"Funsultant" new mascot for Six Flags ads

Gunkey Monkey:

How will that play with the general public who are MAGA and hate KG still to this day for Trump’s head?

I suspect that you're one of four people globally who could make that leap and association.

metallik:
...the asshole-ish dude who keeps breaking things or causing disasters.

Mayhem! Incidentally, I knew I saw this recently. It's the actors behind all of these consistent ads.

Y’all just gonna let “goon cave” slide by!!!!!!

It's not often a 50 year old man can slip that into conversation. I wasn't passing it up.

I think you mean 52. You're OLD.

Touchdown:

That makes even less sense, they’re closing that one.

Why does that matter? The target audience for that ad doesn't know any better and could care less.

Huh?

I think Godwin's Law needs to be updated, or at least have an amendment added.

I mean, as long as we're at it, Something something something Jane Fonda something.

Well, I mean Trump is the new Hitler, right?

Trump isn't Hitler. He's the literal antichrist. But that's not what I came here to say...

I love the slogan. "Six Flags. We're serious about fun." That's genius marketing! I mean, really amazing!

The woman is interesting too. I like her. "I'm overwhelmed, with joy. This is my resting joy face." LOL

I don’t think Rizz, or lack thereof, plays any part in a Goon Cave.

So many Rizz/Jizz jokes that my mind just froze.

A substance one letter away from Rizz however, is sadly required.

It looks pretty cool and fun! Bonus for me as they showed the Demon! What a great choice. I dreamed for years CF would take over SF and up the quality.

Sorry...the one ad that i saw a few times fell a little short in my opinion. I don't think she is talking to the thrill seekers and the families with young children won't view her as a role model.

From what i understand The general public is not thrilled with 6 flags...

Rides gone

Park guest behavior.

Cost of daily ticket entry , parking and food.

It's hard to advertise clean bathrooms.

In other words, it's hard to be all things to all people.

The enthusiasts will come anyway and hope for the future.

Mr. 6 may be retro and pase...but he was at least "fun" and instantly recognizable.

Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!

I guess I got a different vibe from the ads. I thought they were good as she is like a deadpan delivery comedian,

Watch the tram car please....

I don't think anyone but a few enthusiasts will read that far into this advertising campaign.

Cost of daily ticket entry , parking and food.

Aren't daily tickets about the cheapest around? SFA is $29 on certain weekdays, with $35 parking. My family of 4 can get in the gates for $163. I know I've been one to blast this park over the last 20 years, but I've been shopping for Busch Gardens tickets online this week and even with a super deal I'd be in for $200+ before I even paid for parking.

I'll take Mr. Six over Funsultant and Dr Rick over Flo.

But I can't be involved in a conversation about commercials without mentioning Terry Tate: Office Linebacker
I still crack up watching TT.

Jeff:

This campaign is not terrible.

You're right; it's not terrible, it's abhorrent.

Just years ago Cedar Point had an awesome "that place on a Lake" campaign, and now we have this ****.

She's not funny, she's not likeable, and the entire campaign has, ironically, no "joy"....just corporate nonsense.

My 13 year old just returned from her middle school field trip to CP and saw one of these ridiculous commercials today running for CP, and said..."hey....wait...that's not even Cedar Point". Because it's not, and those days are on a ship that sailed away when the crooked deal was done.

But it's exactly what I would expect from Cedar Flags.

I'm officially a grumpy old man.

Promoter of fog.

I know the purpose of the commercial, its strategy is going after soccer moms who make vacation decisions something like 80% of the time (I can’t remember the exact data, sorry.) It’s safe, it’s generic for every market to run….but does it generate revenue to achieve “synergy” goals or pay down $5 billion in debt? No. It doesn’t convince the viewer that <insert park name> is the best place to spend your money in difficult and chaotic economic times.

YouTube is a wonderful place for finding historic marketing videos for the parks. Specifically CP-oriented, they challenged you to “get to the Point.” Demon Drop. Gemini. Magnum. Raptor. Millennium Force. They were commercials that told a story and they intrigued you to want to experience that story. Sometimes the story was to face your fears, sometimes it was to create a sense of urgency, and sometimes it was to give you that warm feeling of CP being that grand Queen on Lake Erie that creates memories we hold dear for a lifetime (thanks Matt!)

Zimmerman/Bassoul are showing they are not up to the task to get this merger right. Advertising is just one of many glaring flaws in judgement. Right now my understanding is they have a lot of luck on their side, park attendance and spending is stable or up slightly in some locations, even with weather challenges. Time will tell if this pattern sustains itself as their plans take shape.
