Ever Feel unsafe or like something was wrong?

X seems to be having real restraint issues. The upward restraints came loose on the ride the second time I rode. I was on the front/left/outside seat.

OK anyway, I think that we were the "test dummies" for this ride.  I think that these restraints are soo complex that they are malfunctioning due to overworking them, or they are just too complex.  This ride will definatly need some major restraint repair before opening to the GP, I don't think they will like the feeling of restraints opening up on them halfway through the ride!  I know I sure didn't!

Hopefuly on the back of our SFMM season pass in small print it dosent say "if you die on X as a test dummie it isnt our fault"
LOL!

Yea, I was riding hangtime at dorny park once and i was the only person in a single row of people so i had no people to kinda give the sqwush effect, and during the ride i was flying all over the place becuase my harnest was really lose.It may be a flat ride but it is scary to be hanging upside down at that hight all alone and leaning tord the sides and almost falling out!, and Viper at SFgadv i always feel kinda weary about the restainets it has, becuase they feel like they can pop open any sec.I think seatbelts should be a standered thing on all rides.
When you sit on the front seat on Wild Thing at Valleyfair the train lifts up on the 3rd hill and goes back down that makes me a little unconfertable. Would anyone know why the 1st car of the train lifts up on the 3rd hill?

The 1st car would lift off the track because it has enough upwards inertia to make it continue that way until the upstop wheels hit the underside of the track, stopping the upward motion.

I have no signature.
Once I was riding Hoosier Hurricane (front car I believe) and when we hit the brake run after the bunny hops, I felt the car come up off the tracks right when it stopped...and as soon as the brakes released, I felt it drop and then continue...it was an odd feeling!

I don't think anyone else noticed, but it was just something I had never felt before on it!

(sort of similiar to the lifting off the chain lift)

The only times I felt unsafe on a coasters were on Stealth for the first time and on Medusa (SFMW).  On Stealth, naturally I was surprised at flipping onto my stomach and thought I was going to fall out.  That thought left my mind a millisecond after.  I think the reason was that being in the back row, you flip over very suddenly.  On Medusa, we stopped at the brake run due to a computer error.  Then, we slowly continued thanks to gravity.  Since our speed started from zero instead of 'X' MPH, we crawled through the corkscrews.  During the last one, the train got so slow I fell "up" into my OTSR's.  Not to mention there were only 10 people on the train.

I felt tremendously unsafe on Diadarasaurus at Expoland in Osaka, Japan.  This particular ride is the only coaster that I can recall that runs on a true train rail.  Very weird, very loud, and downright scary...  right, Chris?

I don't feel unsafe (although other people might), but it's funny watching the cars jump onto the lift on Wildcat at CP! ;)

phantoms_revenge_rules, did you not notice that Phantom's Revenge would also release the lap bars as the train left the station? I don't remember ever noticing that on Steel Phantom because the shoulder bars were not spring loaded, but it's typical for the PR lap bars to pop up a notch as the train leaves the station. But once on the lift, the mechanism is locked again, and pulling down on the bar will snug it back up if you so desire.

ACEerCG, there is supposed to be a pedal-checker located near the base of the lift...if it miscounts pedals, the lift should stop. Apparently that wasn't working the day you visited.....

timmyk, all Jet Stars are supposed to be like that. :)

Glitch01, when the car careened into the brake it had enough momentum that the brake fin tried to climb the caliper. That's fairly common, and of course, when the brake opens, the car drops back down again. You would only notice it if you happened to be in the car that is over the caliper.

themonkeymaster99, what probably happened is that one of the cars wasn't securely attached (via the chain clutch) to the lift chain, and let go until one of the other chain clutches caught. Either that, or that particular train has a chain clutch on the lead car, and the spacing didn't allow the clutches further back to engage....when the lead car went over the top, it disengaged and the car bumped back so the other clutches could catch. I hope that makes sense! Knoebels' Whirlwind does it every time because that train has an extra chain clutch.

You want to see something really scary? Watch the top of the second hill on the Big Dipper at Camden Park as the train crests it.

Going around the turn of Blue Streak (CP) before the lifthill, my lapbar jumped up. I immediately lowered it, and held it down for the ride..

Well, the first drop anyway... I put my hands up after that :)

Everytime I get on Psyclone at SFMM I feel unsafe, just because it feels like the ride is going to derail when the train goes through a turn. I feel a little safer now compared to when it first opened and it was real rough and fast. Psyclone use to scare the s**t out of me!
I feel unsafe whenever I see operators that aren't paying attention to what they are doing.

I should probably feel even more unsafe on the the drives to and from the park.  I know half of those people on the road aren't paying attention to what they are doing.

I swear all these stories of restraints flying up are greatly exagerated, sure they may pop a notch but I have never experienced one coming completely loose.  Especially still letting people ride if they do that, doesn't sound Kosher to me.

I'll chime in with Jim Fisher. I hate it when the restraints are checked by a ride-op simply tapping the restraint and not pulling up on it. Of course I hate getting stapled too.

My scariest moment was on the Scandia Screamer, back seat. The lapbar kept popping up a notch. I kept pushing it back down, but it kept popping up again. That was one ride that I WANTED to be stapled. Scandia Screamer is one incredibly powerful "small" Miler coaser!

And then once in a while someone who is paying very close attention to what he is doing will do something wrong, with dramatic consequences. :(

Been there, done that, and luckily, walked away with nothing worse than some poison ivy. Screwed up my roller-coasting for the whole month of July for the second straight year. :(

Who still doesn't understand how that first skid happened...

One time when I was on CannonBall Run in Alabama we were going up the lift hill and the car felt like it jumped up off the tracks.  I think it was because we were the only ones on the train, so the chain pulled harder than it had to.

The same thing happened to me when I rode it. The only thing wrong I can think of is a loose or broken upstop. It just might be a tendency of the ride for whatever reason though. It’s pretty scary when you’re not expecting it. It only happens to the right side of the front car if my memory serves correct.
