Workers recently started taking down X-Flight from its Geauga Lake location along Ohio 43 near the park's front gate, said Bryan Edwards, a Geauga Lake spokesman. The ride is destined for another park owned by Cedar Fair LP, the parent company of Geauga Lake.

Why don't they just come to me in the first place...would save them a season getting Steel Venom down to Charlotte... :)
What was SF thinking when they put JJ in? did they not realize that PKD already had an exact clone of the ride built some three seasons earlier? I guess not.
What with Renegade being added I don't see VF as a contender to recieve X-Flight,although they might just keep it in storage for a while before deciding on what park to send it to.
DeepThroat
My coaster count is bigger than YOURS, so nyah...
Seriously, did those guys go to "business school" on the playground? ROFL! ;)
On to the name-chaing thing brought up by Dave and Jeff: Ignoring the *generations* of people who knew Geauga Lake effectively cut off the park from its past, and the people who had attended the park in the past. "This is the first roller coaster grandma ever rode, back when she was dating your grandfather 50 years ago"....no coaster count in the world can replace the kind of customer loyalty that develops over time - and keeps a business afloat in the "tough times"...
So why would they put it in? a) it's outside, not inside b) it's a popular ride c) not that many people are aware that they are the same ride outside of us enthusiasts and d) It gives Premier whose headquarters are literally right down the road (about thirty-minutes away) a ride to demonstrate for clients.
Hmmm...did anyone else read that rumor about Batwing not opening for 07'? I'd believe it as the trains were a total mess on Labor Day.
I however do not see it coming here though as we have heard numerous times from their PR staff that we are not getting a coaster in 2007 -- however things always change.
Or is WoF already going to be *busy* during the '07 offseason... ;)
bill, frequently crosses the threads....and the line... :)
Is it actually supposed to be operating at all in 2007 at it's new home?
Would they add another flying coaster? Ida know... but they could really use a high-profile coaster, especially if they were to replace Drachen Fire. If not that, then they should at least relocate Steel Venom's problems & give it to Canada's Wonderland because they could use a nice Intamin coaster. It may give cheap thrills... but damn... they're the highest attended park in the "cedar fair" chain now... I think even besting Kings Island.
Canada's Wonderland already has a "flying" type coaster. Michigan's Adventure has attendance similar to the current attendance at Geagua Lake and therefore I do not think it would be in the running.
Cedar Point is getting Maverick. Worlds of Fun got Patriot in 2006. Valleyfair! is getting Renegade. Dorney got Hydra The Revenge in 2005 and seems to be getting some kind of slide for their waterpark in 2007. PGA got rid of this ride already and I doubt if it has the room. Carowinds already has a Vekoma flyer and Knott's Berry Farm is getting a spinning Mack coaster.
That leaves Kings Island and Kings Dominion. Kings Dominion already has modern coasters like Hypersonic SLC and Volcano: The Blast Coaster and seems to be upgrading their water park in 2007.
It seems to me that Kings Island makes the most sense... They are located close to Geauga Lake, but I would think that most of the people who visit Kings Island have not been to Geagua Lake and will view this as a new and exciting addition, even though we enthusiasts may see it differently. Kings Island has not had a major coaster since 2000 and there are some reports of activity taking place near the edge of the park near FOF.I say it will be Kings Island!
