Ever drive by a park but could not stop?

I drove by frontier city and adventureland this summer, but couldn't stop at either. I saw Outlaw beckoning me, too. However, I had to pick one of three parks, and I think I made the best choice with SFSTL. I will get to go to adventureland this summer, too, as part of my crazy road trip, so it's no big loss! :)
Dorney Park, The Great Escape, Six Flags New England, Lake Compounce, and Paramount's Kings Dominion, just to name a few......

Although, as an interesting addendum to what Kara said (like it wasn't freaky enough, eh?), though asleep for a good majority of the trip to both the Outer Banks and the Amish Country, I did awaken just in time to catch a fleeting glimpse of both Dorney and PKI...must be some psychic connection to the parks...THAT is either the mark of the true enthusiast, or the true psycho case.

I drive past SFGAm a bunch of times during the winter and every once in awhile I drive past PKI.
hmm..I think I would go with the pyscho case.  I'm just kidding.  I did the same thing going to disneyland, I slept from san diego all the way there, we didnt even get off the exit yet, and I woke up.

I was on the train going to Chicago and we passed Kennywood and me and my mom drove to L.A. and we passed the exit to go to Magic Mountain.

i have passed pki ( saw it on the highway) also sea world orlando many times becuase when i went on my vacation to florida i stayed at the marriot resort which is basically right across the street from the park, so everywhere we went their was kraken looming in the background. The good part is i actually got to visit the park unlike pki which i have still to date never visited in my life.
Every year when we drive to Holiday World for Stark Raven Mad from New Jersey we pass by (in order) Dorney Park, Hersheypark, Knoebels, Lakemont, Dutch Wonderland, Williams Grove, PKI, SFWoA, SFKK, and a couple others. Not exactly passing *right* by the park, but going through the general area or past their exit on the highway or whatever...
Two standout to me....

I passed by Camden Park for years and years prior to going.  As a kid the highlight of the trip up north from VA to visit my Sister in Ohio was spotting the Big Dipper from I-64 on the hillside above.  Of course the dream was smashed when I finally attended Camden Park last season ;-)

Also, in 1982... I think... My family travelled to Disney.  We left there and then passed Circus World (later became Boardwalk and Baseball) on the way to, of all places, Cypress Gardens.  Eeeeeeyuk  I snapped pics from a nearby gas station which I still have.  It was in the middle of the "Grand Expansion Celebration" at the Ringling owned park and the Weiner Looping was brand new.  I begged and begged to go, by my folks just had hurry and get to Cypress to ride "The Island in the Sky."  OIY VEY.  This was also followed by the most traumatic experience of my life... a trip to an alligator farm.  Let's just say I am horrifically petrified of the things.  My parents sure got a kick out of my terror though.  That's ok, they got theirs... it rained the whole time at Cypress Gardens.  LOL

Sure, I had to drive by 2 parks because of my will to go to HW. We drove by Camden Park, and I thought it would be fun to drive by SFKK. Never-the-less I found it more cool than dissapointing.

On a trip from Michigan to New Jersey...CP, Hershey, Dorney, Six Flags...so close and yet so far.  Early last year we drove to Chicago and I ALMOST had my husband talked into hitting Michigan's Adventure (had our CP season passes with us), but when he realized he'd have to drive an hour north to get there, he nixed the idea.  But he promised to take me later on in the summer, and did.

We have driven past Martin's Fantasy Island in New York (home of the CCI Silver Comet) without stopping.  That was pretty disheartening.  But the worst came in 1997 when we drove from San Francisco to Anaheim along the Pacific Coastal Highway and drove right past the exit for the Santa Cruz beach area.  We were no more than 10 minutes away from the SC Beach Boardwalk and its classic Giant Dipper.  Such a shame, really, but we just didn't have the time.

Robcoasting, what kind of weird route do you take from NJ to Indiana that takes you by PKI *before* SFWoA?  PKI is like 4 hours southwest of SFWoA.  Or did you just mix those up? ;)

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."
I drive by SFMM on the way to work every day. And given the choice between work and getting beat up by Flashback? I'd choose getting my butt kicked every time. ;)

Whenever I go to Chicago (I live in Milwaukee) I drive right past SFGAm. My parents get mad because I start talking about it. "There's Deja Vu and V2!!!! Look at The Giant Drop! Oh I wish I could be up there now." Always the same.
