Geauga Lake Big Dipper "Love Thread"

I personally wouldn't say it was crap, but I wasn not over enthused with it. It wasn't bad, mind you, but it also wasn't one of the coasters I re-rode(Villian, OTOH...).

It was a good coaster, and RWB could be if they finish re-tracking it. Not my favorite woody, but a very good addition to the park that I did enjoy.

I think it's crap. Haven't been on it since 2001 or so, but felt it was crap then.

Aren't we always the positive one! ;)

You just confuse negativity with disagreement.

The ride is a pure giggler.

It's funny you say that cause thats all my 8yr old son was doing on it on friday night. What a great ride!

The Golden Rule - Try it once and if you don't like you don't have to go on again!
Jeff, my goal is to make you laugh, one time in my life. I don't know how I am gonna do it, but I will.

How about a Garbage love thread? ;)

I guess you'll have to start by saying something funny. It shouldn't be that hard. I still laugh at dick and fart jokes.

So this guy named Dick walkes into a bar and farts....

(leave it to me to take both and turn them Unfunny...)

:)

As a former operator of the Dipper I do enjoy seeing the love being handed down, Jeff's opinion notwithstanding.

It isn't the tallest, fastest, steepest or longest but it is a coaster that harkens back to the glory days of woodies. I can't speak to the upkeep recently but in the 80's and 90's I rode it more times than I can count and enjoyed it each time.

Impulse-ive was the one that called the ride a giggler, I was just agreeing ;)
It's a good coaster that's stood thru time fairly well. I'd recomend it to anyone... First seat is my pref...

Tekno, I just spit water all over my computer because of that. Nice one ;)

Ok, now I feel really dumb for using the word "giggler" ... not my best moment. I'm gonna go over here and swallow some testosterone and get back to ya on that one ...

Yeah, we need more masculine descriptions of the coaster, none of this cutsie girlie stuff ;)

....I'd love to tear it down. I thought it sucked as well in 2003. I don't remember how it rode in 2000. Count me as underwhelmed.

Rob - I voted, and there's not a damn thing I can do about it.

tear it down? NEVER

I'm not really in favor of tearing it down, however, I am serious that it need(ed)s serious help, at least from my trip in 2003. I'm sure much has been done, and if the retracking of RWB was any proof that they do know what they're doing, then great.

It must be better, because it SUCKED in May, 2003.

Glorious! I loved riding BD on my visit in August 2003. It had airtime galore, of which I'm a huge fan. I just knew I was going to be thrown from the train more than once during my ride. How anyone could not love this classic John Miller is beyond me. I can only imagine how it rides now with the retracking! Count my electoral vote for BD as best woodie in Ohio as well.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
Good thing you weren't drinking that large glass of Testosterone, Brett...

I'll agree with you Jeff, it was pretty much crap a couple years ago.

I take it you added the Geauga Lake add-on to your CP pass, and if thats the case, you'll get more chances to try it again, that is, if you feel like riding it.

Did anyone here ever ride it when it had the double-dip instead of that straightaway? I sure didn't.

I've talked to people that said the double-dip was extremely rough, even after the rebuild in the early '80s. It would be great if they replaced that feature, even if its a tamed-down example of the original double-dip. That flat section is the only dead spot on the ride.
