Former Kings Island and TOGO exec says he wouldn't be surprised to see King Cobra go

Posted | Contributed by Jacob

PKIGuide.com interviews Walt Davis, former Kings Island and TOGO executive, about the alleged pending sale of the park's oldest operating steel coaster, King Cobra. Davis says the park "talked about using that land for something else for the last ten years or so."

Oh please let Cobra run just one more year! I need to grab a few more pictures.

It is my favorite stand up, even though its brother at PKD was horrible. I found that Skyrider at Wonderland was pretty fun.

Heres hoping that it will eventually be replaced with an ArrowBATic and a few flat rides. Followed soon by a B&M small stand-up with a ton of air.

I am thinking that a Hypersonic clone could go in that area pretty easy.  Other then that I loved KC teh trick track was just too cool and that helix was amazing.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
Yikes!

 Did I say that?

 Just kidding. Nice article Jacob.

Very sad news, since I never got to pay my "last respects."  I really liked that coaster a lot!  The restraints were so wacky, it was fun smashing your riding partner in them.  ;)

The capacity and ride quality will be greatly improved by a new attraction there, I assume, but it is still sad to see this coaster go.  Loved the front row airtime!

I rode King Cobra and I thought it stunk. I have never been banged around so badly on a coaster in my life. The Shockwave was a rough ride too when I rode it, but not nearly  like King Cobra. I like how the ride is laid out. It would be sweet if they could do something with those restraints, Like maybe teach the ride ops the proper way to fit them to the riders.

When ya got TO GO,
ya got TO GO.

Ive never ridden it and now I never will.
Bummer :(

Weren't they supposed to get a Volcano The Blast Coaster like PKD?

That'd be keeping in Paramount park tradition, considering Canada's Wonderland had a Volcano also.

I've ridden KC several times and I absolutley love this ride!  Although I'm not too sad to see it go becuase I know somthing so much better will probably go in it's place.  I'm hoping a flying coaster or floorless will go in its place but I should just be quite until everything is official ;)

One other thing, didn't the title say he wouldn't be surprised.  Does this mean it's not for sure or what?
-----------------
It's never for sure until it's gone.  Anything can happen, but we do know that it's listed.

Has anyone contacted Jeff Siewert (?) or whoever the guy is who updates us on TR?
The PR team had no comment on the matter.

I thought the ride was okay overall.  I enjoyed it, but I suppose after standing in line, I like to sit down once I get to the ride.

I have never been to PKI, but I truly feel that Shockwave at PKD was the worst coaster I have ever been on.  It is the only stand-up I have ever ridden, and I hope to ride another that will provide a good experiance this year.  So far my plans for this season will probably allow me to sample 3 others; B:TE, Georgia Scorcher, and Vortex at PC.
Zar, I hear ya!  The first, second, and third time I went this summer, lines were at least an hour and a half long due to the fact they were running only one train.  Those ride operators don't make you feel more at ease either!  I HAD to call over an Operator to help with my friends seatbelt 6 times before she came over!  Although, the experience is one of a kind and the hill after the loop is the best part!
-----------------
LOL "seatbelt," scuse me, safty harness! ;)

I think the ride has run its course. It was great for a while, but the restrictiveness of the ride has gotten on my nerves.

I'm hoping they'd use that area for some high-octane flat rides (Frisbee, Jump, anything really) and a PATH on the other side of the Days Of Thunder track that leads directly to the Octoberfest area for more thru-put for Action Zone.

But then again, I wouldn't be surprised by a Ricochet clone in there.

I have gone "out on a limb" and predicted (in the guise of Miss Cleo) an inverted mouse in the area of KC, which really was one of the better stand-ups...LOVED the trick-track type bounce to the left, kinda spooky!  I'll miss it, unless I get to ride it in another park;)...the restraints left something to be desired it's true, but name a coaster you've ridden with less "train" under you...kinda more like skateboarding on a coaster track!

Hey, Shaggy.  That 2nd test seat wouldn't be for Son of Beast now would it?   I had trouble trying to sit in the seat since I'm pretty tall.  I hated it when I had to cross my legs just to be able to sit in the seat.  The seats themselves wre comfy, but the legroom was just too horrible.
