman: The Ride at SFMM. That coaster is a very intense ride packed into such a small area. I love it!

mmm, roller coaster

I find that the only times I have problems (and only on B:TRs and Invertigos) is when I dont yell. I think that the screaming (or activity in the head) is enough to keep the blood flowing well. BTW they also teach military pilots to "grunt" to avoid blacking out.

Double ERT on Goliath....I actually find the "grey-outs" enjoyable.....kinda neat to feel your peripheral vision closing in, and the tunnel-vision taking over.....

SFMM really did try to make up for the loss of X to the Con line-up, and I give them credit.....if only I'd gotten that solitary ride on Flashback......er, Z-Force.....but the ERT schedule at SFMM was certainly a big hit. I missed one ERT session at their park over four days (Viper and Revolution) - the rest were amazing!

Yeah, I was about to say, I'd think screaming would be similar to bearing down (grunting), forcing blood to your head as well.

You'd also probably be more likely to black out if your blood sugar was low.

I'm surprised I've never greyed/blacked out. Just saw stars a few times.

I've blacked out on shockwave during the second loop. and I've greyed out on batman the ride. I slightly greyed out on nemesis.
Millennium Force's first overbank... every time.

I got a B&M T-shirt!

I have gotten them on the Ninja at SFStL heading into the headchopper. Just a bit of grey creeping in from the sides of my vision.

Steel - Millennium Force
Generic, isn't it?

Talon was my first gray-out. I was not expecting the ending to be so intense. Especialy the corkscrew. That feeling was great.

Have you hugged a Beemer today?
I almost blacked out on the Lazer, first and second loops. I love that thing. Considering the amount of land it takes up, it's the best steel coaster I've ever been on.

How many rides must a man go on, before you may call him a fan?

I grayed out once at SFWoA on B:KF, hadn't eaten anything all day or anything to drink. After that though I got to sit around while my brother was stuck on S:UE. The park gave him $5 in park $$. He bought a souveiner cup and I drank almost the whole thing. He was a little mad about that, but it was better for me. Next time that day we went on B:KF I was fine.

Only minor trouble I ever had was in the loop on X-Flight.

Millennium Force - Any other questions?

Damn, alot of you seem to have problems.

Only problem i ever had was at the bottom of the first drop on MF, and entering the first overbank(4.5 G's). And come to think of it, this was after 4-6 consecutive rides on raptor, and its high-G helix. Thats the only prob i ever had, and i only saw stars. Didnt grey out, feel dizzy, or anything.

BTW, maybe we should watch these topics a little. Before you know it, Markey will have this whole thread printed and have it in a courtroom as evidence, claiming that coasters are "harmfull, or dangerous".

-Why a car if i could have a coaster train on wheels??

One time I was on Beastie at PKI and a storm was coming in. I looked up and said, "Look, its grey-out!" Does that count?

OK the bad joke's over.

EDIT: I can't spell
