First pictures of the new Roller Coaster Tycoon pinball released

Posted | Contributed by Outlane

The new Roller Coaster Tycoon pinball machine is being tested. It was designed by Pat Lawlor Design Inc, and will be manufactured by Stern Pinball. It should go into production within the next 6 to 8 weeks. It's based on the widely popular Roller Coaster Tycoon PC video game. Pat Lawlor has designed many popular pinball machines, including Twilight Zone, Addams Family, RoadShow and Funhouse, just to name a few.

I wish they had a part where the ball goes through a loop or a lift hill of some sort. that would be cool...................

Based on one of the pics it looks like its testing at a sports bar or somewhere equivalent. The topic stated that its in Chicago. Anyone know exactly where?

Also, if you notice, the machine is sponsered by none other than ACE. (On the backglass shot, upper-left) This might be a carry over from sponsership of the PC game, but I'm not sure.

But, I agree. It'd look swell next to my Addams Family.

And it's by Pat Lawlor, my pinball idol. (Debating really hard on getting his Monopoly game next)

And for those of you NOT familiar with Visual Pinball for the PC, I'd suggest you acquaint yourself with it @ http://www.vpforums.com

Good stuff.

Chitown - Here is some info that I grabbed from RCTalk:

the only complete game is currently on test at a little bar in
Streamwood IL called Season Tickets. (It's on Barrington Rd, south of I90

Hope that helps.

I only have two pinball machines. Haunted House from the 80's and an old Baffle Ball from the late 30's. It doesn't even work. We need to replace stuff for it. It was found in our basement when we moved in here. I dont think I will buy the RCT game because it lookes a little boring.
Hey chris, that is about 5 mins from my work. I am going to try to make it out there after work. I will let everyone know how the pinball game is tonight or tomorrow.

Here is a link to the Internet Pinball Database:

It's basicly RCDB for pinball machines.

oooh, a plunger...... I'm in love.

I HATE electronic launching mechanisms (on pinball that is)

there should be a vertical loop ramp somewhere on there.
That looks cool!

Looks sweet! MY all time Favr for the pinball world has got to be Star Treck the Next Generation, followed by Indiana Jones. Whirlpool was a good one too!

Yes I do work for the site www.greatamericanthrills.com. Thanx for asking!

Terminator 2 was a pretty @$$ kicking pinball game too.

I grew up with a Williams Big Ben machine....good times. Moved on to Pinbot and F-14 Tomcat for quite awhile during my formative college years, haven't played much pinball since then...about 15 years' ago....

Oooooh, Pinbot. I wasted many, many hours at The Levee Wash in West Lafayette playing some Pinbot.

chris - who, like gator, hasn't played much since my college days.

Mmmmmm........Pinbot.

Hate to say it, but most of the playfields these days are too crowded to be any fun. They play more like a Pachinko machine than a pinball machine. Say, does Cedar Point still have a working Fireball machine?

Generic, isn't it?

The worst thing about newer machines is that they have magnets near the flippers to make it harder to catch.

Either that, or I'm imagining the weird changes of direction. Someone who knows pinball machines - why do they do that?

The kiddies on here won't understand the thrill of pinball.
I have fond memories of playing mainly (in the 80's) Black Night, Gorgar, Playboy, Kiss, Haunted House...all I can think of right now. Plus I saw a neat Indiana Jones pin back a few years ago.

Am I a dork for thinking Baby Pac-Man was the coolest Pinball machine ever? =)

Ok ok, so it's a hybrid.. but still... heh

You know what, I thought it was cool when I was a kid, but as a grown up I think it's terrible. They've had two at the shop I got my JP machine and can't get rid of them. They've also got a Granny and the Gators, which was based on the same cabinet. Haven't played that one.

The machine I really want is a Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga cocktail style machine, still available new. :)
