Will you kids every get it? CoasterGen will NEVER be a game. It's a bunch of 3D max renderings, not a game.

This game is gonna be awesome!! =)

Does this thing go faaaaaast!

Jeff-That was the funniest thing I have seen for a very, very long time. Thank you. Anyway, this game looks awesome, and if it has all the improvements that i have heard it is definitely a new game and not an expansion pack.

I noticed in the screen shot with the rides/shops list that you can only choose 128 items out of however many are in the game looks like we may need trainers after all even with a senario editor

No, there are "only" 128 rides in the game. Note that this isn't items, it's just rides. That's still a LOT.

The screen shot clearly shows 3 different lines that must each be checked off for the diferent types of cars you can get in the mini car ride this is 3 of your 128

I'm betting that we still wont be able to get everything in our senarios that we build ourselves senario editor or not

No. I've done a careful anaysis of the list, the number of items on the "page" and the scroll-bar size, and the entire list is 128 items long. I'll bet against you on this one.

Raptor Pilot: I doubt the gaming community or scene will even care about RCT2, much as they pretty much ignored the first game. I don't think the game was made with hardcore gamers in mind.

Why do you think they ignored the first game? If they did, it wasn't because of the type of game, it was the gameplay. Gamers play any type of game, including strategy games like Age of Empires, Civilization, etc. Even Railroad Tycoon. Why not RCT?

do you have any idea how hard that is to read and write?

I'm a progammer. Not assembly, but I've looked at it.

TrBiggar, Half Life is a completely different game than Quake II. It uses a modified version of the Q2 engine, with only 30% of the Q2 code left. Plus they added things like skeletal animation (w/ over 6000 polygons per character), much improved AI, support for new API's, a completely different goal, much better detail and of course none the textures are the same. Deus Ex and Elite Force are completely different games with nothing in common besides the graphics engine itself. Deus Ex is a slow paced, almost role playing game. UT is strictly a fast paced FPS.
Project IGI uses the JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) engine! Counter Strike and Day of Defeat are both Half Life mods and certainly nothing like Quake 2. Also The Neverwinter Nights engine is based on the MDKII engine - completely different game.

Did I mention I don't care for POV's??

Dude, you're missing the point. RCT was a top-10 seller and continues to be after what, three years now? Why do you suppose that is? Broad appeal, simple to play and understand. The hard core crowd isn't big enough for a big pay off, especially for a $30 title.

The engine works fine for what it needs to do. I realize that sprite-based animation is "passe," but using 3D for the sake of using 3D doesn't make sense, especially because 3D still can't do the sheer volume of detail that RCT requires. It's easy to push thousands of polys when they're all a part of the same color or texture, but quite another when they all require their own texture.

Dude, I never said it had to be 3D.

When do better graphics make a game harder to play and understand?

Dude, there ARE better graphics in the game. Higher resolution support, more colors, more frames of animation, more animations, ... have you watched the movies of game-play? MUCH smoother.
Dude, where's my car?

TOGO!
Dude!? How old are we, fourteen??? lets stop with the dudes right now. I dont feel like reliving that dumb movie ever (Dude, Wheres My Car?). Aside from that, I still don't see why people are still b**ching about not having 3D and POV's. I would like everyone to acknowledge how dumb that would realy be.:::::moment of thought:::::. If Chris did make it 3D or add POV's, it would not even be named RCT. It would be a whole different game most likely classified as a Sim Theme Park knock off. The feeling of creating a whole vitual amusement park was the hook for the first game, and the simple, seemless gameplaywould run half as well on a different, lets say, 3D engine. Anyways, it's not like we can change anything, so just wait.
