The most likely answer is the exact response of someone like you.

Admittedly, the "13-year-old AOLer" crowd hasn't exactly proven their merit with regards to their sourcing of information or their mastery of basic grammar, but the simple fact remains that there are, in fact, some young'uns who do know a thing or two. Zima comes off as one of them to me.

Then there's the other end of the spectrum: by the same token (forgive me if it seems like I'm playing Devil's Advocate here), there are a great deal of "older people" who certainly haven't developed a particularly impressive store of knowledge, wisdom, or responsibility. And part of the responsibility of age is to be able to educate and nurture the young'uns, so as to avoid situations like this where "the kids" are stupid and ignorant.

That means not turning around and presuming that just because you have an extra year or two on some kid means you possess more worldly knowledge than he does. There are probably very few people in history who "got it" more than Anne Frank, and she was unfortunately taken well before that wisdom could ever be put to use. Bottom line: appearances are deceiving.

So, to the young'uns, your intuitive knowledge will speak for itself; you have nothing to prove to anyone.

And to the old'uns, you don't either.
