Ever Feel unsafe or like something was wrong?

I was at Adventureland in Iowa last year and while riding the Dragon I noticed a crack in the road wheel.  It was about 3 inches long and you could stick a penny in the gap.  I alerted the ride ops and the mechanic but they didn't do anything about it.  The mechanic said "Oh well just let it fall off."  Now that ride scared me because all I could think of is somthing like the Mindbender incident happening.

Chiller1472, i meant if something was to go wrong, i hope the brakes at the top work.
I was riding the Mantis @ Cedar Point.  After the first loop, the shoulder restraint unlatched.  The only thing keeping me from flying out was the restraint belt.  Right before the train returned to the station, it relatched.  CP's probably got it automatically relatching so no one can file a complaint

Ooooo, try riding SFMW's Roar. Those lap bars pop up all the time.  Thank God for seatbelts.

I sometimes wish my lapbar would pop up...those things are so heavy.

Skater for life!

Yes.. just as RideMan said, its obvious some of you are over exadurating and/or completly lying... :) [Especially the double loop story where they forgot to push down the pedals... yea right...] Sorry, try again!
sfdl dude, I don't know who made up the double loop story, but during Fright Fest at WoA, they had a crew on DL that paid no attention at all. It was actually frightening (hence Fright Fest ;) ). Seriously, I belive they would forget the pedal. DL get's the last choice of operaters.

No, I am just saying, even if they did forget the pedal, I would be freaked out too (X-flight... somebodys restraints were not closed) and just seeing the seats recline back with the knee restraint up freaked me out...

... but the fact is it wouldn't run the whole ride like that, even if the train were to dispatch.

You want to see something really scary? Watch the top of the second hill on the Big Dipper at Camden Park as the train crests it.

Sadly I know what your talkin about. What's sad is that was my fav ride when i was like 9 years old. I wouldn't dare ride that thing now.

I don't know about any of you but these posts really worry me. I'm not so much worried about going on a coaster myself but I fear more for the industry itself. Maybe new coaster laws should be put into place. What if the few of you who had their restraints blown open hadn't had the time or strength to close them? Some of these stories could have ended in disaster. I know this sounds kinda dumb, and maybe some of you are BSing but I can't help but wonder what could have happened...
The only time I have felt unsafe is at Hershey Park when I was in line for the Wild Mouse and I was planning to ride the Choas next, well they were testing it (i don't know why) and mid-run it stopped spinning and the cars locked, some upside-down, and it had to be lowered down and the chairs had to be manually released. I decided to wait anyway and got the next ride, I felt that the ride was much more wild than other Chaoses and thought I felt it hesitate in the transitions sometimes.

Wow, with all of these stories about lap bars popping off I am getting a little scared!!  Well, If anyone has been on Raging Bull, That first drop pulls you down so hard that if your lap bar popped off......well...all I can say is SpLaT!!!

IMO these rides should have seat belts too!

My Top steel: Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raging Bull, Desperado, Speed the Ride. Wood: Viper, American Eagle, Twister II, Zeus, Cyclops.

coasteraddict, no one's lap bar popped "off."  Honestly, I've taken thousand upon thousand upon thousands of rides on coasters and flats, etc, and only twice has my bar done something it shouldn't have.  Not to mention, both times, either there was a redundant safety system such as a seat belt (Thunder Run) or the harness was still locked, just came up a couple of notches (Steel Phantom).  I was never in any danger.

Overreacting to some of the reports isn't good, you're very safe on rides!

"That's BS you MF! They're WT!" -- CP's R&D team

The real key is that on so many coasters, you would be safe without an active restraint. Even mondo airtime machines like Magnum XL-200 are built so that you won't get high enough off the seat to get away from the train. I've had enough interesting experience with forgotten debris left in the train to know that much...!

I have a couple

I'm a first hand rider on boomerrang mw when it got stuck between the corkscrews, as we dropped down the drop I heard someone yell was that supossed to happen, and then we could all hear whip sounds, this was all in like 5 seconds then the ride came to a screaching horrifyingly painful stop!!!!

the space warp 2000 at the fair ( gravitational force spinning ride) starrted to make these weird clanking sounds as if something was breaking, it was, the ride slowly lowered back down to the ground, the ride official or wutever you call him told us something was wrong and that it was going to be stopped, about 3 quarters of the way down when being lowered came to ascreaching stopp, it was quite funny, the walls were padded! there waas no worry.

lastly when i was on drop zone  pga we were at the top of the ride and one of the opperators( thats the word) started waving like something was wrong, we didnt drop, but i'd seen it happen to people before after 5 minutes they dropped, after a while everyone dropped but us (just my luck!), some one came climbing up, omg i was scared, but haha, the ride noticed that the persons lap bar wasnt all the way and there seatbelt attachy thing or whatever wasnt on, her was lucky!!!!!

I feel unsafe everytime I ride a Vekoma SLC! Hehe. Seriously though, one time on the Mind Eraser at SFNE, the train started to slow down as we neared the top of the lift.  Sees the engine stopped before it was supposed to. They have always had problems with that coaster, as it has gotten stuck on the lift many times and people have had to get taken off with a cherry picker truck. Anyways, the train lurched inch by inch as we were a yard from the crest and after what seemed like hours, the train finally (and very slowly) came off the lift. This was acceptable, especcially since this was the first day of operation in the 2000 season.
Once while riding raging bull I saw a support beam shaking big time. When I got on it I was worried that the track was gonna come apart and the train was gonna crash.
the first time the train stopped when it was going up the lift when i wuz on it. I'm not sure wheather it was on ninja or GASM at SFOG, but it sure scared the hell out of me.

also, the parachute ride at SFOG (forget what it's called). all it has holding you in are a seat belt and a very small bar that you could easily fit under. i still hate that ride and i hate going on it.

Drachen Fire, RIP: 1992-1998 Dismantled 2002

I was once riding Hercules in Dorney Park and the lapbar came up about 12 inches off my lap and stood that way. I pushed it down and it wouldent so i just tightened my seatbelt and held on a bit but it was better that way becuase you feel so much free and you dont even need the lapbar its just there. Also on  feel insurcure while riding Nitro becuase I get scared the lapbar is going to fly right off my lap and I have nuthing to hang onto.... i wish it had a seatbelt on the side of the bar or somthing.
