Elitch Coaster Update

I recently saw a commercial for SFEG and in it they said something to the effect of "...and come ride our new coaster!" They claim that they are getting something but I keep going to check the park and there are no signs of contruction at all! Isn't it a little late to start on a coaster for the upcoming season? If they are getting one, it must be small if it can be completed in a couple of months.
I drove by the other night but it was too dark to see anything. There have been "reports" that there are blue supports near the Batman Stunt Show but that's it.

Anyway, it won't take long to build a Zamperla Flyer.

Here we go again...
It's a Zamperla Volare (http://www.zamperlarides.com/main/volare.htm). It's been confirmed by people at AB.

So can someone clever explain to me how the lift on this thing works?

I just read on coasternet that track has started to arrive along with supports.

I think the spiral track is the lift. There is some mechanism in the center that grabs the car, then twists and lifts the car like a wine corkscrew.

Exactly WHAT MAKES it work and WHY they made that way, I have no idea.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

It looks really pretty awesome.

Jeff... Looks to me like it has a spinning center section, and with a horizontal rod attached to the car, it connects to that center section and it pulls it along the upward track.

There will probally be blocking for 2 cars on the lift

I still wanna know what they are going to call it, Volare or what, I guess I should wait until they actually announce it though.

It looks pretty fun though, even though it lacks a big drop.

That is just about the strangest lift I have ever seen. Looks like a fun ride but also a capacity nightmare. It almost looks like a flying wild mouse, interesting....
As fun as this looks, I bet it will be a capacity nightmare.

A couple weeks ago when I asked about it at my job interview, they told me that the ride was still in Italy being inspected. If track has begun to arrive, that could mean that the coaster will be ready by May or June. I don't think it will take long to put up, and the mandatory month or so for testing will probably put it about 2 months out from the time they start on it. .

"If somebody throws a rock and knocks a man off his donkey, do we say that he's stoned off his ass?

But since it will be at SFEG, capacity will not be that big of a problem since the park isn't that big itself, if you put it at like SFMM or another big park than the wait would be never ending.

Soggy, the reason WHY you have the twisting lift is quite simple. Area. If you look at the length of a traditional straight lift, it extends several hundred feet long, whereas this Volare take up only a small area of cubic feet to get the train (or car) to the top. This idea would really only work with single car coasters, such as a wild mouse.

If it is true (which it probably is), and there are blue supports, I would imagine a Superman theme/name. Hmmmmm.... What would Six Flags name a Superman themed "flying" coaster??? How 'bout Superman:Ultimate Flight! Already got the Logo's and artwork on the printing press for SFoG, why not share the name like they do with everything else.

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

It's at Elitch Gardens, one of the chain's parks with the lowest attendance record. Capacity isn't that big a deal here. Just like a Kentucky Kingdom who's most recent coaster is a wild mouse, these rides do well in smaller parks.

And it looks pretty dang cool.

Does this thing have any inversions or barrel rolls?
It has 2 barrel rolls. For a small park like SFEG this coaster will be nice. Im interested to see what the speed of it will be.

Would Six Flags really stoop so low as to give one of their parks a portable coaster? Seems like an insult to me. Being in the middle of a large city, you would think SFEG makes a lot of cash for SF.

-----------------

Larger people are going to have a very hard time getting into the vehicle.

-----------------
If the shoe fits, find another one.

Volare isn't a portable coaster. Might look like one, but Zamperla isn't even making a portable version of this.

And of the Six Flags branded parks, Elitch Gardens is at the bottom of the attendance scale, so no it does not make a lot of cash for Six Flags.
