I heard on a website that in 2003 Gadv will get a new themed section near viper and medusa, with two new coaster. Can any employee confirm this and do you think this is could be true?
-----------------
3.2.1 launch
First off, i doubt gadv could add another section over by where you claim. On one side you have Medusa, on the other is Rolling thunder. If you wanted to go behind them, you have the Wild Safari and the priority maintenance building. If you went even farther over, you have that swampy lake.
If they got another section, they would most likly fill in behind Congo rapids or Nitro, as that is the only open space they could build on without having to do mass bridge/path construction.
I've als heard lots of rumors lately about a flying dutchman, a B&M standup, and lots more wishful thinking. However, I couldnt complain if they did get new rides. I think we should just relax and enjoy what we have for now (hmmm...)
Besides, If gadv did want to theme a new section, I'm sure it would be of mediocre quality.

How much more floorless can they get?
That's lots of wishful thinking, but they do want to expand. Supposedly there is land behind the log flume, but from what I gather most of it is marshy. And there is still plenty of room behind Congo and Nitro like greatadventureadfict said, although I don't think that would be a good idea, that side of the park is already crowded enough as it is. You can always go to the other side of the lake, but it would take a long time to get there (put in a ferry or something along with walkways from both sides of the park to get there), that seems the most likely but it would take a long time. One thing for sure I'll bet on is a new coaster for 2003, maybe not a new section just yet, but soon enough..
heres my opinion...if you wanna make more room at SFGadv, just take lighter fluid, pour it all over Rolling Thunder(aka rotting lumber), toss a match on it and say goodbye!! there ya go!!! lots of new room...hehe :) sorry...i just really hate that coaster. i dont even think retracking could save it. but i could be wrong....i mean there is hope. i just personally think it takes up too much room that could be so much more valuble for a BETTER coaster or somethin....ok ive reambled enough....

ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!
sad that a park with ONE wooden coaster can't seem to do ANYTHING to take care of it, and it's an out-n-back to boot. BTW, I call it Rolling Chunder, but any name for that coaster should include a HUGE slice of contempt - "WORST woodie EVER", proclaims comic book store guy....until they learn something about wooden-coaster maintenance, "let them eat steel". The patrons deserve better, but if the park can't do a better job on RT, there's NO WAY they could handle a twister-type woodie...

I still feel Rotting Lumber is a whole lot better than the Grizzly at PGA. At least Rolling Thunder has the potential of being a great wooden coaster. Same goes for Hercules at Dorney Park!

Gravity is your friend!
Rolling Thunder isnt that bad at all the last day of the year i rode it 3 times and it was running strangly fast the first time i rode it i got crazy airtime?

3.2.1 launch
I'm with Bill n' Jill here (sounds like a '50s diner :))
Rotting Lumber is horrid; BOTH sides. A woodie is just not meant to be like this. I mean, when the smoothest part of the ride is the skid brakes, you KNOW something is wrong. Until "they" figure out how to treat it better, then as 'Soup Nazi' would say "NO WOOD FOR YOU!"
jeremy
--and that my friends is true...it's DAAAAMN true!
I do believe Rotting Lumber is a horrid ride as well. *One* (I stared that for a reason) excuse for riding this thing could be to ride the left side. Even though this gives minimal airtime and is "heart attack" rough, its much better than the catastrophicly painful right side. On the beginning of the turnaround for the left side, I thought I actually bruised a rib or two hitting the side, it was that rough.

How much more floorless can they get?
If its so bad of a ride then why do you go on it? Its a wood and even if they got a new woodie in 03' i would still like to see rt there (only if its fixed up). But if they would put a b&m or intamin ride there then forget rt.

Hey B&R - The Chiller, why do you go on B&R - The Chiller, or Nitro? Simply, its a coaster. I'll go on rt if theres no line, just because i cant take a whole day of steel without one woodie.

How much more floorless can they get?
Unlike GAA, I *can* go a whole day with no wood. I have ridden Rotting Lumber exactly *TWICE*; once on each side. Now that I have done so, I dont really have a desire to ride it again. So unless I'm feeling extraordinarily masochistic that day, or ALL the other interesting rides are closed, I see no reason in riding it again. (Kinda like I really dont feel the need to ride SFWoA's boomer either...)

--Even "Raptor" is better than Rolling Thunder
Unlike jeremy, I DO need to try every woodie AT LEAST once at ewvery park I visit. Call it masochism (sometimes it IS), but I know how much woodies vary from day to day, esp. year to year. GASM at SFoG ran MUCH better this fall than previously, and RT really can become a great ride again...just not under that park's "leadership". (ed. I just HAD to put quotes in there...;~). Nearly every time, a woodie gets two, three or even a dozen spins. RT got exactly one this year! (NOTE: Herc and RWB were the only other woodies to achieve "single-ride" status this year, even MS got two - I guess I couldn't beleive it was that bad the first time...can I plead insanity?).

Persoanly all Great Adventure needs now is another wooden coaster badily.every time i go there i leave with something missing and it is a ride on a good wooden coaster.when i left Hershey Park i left with the satisfaction that i rode some good wooden coasters and steel. As for Rolling Thunder they should face one train backwards i know some think that coasters should stay the same way but one side going backwards would make the popularity of that coaster rise and kinda reinvent an already decent ride.
Wow...I've been riding Rolling Thunder since I was around 7 years old. I probably have over 500 laps on it. I find good airtime on it (on the left side) in car 1 seat 2 or 3, or car 2, seat 1. If I got beat up on that ride, I would probably be black and blue forever, but I dont get beat up on it. The only odd thing was a little chunk of wood fell off and hit me in the head while riding in the front seat. Other than that, I love it. However, I would like to see the park get a new wooden roller coaster.

At one time they did run one track with a train backward. I believe that it was changed back due to revisions in New Jersey's regulations. As much as I'd like to see RT get a much needed rehab, SFGadv could still use another woodie.

SFGadv Please I'm begging for a Gyro Drop tower, an ArrowBatic, and some TLC for Rolling Thunder!!

It must be that i'm just used to Rolling Thunder, but I love this ride. I mean it doesn't compare at all to Wildcat at HP and the Great White at Morey's, but IMO it is still alot of fun in its own unique way. Even though it is rough, i've never gotten beat up on it. I'll be real pissed at GA if it is taken down in the near future. But we definitally could use a new woddie here.
I don't think is that much rougher than Grizzly at PGA or Beast even. I remember being on Beast and feeling my brain rattling in my head. But back to the subject, a new themed area would be phat. That park is way too compact which doesn't help the crowd problem!
Rolling Thunder may be incredibly, rediculously, painfully, horrible but i'd rather be on a bad coaster than anywhere else (except a good coaster).

Rolling thunder is great. I rode it last day of operation last season in the dark and it was one of the best rides i ever had. if youve never been on it, ride it!
