Compared to any of the SROS rides, both rides feel under-developed, and over trimmed.

RB is in my husband's top 5 coasters, and we both feel that RB has the most comfortable trains we've ever been on. My husband even commented that it's the first coaster he's ever heard me "giggle" all the way through the ride.

I think reaging bull is much better. I worked on Raging Bull during the 2000 season so I might be alittle biased but who cares. Goliath was pretty cool but the bull was better. To get maximum air on the bull leave the lap bar as high as possible and lean forward with arms straing ahead and you fly!!!!Greg, is that you?! Dude, I lost your email! Email me at NitroJoeC@charter.net when you get a chance bud!
Now about which drop is better...easily Raging Bull's. When I first rode that thing in the back it scared the living crap out of me. I had been on Magnum and Steel Force at that time, and this drop put those to SHAME.
Even after all these years, it's still one of the best drops on a hyper. I only like MF's (due to sheer height) and EGF's drop more. And the trains on Bull are simply perfect, they allow you to experience the full effect of the airtime instead of cramming you into a tiny Gio or Intamin car.

Joe - I would have to agree with you 100%. The first drop on Bull is awesome. The first time I rode the ride in April 1999 during training/testing, I was blown away. My favorite seat would be the left side of the train 3 clicks and off we go. The airtime possible for someone is crazy on that first drop. Taking the Camel Back Trimless is awesome as well. The difference is very noticeable and makes the ride seem so much faster. I simply love Raging Bull, great coaster. Original Crew 1999. Chris
As far as Goliath is concerned. I went to SFMM the first summer Goliath opened and was totally stoked for this ride. Here's where it started getting bad. First off they wouldnt let me ride solo in the back. Bummer. The design is cool and it has a great look. The drop is just not there. It feels as if you are being gently dragged over the top. Secondly the first turnaround is so uneventful. They could have banked the intitial turn rather than it being almost a flat turn. Now I did like the little bunny hill and the intensinty was a plus, but overall a huge dissappointment. Let me say that TITAN was a huge improvement but not over the Bull.

The trims were not activated on the third hill *prior* to opening day in 1999. However, the very first day of public operation (May 1, 1999 I believe) the third hill trim had been activated. I remember walking into work (I was on the opening crew as well) and hearing some weird noise I hadn't heard before. Sure enough, that trim was hitting.
I still maintain that even with that trim, you get plenty of airtime on the third hill and throughout the rest of the ride. Heading into its fifth season at the park, Raging Bull is still in my top 10 out of over 450 coasters. They must have done something right. ;)

In the year of 2050 they will have coasters over 1000 ft. I bet you my life... (and i will be 89 then and will be the first to ride it.)

Yeah, but what does *your* opininon matter? You think NITRO is #1 (steel) ;)
Anyway, I, of course will side with the "bullers" as RB is my #1 (steel). I've not ridden big G, but have ridden little bro Titan. I was SO expecting to be blown away by Titan, yet was not. It was mildly amusing, but not even the best steel coaster in it's own park (that would go to Mr. Freeze). It's likely my least favored hyper. Dont get me wrong, I did NOT dislike Titan, it just didnt overwhelm me. In the words of Simon Cowell "It was good, but...so what?"

Hey, now, NITRO runs circles around Bull! ;) Nice use of a Simon Cowell quote too, lol.
Kevin,
I did in fact ride it fifty-one times before it opened to the public (yikes, I actually remember the number!) which was pre-trimmage. I rode twice prior to the commercial shoot and media day (20 rides in the commercial shoot, 29 during media day) and it was very good, but wasn't my favorite (that was still Montu at the time).
However, my very first ride for the commercial shoot was taken in row nine on the yellow train, right side -- that had #1 coaster written all over it! It is such a crowd pleasing coaster, I really couldn't get enough of it. It stayed at number one the entire summer (even after SRoS at SFDL, Apollo's Chariot, Medusa, Volcano, Dragons, etc) and was dethroned one Millennium Force broke in mid - 2000. It sits at #6 on my steel coaster rankings as of now, and gave one *incredible* ride last October (right Keith, Julie, Tim, Nick, Kris, and Clay?!), which is why it continues to get rated that highly by me and others.
And yes, the airtime was *explosive* on all the hills, just like it usually is now. I definitely get more than just a "family friendly float" on the first, third, block and final turnaround the lift drops!

rGw (since you're all about the big G), I completly forgot about Steel Force, mainly because it was such a forgettable ride. You're probably right that it is indeed on the bottom of the list (even behind the smaller but vastly more enjoyable Steel Eel). But we dont even have to talk about SF...do we?!? ;)

It's like a Whirlwind inside of my head!
When you worked at Six Flags were the trims activated before the ride opening? I believe they are weight sensored. Last year they didn't come on til about the 2nd heavy train completed the circuit.

Pre- May 1, 1999, the trims on Raging Bull were not on. I remember asking one of the B&M guys (Fabrice, in fact) when they would be turned on...he said, "Summer." I'm assuming he meant when it got warmer.
Well for whatever reason, they were activated on opening day and have been that way ever since.
Now if you're speaking of the trims being activated before the ride opens for the *day* then yes, they are still activated then. They aren't necessarily weight sensored -- they are speed sensored. If an empty train goes over a certain speed on a very warm day, the trims will still hit, just like if a full train doesn't hit that same speed on a very cold day, the trims won't touch the train.
Does that make sense? :)
