Favorites?

Alright, I doubt this will lead to flaming.... Don't be stupid and sarcastic.

What are you favorite songs to listen to and dance to?

I love to listen to Dub-I-Dub. They even played it on Energy 92.7 & 5 (gone. :( ) The dance however has those weird adjacent arrow jumps I can't land.

My favorite to dance? That would be Celebrate Night on Kanomix. Everyone is amazed that I can B that. I can't A any non-Disney song! Help!

47 days...

I like the oldies. Let's Groove, (That song by Olivia Newton John), Witch Doctor, and a few others. Hearing them revamped for a video game is pretty great.
Jeez - there's so many. As far as steps go, I love almost every song with gallops (Tsugaru, True Radio Edit, Luv to Me, Matsuri Japan, My Generation, Abyss, Speed Over Beethoven, 321 Stars, Gentle Stress, etc.), and I love songs with fast jumps (Maxx Unlimited, Speed Over Beethoven, etc.). I also love songs with lots of off-beat steps (Era, Trip Machine, Can't Stop Fallin' in Love Speed Mix, Nori Nori Nori).

I also like to listen to all those songs I mentioned. In fact, I can think of only one song where I like the steps but not the music, and that's Let Them Move.

As I've only played the PS2 DDRMax and 3 times at a Max2, 7th Mix in Florida, my favorites are limited, but I can't get over ones with lots of jumps like Groove 2001 (I'm still a high-end light to low-end standard player) or Stomp to My Beat. My Generation Standard is a lot of fun too.

swimmerkev: If you're talking about not being able to get A's on songs on Konamix, that's not unusual. It's based on the 4th mix engine and requires that you get a full combo (all perfects & greats) to get an A. It's the same as getting an AA on DDRMAX, and I believe an AA or AAA on 3rd mix/USA mix (I believe a gold AAA is all perfects, though I may be slightly off on that). So don't feel too bad about not being able to get an A on those songs, 4th mix was ridiculously obnoxious when it came to getting A's.

Back to the favorites thing, Cow Girl on the arcade DDRMAX is still a favorite. It's amazing just how ridiculous things can get when there's two guys galloping on an arcade machine, doing the arse-smack / lasso thing while the machine sings "I'm a cow girl!" I know, it's weird, but it's fun. Also, Dam Dariam (4th Mix Plus, others) Butterfly (4th Mix Plus, others), Look to the Sky (DDRMAX), Trance De Janeiro (DDRMAX2), Burning Heat (DDRMAX2), Tsugaru (DDRMAX2), Era (many), Holic (many), Sana Ne Somethingorother (DDRMAX US) and Ecstasy (DDRMAX US) are probably my personal favorites. And yes, I know most of those songs were on other mixes as well, I just don't know them all offhand ;)

I wish that I could keep up on things like Burning Heat Maniac, but I'm just not in good enough shape ;)

Tom - I agree with all your choices. Burning Heat is da whip, but one of the hardest heavy songs... I can't even attempt it. You've got to think in triplets the whole song. I love Cowgirl too, though it's embarrasing to play. At least I don't play It's Rainin' Men! ;)

I should mention that I like every song I can think of with stops or tempo changes. Some of the best stops are HV:AM, Telephone Operator, Abyss, 321 Stars, Insertion, Burning Heat and Ecstasy. Some of the best tempo changes are Maxx Unlimited, Era, Healing Vision, Let's Groove, Insertion, Ska a Go Go, Burning the Floor Momo Mix and Paranoia Survivor.

The song that hooked me was Boom Boom on the first DDR, althoughI also like Have you ever been mellow.

On DDR Max, my favs are Cutie Chaser, Exotic Ethnic, Sandstorm, Sana Ne (something or other), My Summer Love, Rythym and Police, Move it, Jam & Marmalade and Deep Dark Forest.

I am strictly limited to the PSX. Here are my favorites for the two versions I play:

DDR USA: El Ritmo Tropicale, 20.November

Disney Mix: Summer Love, Twist & Shout, Fire

Bob Hansen

Operation Wicked Twister
Goal: Lose enough weight (50lbs) to ride Wicked Twister in 2K3
Progress: 25 pounds since 1-1-2003

Bob, why don't you get Konamix? You'd be surprised by the number and quality of songs on it. I am pretty sure I like the songs on Konamix better than those on DDR MAX.

Steph and I have been switching between the two, and it's an even call.

I picked up the Darude CD with Sandstorm on it. If you like the song on DDR, you'll probably like the entire disc. Check it here:

You WILL NOT believe it. This weekend I have played DDR for a total of 3-4 hours with me friend. I got an A on Drop the Bomb! I ended on a 199 combo! The A was sparkly and I felt so proud. (I feel so stupid saying it that way.)

Anyways, he has DDRMAX, and I have new favorites. My generation happens to be my new favorite. It has the best steps as well. I got to play Sandstorm which has been at "the top of my chart" or non- DDR songs for awhile. I am a strong Techno fan. That's why I like DDR.

Also, does anyone know where I can can purchase pads like my friend has? They are one inch thick with semi-hard foam. They have a zipper along the outside. Also, they have up-left, up-right, down-left, and down-right panels (like PIU) instead of X, O, triangle, and square. Anyone know where they are sold?

Finally, thank you for not flaming or saying "my favorite is the TOS".

I got the Darude CD last night, and Jeff is correct, if you like Sandstorm, you'll like the rest of the CD. Had it blasting in my car this morning on the way to work.

Swimmerkev, if you haven't figured it out yet, check out the PS2Mats thread. Jeff provided a link to the pads you are talking about.

Okay, I know I'm cheesy, but. . .

I really love happy songs like Only You, Cowgirl, Petit Love, Pink Dinosaur, Dancing Pompolokin and The 7 Jump. :)

-or- depending on my mood, I like speedy songs. . .

Captain Jack (Grandale Remix), Wonda (Speed K Mix), Afronova Primeval, Can't Stop Falling in Love (Speed Mix)

and finally, Lupin' the 3rd '78 when I want to get my disco action on.

(and yeah, I spend a lot of time on a 5th Mix machine)

~ Maddie

Don't feel bad... I love the happy songs too. I love playing Cowgirl, Nori Nori Nori, www.blondegirl, Baby Love Me, Waka Laka, Cartoon Heroes, Candy, etc. But I don't play them often if there are people around!
