Geauga Lake to remove a "Classic Ride"

$10 those union workers are at the parks anyway...
Why eat hamburger when steak is only an hour away?

The monorail is nice, but as the park grows it needs a better way to transport guests..remeber GL has more land than any other park in the chain. I think where the old water park is a nice coaster will do, and monorail is in the way.

They could EASILY build a coaster around the monorail. Other parks have.
Villain needs to be encased in frozen carbonite and thrown in the Zarlak pit.
"Monorail. reasons for this one going is due to the fact that it could be in the way of their expansion plans for HH."

What is HH? Hurrican Hhannah (sp?) All of those are being moved over to the other side. Look at the rendering of Phase 2.

And Villian is okay if you sit in the front. Why would they remove Villian if it is so new? *** Edited 6/30/2005 1:35:42 AM UTC by Keith2005*** *** Edited 6/30/2005 1:36:52 AM UTC by Keith2005***

Keith had mentioned it, and I had thought about when a drop tower was mentioned too. But if I remember right, when SF owned GL the city of Aurora rode them constantly about their aspirations to put in a hyper because of noise, and because a large hyper could be an eyesore, (esp. to the newer upper class housing, resorts, & country club that have popped up around the park).

I know CF has a much better working relationship with Aurora, but could they even swing getting an (S&S) drop tower? Esp. in an area as open as X-Flight's side of the park?

Eh, one of these days I'll work Knoebels in there somehow. I just have a hard time passing up one of my favorite parks (Hershey) in favor of a place with only two coasters (no matter how great those 2 are). Just my dumb logic ;)

That's all that unions are is petty. I can easily see that situation happening.

Dude, what you got against Villain? Just cause the best wooden coaster in Ohio has it's ups and downs like all the rest don't make it "bantha poodoo" (was that the line?)

Oh yea, and once again, boo S&S

No kidding sherlock. I just said their expansion plans for HH so everyone knew what area I meant. they are not going to expand that waterpark. it's going down. Who would be stupid enough to even think that? I meant for any new rides or DRY attractions they may have planned for the OLD HH area. Hows that?

Impulse-ive, I've gotta disagree since I've never had a good ride on Villain, but I don't think I've ever ridden front either, so I'll hold off my 'boo' for Villain until I get a solid front-seat ride.

Also, yay S&S! I much prefer the 'launch' drop towers to the 'gravity' drop towers. But then again, my favorite S&S is the miniscule 'Liberty Launch' at HW, where repeated negative G's compensate for diminished stature. :) With that in mind, we may need to question my sanity anyway.

No opinion on which one is the 'classic ride' in question. No personal attachment on the monorail, mr. hydes, observation tower, log flume or go kart track. No one's mentioned Head Spin yet. DEFINATELY no spilled tears for kissing the Vekoma POS goodbye. :)

I rode Villian in 2000, 2001, and 2002. On each visit the trains tracked horribly. Add to that the rampy bunny hops [also seen on Boss] and I just can't get excited about the ride.

Put PTCs on it and reprofile some of the hills to be more parabolic and I'm sure I'd love it.

Impulse-ive,

Basically... ^ what he said. And G trains are supposed to "track" better.

No coaster that is good with G's trains couldn't be a great coaster with some PTCs.

Megazeph, Hurricane:Catagory5, and, well hell, look at Legend for crying out loud.

I really liked Villian, but I haven't been on it since 2000, so it has probably changed.

I did notice a few issues with the trains, like those stupid lap bars that bang into the sides of your legs, and the poor tracking, especially on one of the uphill turnarounds at the park entrance end of the ride. But I still liked the ride for some reason. It was just...fun.

imho.

Please remove the old, run down, not-very-fun, rusty, in-the-way-of-progress, log ride. Build a new log ride style ride over in newly empty area after moving the rest of the waterpark.

I hate to put it this way, but I wont miss any classic ride they decide to remove if it is going to help the park move forward with improvments...except for maybe BD or RWB.

I have been waiting until the park is "ready, or maybe the word is "complete", before I plan a visit. It will be either '06 if the waterpark is ready early in the season, or '07 if it isn't. Maybe a lot of people are thinking the same thing, and that's one reason why attendence is low, if it is.

i hope by classic ride they mean monorail, head spin, skyscrapper, and mr hydes....like i said before with the land added from the old HH...a really nice woodie could be put in, something Ohio is lacking north of PKI

I wish they would put new trains on Villain. I love the ride, but get why people don't, you really have to ride it defensively. Its just so freaking fast and out of control not to like.

In my limited rides on Villian (4)...

Loved the front seat. Could have ridden in that one all day (well, at least more than 4 times). However, a ride in Seat 4 (2nd car, back seat), ended my day on it. That was brutal.

My guess is this is what is going on. Baby steps. It will take time and to do it right I think this is the way upper management is going about things.

The new waterpark was the right direction to go as each time I've been to the park this season that area had the most concetration of people...and it's a great waterpark, in my opinion.

Throw in the fact that the water park is only half way done, as stated many times above, and you have a solid foundation to build your park around to grow. I'd like to add I'm cringing for the day when they seperate these two parks. Let's hope the gp doesn't revolt.

Anyways, I'll trust what they are doing(do I have a choice ;) ?) and stick around for the ride. As said before, after this season, there will be lots of room once the water park is on the Sea World side weather or not a classic ride is removed or not.

Hopefully it won't be more picnic pavillions, BUT if it is, so be it. They need to build attendance, right? *** Edited 6/30/2005 2:53:28 PM UTC by Radius***

Separating these parks? As in two different admissions? Are they planning on doing this? Has this been stated? CF runs their Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom as one park, what makes you think Geauga Lake and Wild Water Kingdom would be any different?

Knott's waterpark is a sepaate admission [granted, it's across a street]. Isn't CP's, too?
They are not doing it at this time nor has it been announced. Just my gut feeling...and I have a big gut. *** Edited 6/30/2005 3:00:54 PM UTC by Radius***

I seriously dount they will ever seperate the parks, it has been one gate since GL started the waterpark way back when and appears to be a huge part of their strategy.

GL has always had a one admission for both. Also because they have NEVER seperated the parks, they won't start it now. It will always be 2 parks for the price of 1.
