German news article about Stengel and SFGADV

Balder is a pretty wild layout, more so than Colossus.
Well, if they are going for a record breaker, which wouldn't be such a big surprise, they could always do something more like SoB with large swooping helicies. Almost a hyper twister. Don't think that would be too far out of Intamin's design ability.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

NO! No swooping helicies please. A 200+ foot Colossos/Shivering Timbers out and back will work for me. I know it won't fit in the Viper plot, so I am giving premission to also remove RT for this ride. ;)

P.S. Thank you to the poor soul who gave up his/her job to give us this great news. :)

If it is true, I could see them replacing Rolling Thunder with it. Not a bad trade, Viper and Rolling Thunder for a hot new woodie. Maybe they would maintain this one too!
They just repainted Thunder and dumpped a ton of money into it. I doubt its going anywhere. Viper Yes!! Maybe the ride station entrance will be by Kingda Ka and be park of the Golden Jungle and the tail of it will be where Viper is!

Thanks,
DMC

The ride was confirmed in front of the planning board last night.

Let the rumors swirl.

For those who are disbelievers...look down at G. 2. a. of this...from the Jackson Township homepage Meeting Agenda for last night...

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

That's amazing. SFGAd is truely the flagship SF park. Who would have thought this 10 years ago. Chiller, Medusa, Nitro, SUperman, KK, The WOodie, etc. So very cool.

Perhaps that explains why they're letting SFMM rot?
Moosh I don't think SF is letting MM rot.

MM

1999 Canyon Blaster,2000 Goliath, 2001 De ja Vu, 2002 X, 2003 Scream, 2004 nothing

GADV

1999 Blackbeard,2000 nothing, 2001 Nitro,2002 nothing, 2003 Superman, 2004 nothing 2005 KK and 2006 Unknown

I am sure you know all that but maybe they have something huge planned for SFMM in the next year or two. Or maybe cause they go all those pro types fixing them before anything new is what they wanna do. Just an idea.

Is it possible that SF could have ordered more than one of these babies for 2006?

I was wondering how any kind of serious coaster would fit on Viper's plot without a lot of tree removal. I'm assuming that is what will happen unless this is going to be a junior coaster (which I seriously doubt). I also find it a little odd since the park has traditionally gone "back and forth" from one side of the park to the other when building new coasters:

1993: Batman (right side)

1995: Viper (left side)

1997: Chiller (right side)

1999: Medusa (left side)

2001: Nitro (right side)

2003: Superman (well, this breaks tradition- kinda in the middle)

2005: Kingda Ka (left side)

I had always assumed this was to keep one side of the park from getting clogged with traffic from new coasters.

Here is an over head shot of where Viper is. I think it could fit.

There was rumors last year of using that whole lake front area. And I've seen some photos of that area since opening day and The Bridge next to Medusa that heads to Viper is closed and so is the sidewalk right after the entrance to the Bull ride. So it could be possible to clear all the trees out and also head back toward the front of the park along the lake front. *** Edited 5/18/2005 1:20:02 PM UTC by Crashmando***

I'm at a loss of words. I'm not going to lie that I'm a little jealous of Six Flags pouring oddles of cash into the park. I'm not bashing, I'm most definitly excited to visit Great Adventure in the future, with so many coaster's I have not yet rode. But I hope SF makes the right decesions for the 2006 season when it comes to spending investements in the parks that are in need. I'm still baffled that now after KK they'd bring in another contender of a coaster. After seeing so many pictures of the park I'd have to say if it were to take the place of viper to big woodies next to each other would look kinda odd.

"the only thing I know is that life is short and the only time you've got left is luck"
"All they need to go to is a little over 200 feet and they would have the worlds tallest and fastest steel coaster AND the worlds tallest and fastest wooden coaster."

Son of Beast is already 215ft. They'll have to go larger than a little over 200ft. to get the record.

Even with the trees removed, that plot of land looks kinda small for what will probably be a decent-sized wood coaster. Not to mention the fact that it will probably be crossing that river quite a few times. Still, I'm excited... Kingda what?

I am way sure that Werner Stengel is afraid for his job...;)

OK, maybe not! :)

Crashmando, I don't think Mamoosh is talking about coaster additions, but rather the other upgrades that SF is making to SFGADV, like highly themed new areas and taking out horrible coasters. In this case, SF is letting it's west coast counterpart rot.
Wh ycant the coaster be intertwined with rolling thunder?

Why cant it go over and under it? I think that would be cool.

makes sense as to why they are redoing rt. IF there are new coasters on 2 sides of it it better be in good shape lol.

Is anyone else having problems with the link to the NJ Planning board website?
