Flying Turns Update

P18, I'm no spring chicken, but even I can't remember 1875! I was basing my dates on the High water signs I recall seeing throughout the park. When was Floyd anyway? And whereabouts are you located, P18?
Yipes. Aw, lol, sorry bout that. 1975 :) Floyd was in 99 I believe. I'm pretty close to King Of Prussia. I just remember it most since the flooding was so bad my school was closed a couple days, the first and last "rain days" I had. *** Edited 3/5/2007 11:25:45 PM UTC by P18***
OK, I remember that one now. That wasn't as bad for us as it was for you. For us that was actually a drought buster. That was the difference with Ivan and last year's no name storm-- the ground was already very wet because we were getting plenty of rain.
Ah ok, yeah theres been a couple, just Floyd is the only rain storm I remember getting out of school for, hehe. I'm guessing you're up closer to Knoebels? I'm hoping I have a new car by summer (mine was totaled last Sunday during that ice) so I can swing by Knoebels more often. I sadly didn't make it up more then once last summer due to... relationship issues eh... (my ex isn't being such a "RGB" right now =/ ) *** Edited 3/6/2007 4:59:13 AM UTC by P18***
1975 floodmaker = Hurricane Eloise

All this flooding is due to global wetting?

John

KG

Is that separate from global warming? ;)

I just checked out tbe flying turns info on www.knoebels.com and they are showing a few Feb pics. looks like a differnt angle than the pics from before, with a lot of new bents.

To the left of the pics you can see some of the lower section of the ride. Does anyone know if the photos are of the pre lift helix?

Real men ride wood... coasters that is!
Go Here for new pictures of the pre-lift helix and the brake run:

They moved the first webcam today, although it's so blurry at the moment that I can't tell exactly where it's pointing (maybe the brake run) and the description hasn't been updated.

The second webcam is currently showing a backhoe on the side of the road, but I can't tell if they were digging footers or trying to divert water :)

Those are my photos, but unforunity the site has shut down without any notice and I am unable to logon. Its a kick in the ass cause I love sharing my photos, including the Flying Turns project. I dont know what I am gonna do, but I apologize if that site shuts down completely soon...

If anyone wants to see them, I also have pictures up of the Flying Turns. There's also other photos all over the site also. I have two sites with some really cool stuff.

Ah, I knew you would chime in Lado, I should have mentioned they were your photos. That sucks about the site, seems fishy to me. You have some great pics and info up there, I hope you get it back.

Also, nice pictures Robert. I like your Bushkill Falls pictures, that is a great place with alot of hiking and sights. When I went I made sure to hike every trail, what a work out but definitely alot of fun and worth it. Just curious, how much was admission in '06? I forget which year I went, maybe 04 or 03, and it was around $8.

My best guess is that they moved the camera back to the chimney on the Kearny Cottage, where it originally was. That is definitely the brake run.

Yeah, I can see today that it's the brake run, they've got the roof started already. But it looks like the camera got damaged in the move or something. It's still blurry, plus now the picture is pink.

I am sure its blurry because of the weather and stuff i am sure it will clear up in a few days....

Ok, so my old photo site has shutdown without giving anyone notice. I can't login, which means I cant add or edit anymore photos. Also, I read in a blog that the people who own Clubphoto showed everyone the door.

Soo, I am gonna try Webshot for awhile and see what I can do. I have a ton of pics. to move so disregard any mistakes. Thanks!

Ok, Coastin' Steve has now posted all 153 pictures he's taken, not just the handful we're used to. An even better thing is that they are LARGER!

Head over to:

to check it out!

While I'm talking to myself here, I don't recall anybody mentioning it, but I discovered that the new Knoebels site has a new park map on it WITH the Flying Turns.
