This has been brought up before @ http://www.coasterbuzz.com/forums/thread.asp?ForumID=20&TopicID=25866. The Problem is an advertiser know as WaMu Home Loans is using an Advertisement that is so invasive that it is having a denail of service attack on who ever veiws it by crashing our browsers via a stack dump error. We can't get around to paying the extra $20 a month becasue this advertiser crashes our browser before we can even get near the pay page.
We can't use an adblocker becasue it is against CB TOS. The Web Page address for the DOSing advertiser is http://www.wamuhomeloans.com/index.jsp.

Yeah, they're annoying, but I've never had problems with it doing anything bad to my computer.
It's funny because I've just gotten to the point where I go to the next page, go right down to the bar that displays the sites you are on, and right click as soon as it comes on. It's like a routine.
I know this is probably a stupid question Jeff, but why does it cost so much to have this site? At first I though it would definetly cost a lot. However, I know someone who just put up a website and it costs very little to run. Why is this?

Note to advertisers: pop-up ads get you quickly added to my "boycott list." Since when is annoying your potential customers good business?
I haven't had the problem on CB but other sites have caused a lot of problems for me (with IE).

I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

Jeff answered that question in another thread. Just "putting up a website" sounds like they only created the pages (pretty dern cheap). Jeff not only has the pages and the software, he has the servers, the T1, and the bandwidth to pay for too, and that aint cheap. Not to mention the time and effort involved in maintaining two very popular moderated discussion forums.
Thanks, Jeff.

You don't get four pop-ups on the same page because it isn't possible. There's potential to get two at the same time, but only on the first page, and even then it doesn't happen that often.
The ads are a necessary evil. Ever since DoubleClick started dropping sites last year, including this one, it's been hard to break even. If it weren't for the club there would be no site right now.

djhush,
a) Jeff is not trying to "make money" he is trying to "break-even"...
b) if you have no problems accessing this site from your roomies computer, then the problem lies with your computer...not this site.

djhush, I did read your entire post, and nowhere in them did you mention your computer wasn't top of the line.
Besides, I still stand by my statement that the problem is with your computer, not this site, as I have no problems accessing CBuzz from an old Pentium 100 when I visit my mother-in-law's house...

Sawblade, I was some what intrigued by your post. So I glanced through the TOS, and saw this:
"You agree when viewing pages on CoasterBuzz.com to not use any kind of ad-blocking software, and agree to be held liable for any damages or loss of revenue to POP World Media, LLC in the event you do use such software."
Unfortunately for me, I can't read something like this and not say something. This is almost as ridiculous as the time when Geocities, right after Yahoo! purchased it, basically said it OWNED everything you put on their servers, and by putting it there, you signed over all rights, and they could use it however they pleased. This is different though.
Exactly how in the world does someone plan to enforce a statement like that? Do you actually take users of your site to court, and fight them for damages? Or, is this just a scare tactic to try and get people that know little about computers, and think that somehow it is known to the website operator that they are using an ad block program, to stop using it?
What exactly would people think, if say, ABC included in a TOS that if you turn the station during a commercial of a program you are watching, that they would sue you? There would be a few suckers that would follow the rules, scared of getting sued by the big bad a$$ scary man, and his hired defenders.
In fact, out of curiosity, I checked a few other big name sites. I saw nothing even close to this type of statement. It is amusing because a good majority of the TOS involves relieving CB of any liabilities. Which is fine, but then appears as if it will in fact go after users with legal action. What if one of these ads were to cause my computer to crash, and I lost an important document, at least you go your money!
I'm thinking Internet users should make their own individual TOS's. Any site allowing a user to access it, would automatically agree to be bound by said TOS. Well at any rate, that idea is as ridiculous as the one above, so why not?

Of course, you could always use your God-given, forefathers-fought-and-died-for, wrap-yourself-in-the-flag-and-sing-the-anthem right to post somewhere else, right? If it stinks so bad, why do you keep sticking your nose in it?
I chose to join the Club instead, small print and all. I post, I read, I laugh (though sometimes for all the wrong reasons) etc, etc. Last year I opted in primarily for access to events, but at this point I'd stay in primarily to support the site. Next year CBaby and Da Midget will be little Buzzers too.

I'm glad you're amused, Eric. It's about time you started laughing at something.

You know, if I was an adverstiser, and someone who's too cheap to put up $20.00 to get an add free version of a site decided to boycott me, do you think I would care? Nahh, I'd be more concerned about the visitors who paid the $20.00. They're the ones I want, they've got cash. I couldn't care less about some broke *$$ whiner who's too cheap to put up $20.00 to stop my adds
