Flying Turns Update

They must have counted every label from the map (gift shops, refreshment stands, bathrooms, etc.). Or else mini golf counts as 18. :)

With a starting bid of $0.75, and shipping of $0.39, heck for an extra buck, I'd go to the store and get my own loaf of bread. At least I'd get some toast in the deal.

Back on topic, last night at 8 PM there was somebody with a nail gun up in one of the troughs, so the work keeps moving along.

Something tells me that *when* DK can get that sucker ready, the State will do all that it can to get the ride certified as quickly as possible. Contrasting that with, say, NJ and Clementon, where ride certification proved to be a real *PiA*...

bill, holding out a little bit of hope...I mean, having people working late shows there's possibly some kind of "rush" to get things done...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I think it's more a case of getting as much work done in favorable weather conditions, i.e., before winter, than it is trying to get the ride open this season.

They do have a lot done-- the towers are mostly constructed, and they have built as far out as the last 180 turn before the brake run. But there's not much above ground before the towers, mostly foundations so far. There is a whole lot more to do. But each time I go (every few weeks), the progress is noticeable.

hey *rathergoodbear* if you go down there every few weeks and the work is noticeable then maybe you should snap some photos even if it is only 1 or 2 .... hey does anyone know when the coaster cars are going to be done and shipped to knoebels?

Sure, Seth. Buy me a nice digital camera, and I'll do that. Then I have to learn how to use it, and how to upload and download and sideload. Sheesh, just look at the webcam. :)

Pay to fly me to Philly every other week, and I'll take pics of the Turns until you're blue in the face...

I'll bring my digital, and even teach RGB how to "sideload"....although first I'll have to learn how myself. The other two I've got covered. :)

Plus they lost about two weeks of work time after the flood last month. Mr. Knoebel and other park officials were on another podcast last week talking about how they had to borrow the "Flying Turns" construction team to assist in the park clean-up.
oh i see that you don't got a dig cam yea me either but i want one sooo bad and hopefully I will get one but who knows. in that podcast is that on the knoebels site? I have to check it out.

~Seth
I just checked out the podcast on knoebels website and its still the same one they put up when they 1st started the ride... so where did you hear the other podcast at can you give me a link at all? thanks

~Seth
I (as I'm very sure just about everyone else is as well) am anxiously awaiting the trains now that they have most of the structure up and it has taken shape. It's funny since I usually not one to sit by and be anxious about seeing a coaster's trains (unless highly themed) but as many know this is a once in a lifetime thing to see new "classic" flying turn's trains.
omg a new picture(s) of the flying turns is on the knoebels update page. its soo beautiful how the ride looks from this view!

~Seth
That is a great pic. Actually a better view than you get from either webcam. Too bad they can't get a cam in that location.
hey floorless fan where did you hear that podcast from .. i can't find it on the knoebels site they only got one podcast and that i all-ready heard. ... and yea that is a great view idk if that was taken from a crane or what but it is too bad they can't get a webcam up there.

Sorry to butt in here guys, but as fate would have it, an unexpected business trip will dump me on the Knoebels doorstep tomorrow. Never been there, wanting to go there for years, finally happening, all within three hours time. Would have posted on the calander, but there wasn't time to organize a meeting. Anyone going tomorrow, don't be afraid to say hello and ask me to ride a coaster with them. See my profile pic. I'll have the same type of shirt on, only in red. See you on the midway.

No need to be sorry, cool to hear of someone else experiencing the park for the first time. How long/when will you be there? (should eat at least one meal there if you can) Also the park is pretty cool at night. Hope you have a great time (and take pics if you can).

My friend went there the other day and waved to the cam and had me save the picture lol, an interesting souvenire. Has anyone else done that? *** Edited 7/31/2006 11:18:17 PM UTC by P18***

Seth, he meant the Coasterbuzz podcast. ;)

http://podcast.coasterbuzz.com/

Not sure which one it is. Can't be too far back.

Nope...Knoebels had a podcast on the Flying Turns project a few months ago. I'm not sure if it is an on-going feature but I am fairly certain [without actually checking myself] that there is a link for it somewhere in this thread.

^Yeah, I realized that after he replied back. Oops. Guess I should read more closely next time. :P
zcorpius, I'll miss you by three days. Have a great time anyway. It's going to be a hot one tomorrow, well into the 90's. Drink lots of water, and ride Skloosh.
