Geauga Lake 2005: Midnight, Tonight!

Does GL even have a creative name for these names they come up/and don't come up with? ;)

Doesn't sound like they will be a new rollie ride for 2006 everyone holding their breath...

+Danny, but you look so good in blue ;)

gatta love the URL of the website too:

WWK for Wild Water Kingdom...cute...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Looking at the park rendering, it appears that Neptune body slides(currently located near the former Hooks Lagoon) and Shark Attack might be relocated for 2006.

XFlight...this is from the Geauga Lake website...

"While Phase II of Wildwater Kingdom will be finished in 2006, Geauga Lake will keep the doors open on Hurricane Hannah’s Waterpark during the 2005 season. Attractions at Hurricane Hannah’s will include Hurricane Hannah’s Wave Pool."

So they'll most likely still be open in 2005. Sounds like the water park will be split in half for 2005 with each half on opposite ends of the now "C" shaped park...that'll be a little odd for 2005. Parents will want the wavepool on one side of the park, kids will want the Hurricane Mountain waterslide tower on the complete opposite side of the park. Well, if nothing else it will clear up some nice space for 2007 and beyond attractions.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

there is going to be alot of people walking around the park in bathing suits this coming season...

glad starfish is making a return

From the construction photos I see, it looks like Neptunes falls are being scrapped
Makes sense for the planning: in '06 when phase II of WWK is opening, Cedar Point can open and advertise (non-competitively) a new coaster, and when the dust has cleared around that, Geauga can use '07 to premeire their's- if that happens, but that's just my dream...

Hello, Hello! (hola!) I rode a ride named Vertigo!-with apologies to U2

Ohhh that could be true...i could see CP adding a new coaster in 2005 or even in 2006 at the latest...that way they don't have to compete with theirselves.
Ok now i got serious issues with my plans for next season. Will one day still suffice for Geauga Lake or will I need 2 midweek?

Watch the tram car please....
yep, this is just what i thought...
at least i'm sure it will look great!

Hello? A park that only drew 700,000 visitors with 10 coasters and is dropping $24 million for a waterpark isn't adding more coasters any...time...soon.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I'd rather the big announcement be the removal of Thunderhawk for a B&M invert. I've not ridden that particular SLC, but, having ridden Astroworld's Serial Thriller and Six Flags America's Mind Eraser, I don't need a trip on Thunderhawk to reinforce my opinions. I'm just surprised at the waterpark boom. They cost so much more than coasters, but if it's waterparks that bring people, so be it...

"Cost so much more than coasters"? Not hardly!

For the number of peeps they draw, a new coaster costs....well, a LOT more than a waterpark addition. SFGAm is building an entire waterpark, from SCRATCH, for roughly the same cost as Kingda Ka...who do YOU think is going to have the bigger attendance spike? ;)

northern Ohio, WaterPark capital: OF THE WORLD!
Dover lake, pioneer, GW CP, GL plus that other one they're putting in sandusky...
did i miss any?

Good point, rollergator. I did not mean cost-effectiveness, as I know that a large waterpark brings more people than a new coaster. I'm sure, however, that unless the coaster in question is yet another super-Intamin coaster, a waterpark has to cost more than a coaster.

I'm assuming that the new waterpark is separate from Hurricane Hannah's (what an imaginative name, don't you think?). I would like to know why they don't just expand the current waterpark into a larger one rather than start from scratch? (if they are indeed merely making an expansion, please correct me)

lack of space in the current waterpark.
