Gamespot posts more screen shots from RCT2

Gamespot has posted new screen shots from the forthcoming Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, headed for stores in October. The shots reveal more theme and construction objects, as well as new flat rides.

See the screen shots at Gamespot.

That dive loop doesn't look too realistic. It looks like it twists up, then into the top arc of a loop, the back down like the second half of a loop.

Also, did anybody notice the pics of the wall things that look like water? You can see it in the pic with the B&M tophat thing. It's near the drop by the magic carpet. They can also be seen in the pic with the pirate ship. It's along to side of the river ride.

If you like Wicked Twister in the back, does that mean you like to get screwed in the rear?

It looks like you build track up to vertical, and add half a top hat-top element.

What if you just build up to vertical, and then keep building into the inversion. Look at the coaster closlely as it's coming out of the cobra roll... it goes down, but then goes straight down and twists. It's not a half-loop. Hrm. I'm wondering if the "incline" selection buttons don't just keep sliding left, letting you chose inversions as well as straight up or down.

If you look at the screen shot here you can see the height marks are have feet for units - this will make recreations much more accurate!

Call me pessimistic, but I am still not impressed. I still wish Chris Sawyer would make a new graphic engine. So you could at least have POV's of your own rides. Or even better walk through your park. That was the problem with RCT 1, you build these really cool parks and you're just dying to see it from the guests point of view.

The fact is that I'm still convinced that this is not RCT 2, but how RCT 1 should have been.

Oh well, maybe next time. You do realized that I'm still going to get it. :) *** This post was edited by S Wilson on 8/7/2002. ***

The problem with that is that many peoples computers cannot handle that kind of graphics.

does anybody know if we will be able to build a large corckscrew?

Look in the Ghost town pic. It may just be coincidence, but it looks like two of the cowboy entertainers are beginning a shootout while uests look on from the sides! Could this be a tpe of show addition? Or mayber They just happen to be walking in opposite directions. WHat do you think?

Barry that's just not true, computers CAN handle it and it was demonstrated in NoLimits. I am skeptical of a full 3D walkthrough of a park, because that would be pulling heavy requirements but just the coaster would work.

Look at the large cobra roll with the steel coaster track. That's new. That's not steel twister track, that's regular looping steel coaster track. Looks like you can now build straight up with that style of track now too. Perhaps it's trying to be styled after Premier track, and you can now do top hats with that coaster track? That would be awesome!

Also, look at all the great western theming! Teepees, totems and covered wagons! Awesome. Can't wait until October 15th!

edit: Look at the pirate ship in the bottom-left corner of the fifth picture near the boat ride. Pirate theming. Awesome. *** This post was edited by Coasterman J on 8/7/2002. ***

Just to correct you Coasterman J, it ships on Oct. 8th so you should be able to get it before then. I think this game is going to be awesome though, jsut look at all the new additions(sp?)

unfortunately, the one thing I don't see is the ability to create inversions on the diagonal...look at DejaVu...no cross over the station....bummer.

But the rest of the game looks great...I'll be there 10/8 to buy it!

Posting, "Me too" like some brain dead AOLer. I ought to to the world a favor, and cap you like old yeller...

I'm suprised that no one has yet mentioned the fact that you can now build tunnels on the rides without burrowing underground...or am I just slow and missed that in the last update? (see log flume pic)

Nope, but I think it's just because people were lumping tunnels in with the other construction objects.

I think the new wooden supports are just stacked scenery.

PT300-You can already build paths undergrown, they have some in the Iceberg Islands scenario.

This game looks so awsome...I'm about to cry

CoasterBearVa, those are the old screenshots, these ones that we are talking about are the newest ones. Also, the game ships on the 8th, but isn't in stores until the 15th. *** This post was edited by Rctycoon2k on 8/7/2002. ***
Anybody notice on the log flume pic(page 2 top row) that it looks like you can now build uphil without having to build lift hill track. Its in the top right corner.

Wait, it might just be a turn instaed, but im not sure.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that if we're *really* going to be playing scenarios based on Six Flags parks, like Magic Mountain, and Sawyer is going to be as realistic as possible, then there are a SLEW of new rides in RCT2 that we have yet to see. Rides not currently available in RCT that SFMM has include a Bayurn Curve, Himalaya, Round Up, Yo-Yo, Rotor, Tilt-a-Whirl, enclosed waterslide, skycoaster...I may have missed a few. And SFGAdv has even more.

Or is this just wishful thinking??

I hope that you can play in more a freeform mode, and looking at the scenario editor screenshot I would hope that "No Objective" would be in that list.
