Elitch Coaster Update

The main problem is not cash, the main problem is space. Cash is a problem, but that is not their biggest concern. They are the leading park in Colorado, and while a portable coaster may seem like a insult to a big park, for a park like sfeg it is almost a blessing.

WOW! I just can't get over how awesome that looks! And it fits in a small space! Where's a good place it would fit at SFGAM? Hmmmm. A place on the midway and w/o taking anything down. Maybe in that small piece of land between the Giant Drop and Eagle and Raging Bull. I wonder if it would fit there, they'd have to modify the line for Giant Drop I think though but WOW! And it's like a flying coaster cause your lying down! Am I the only one that thinks it looks pretty dam- cool?

Milwaukee Wisconsin, we bring you beer, brats and cheese. But don't be fooled, "Milwaukee truly is a special secret getaway that I will be sure to tell my friends about!" Erin Brockevich, not to mention that we are an hour from SFGAm........

What a truly strange lift system!

Six Flags has many portable kiddie and junior coasters at their parks plus Taz's Texas Tornado at Astroworld that comes to mind right off. Cedar Fair has portables set up at both Cedar Point (Wildcat) and Dorney (Laser).

I guess I never really though of how many portables some have. Where is this one going to go at EG?

Off with the trims!

Texas Tornado dropped the "Taz" years ago, btw.

And it should be open again soon!

The Volare is going to go behind Twister II, they are going to re-route the path I guess to accomidate both rides.

Is this a family coaster?

Just let me defend the park for a minute. Everyone says the park has "low attendance" but this place can and does get packed. People make worse assumptions on other boards but lines can get long and do sometimes run outside the queue houses. Even last year with no new rides, weekends and Fright Fest were insane. Especially with a new ride, I think it might be madness at this "small, unliked and unwanted park."

In other news, I think it is impressive that the commercial is showing actual Elitch Gardens coasters and rides.

mamba, I generally don't think family coasters have barrel rolls unless I'm mistaken.

Rollercoasters are my life, I think about them more than I think about....wait, thats all I think about :)

I read a article on it, and in it they say this Zamperla's attemp to move into the bigger coaster world. So they started out with a medium size coaster.

J., I am not saying that SFEG is horrible or anything, I am saying that since it has a low attendence record compared to other parks, the ride capacity of the Volare will not be as bad compared to it being at a park with a higher attendence record. Granted, the lines can get long, and do get long. But not compared to a park that has a higher attendence.

I think a lot of assumptions about EG are being made by people that really aren't all that familiar with the park...

-----------------
If the shoe fits, find another one.

I'm just trying to say capacity will be an issue, while some people seem to shrug it off. This is a new type of ride never installed in a park before.

If it is true (which it probably is), and there are blue supports, I would imagine a Superman theme/name. Hmmmmm.... What would Six Flags name a Superman themed "flying" coaster??? How 'bout Superman:Ultimate Flight! Already got the Logo's and artwork on the printing press for SFoG, why not share the name like they do with everything else.

My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

Dude, I would be so pissed it they did name it Superman: Ultimate Flight. It would be like comparing the two. I really don't think that they'll name it this. The supports on Zamperla's are also blue, so it could very possibly share this same color scheme. I personally think that they will name the coaster Volare.

Yes, I agree capacity will be an issue. Capacity will be an issue with any ride, especially a coaster. It just won't be a nightmare is what I am saying.

ravenguy98, not to start a debate or anything, but according to your profile, you live in central kentucky, and according to your track record, you have never been to SFEG. so who are you to say some people are making assumptions about the park when you have never been there yourself. i don't want to start a arugment i am just asking.

I agree with Ravenguy 100%. I think he is just trying to say that people shouldn't judge a park they haven't been to. For example, I have not been to SFWOA, therefore I have absolutely no idea what it is like. It is the kind of people who say "park X sucks because it looks like a bad park" that he is directing his statement to. Anyway, SFEG is my homepark, and I will be the first to say that it is small and gets boring after a while. Hiowever, it still provides the best thrills in Denver, and the season pass prices can't be beat. It is not the kind of park that you can go to 20 or 30 days a summer, like Cp or SFMM.

It has 2 barrel rolls. For a small park like SFEG this coaster will be nice. Im interested to see what the speed of it will be.

----------------

I saw on the Zamperla website that the top sepeed is 25.7 mph. Not too fast, but would you reall want to go through those tight turns at a very high speed? I still think that this will be considered a family coaster, which is something that SFEG needs, among other things. It will be a nice addition to the park.

BTW, I don't know what the name will be yet, but I am almost posititve that it is going behind Twister II. It will be a nice touch, having that Blue and Orange track across the highway from Mile High Stadium. The broncos will love it.

Kind of sounds like ravenguy98 is sticking up for EG and now you're attacking him for it? That makes a lot of sense.
I'm not "attacking" ravenguy98. It just seems hypicritical to me for him to say that "people are judging the park when they aren't familar with it", how familar can he be with it if he has never been to it.

Smart man.

Why in the $!@# would you have to go to a park before you can make the observation that people are making assumptions about it? He's not making any assumptions about it. He is simply pointing out that others are. Chill out!
I think that the big misconception is that low attendance means no attendance. Maybe low attendance when compared to a chain with several, isn't necessarily low attendance for the small 70 acre park. Anyways I have never seen the figures so I don't know how low and "bad" Elitch's attendance is. Sure someone can say that they don't like the park because it is small and expensive but that doesn't mean everyone is avoiding the place.
