You know what, the member only language until such and such a date was from the last event because we didn't know what to expect. I think we'll be OK this time.

I do not own a belt however I picked up a park map and I think I can now find my way to the water park without instruction.
If you are staying at the campground and want to get as many of our rv's together as possible. You can email the campground and let them know. Below is a note I received with my reservation.

"However, we are unaware of where the rest of the Coaster people are staying and that is one of our Halloween weekends so our space is very limited. If you would like you could email us back and let us know. Thank You!"

Ok, so the RV thing is out of the question.

Any comments/opinions on Santa's Lodge? I took my own advice and checked tripadvisor.com reviews and it's quite a mixed bag. Seems very hit-or-miss and that inconsistency scares me.

Upon reading through them it also seem that people who choose the newer wing (and slightly higher price) seem to be more ok with the place and those who didn't complain more.

Since the campground is booked (except for a few random RV nights and tent sites), is Santa's Lodge a safe choice or am I going to be on here ripping the place to shreds come October 1st?

I thought the suite I stayed in with five friends for HWN was great. It's not a Hilton or Marriot by any means, but nicer than a budget motel for sure. Perhaps the only thing that may be nicer and is close by would be the Baymont in Dale I believe.

I've always stayed at Santa's Lodge, and never had any complaints. The two most recent times I was in the newer wing, and was very pleased. And it looks like they still have rooms available in the newer wing for that weekend. They also have wireless internet available.

Ok, cool. I saw there were still newer rooms available, so maybe I go for it.

Thanks guys. :)

Just don't eat there. That place downstairs is absolutely nasty.

What are you talking about Jeff?

There's a restaurant at Santa's Lodge. It's vile and disgusting.

I agree Jeff. In fact, the whole place has a creepy "Twilight Zone" feel to it.

Is the new section of the hotel much nicer than the old section? I had stayed in the new section at Holiwood Nights last year, and was thinking of staying in the old section this year.

You guys aren't exactly reassuring. :)

What happened to staying in Dale?

I think you guys should suck it up and pitch a tent. The kids will love it. ;)

We still have the room in Jasper. Have had that reservation since mid-May. Just weighing the options to be a little closer to the fun. (which is so against what it is to be Gonch in the first place :) )

Wait until you check out the old lady singing karaoke in the bar. Do-de-do-do. :)

Oh yeah, and the seven inches of dust on the Xmas decorations. :(

I've stayed at Santa's Lodge every time I've been to Holiday World, and that includes before the new wing was built at all.

It's not the Kempinski Hotel Adlon (nicest...hotel...evar...that I've stayed at that is :) ) but I've never had any serious complaints. I've even enjoyed a drink or two downstairs, but that IS a place to people watch. The newer rooms are definitely nicer and worth the extra expense.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Where else would you eat though? I mean it's like in the middle of no where. We ate there because there was nothing else close, and we didn't feel like driving into the next city. The grocery store in that town was pretty expensive too.
I can't even begin to tell you all how excited I am about this event. Work has not been fun for me lately and I need a break sooooo bad!

My group is staying at Santa's Lodge. I really wanted to stay in the RV's, but they were all booked up by the time I called. :( Major bummer. At least there's a nice gazebo at Santa's Lodge where the guys can smoke their cigars and my friend and I can enjoy a glass or two of wine.

I told our friends that are joining us not to expect anything spectacular at this hotel. Holiday World is the center of town and there's nothing around for miles.

Gonch - We stayed at the Comfort Inn last year, it seemed nice! Pretty decent breakfast, but can get a bit congested if everyone else decides to have breakfast at the same time.

Jeff - Thanks for the tip about the restaurant. Maybe we should consider packing our own food. ;) *** Edited 9/4/2007 5:09:24 PM UTC by coasterlover325***

I'd rather be riding Roller Coasters....or baking.
