El Toro, Announced

Well millrace, aren't we just flaunting our green wisdom?

We learned about tannic acid on the Upper & Lower Dells boat tours in June- the "murky" look of the water was blamed on that. We were told than tannic acid is harmless and is what gives soft drinks and other junky foods their color (see how well I retain things?). I know that the "Lakes of Great Adventure" aren't really murky and dirty but just appear that way.

I'm only speaking up because I often hear people complain it about (it's one of my numerous pet peeves). Maybe Great Adventure should install a sign along the lakefront explaining why the water is brown.

So you learned that junk food is made from murky water? Interesting.

Millrace, I am impressed with your knowledge, and appreciate the thorough explanation regarding the nature of the lakes of New Jersey. Last we conversed, I inadvertedly spilled the news about the new nuclear powered rocket coaster currently being researched and developed in a secure European location by a consortium which includes Intamin, Airbus Industries, and at least two countries' intelligence services. My understanding is that you have advanced "inside information" on this project, and I was hoping that you would share it with me and the others at this moment.
Considering the recent problems with Airbus A320 planes, it doesn't surprise me that Airbus and Intamin would partner with each other!

I think Great Adventure should get some air boats and put them in the lake and give rides. Then they could explain why the water is brown!

Numerous pet peeves? Numerous is an understatement ;)

ummmmmmmmmmmm but what's with the level of algae in that same lake near nitro....

talk about green! *** Edited 9/28/2005 8:24:56 PM UTC by dragonoffrost***

Watch the tram car please....
The green algae will make it easy to retheme Nitro as Nitro: The Elven Pinwheel Experience.

El Toro stole Voyage's record for steepness of first drop. That's just disrespectful!

It is difficult to steal something that does not exist!!!!

I'm pretty sure that's a reference to a comment made when Holiday World's new wood coaster was rumored to take some records away from PKI's Beast. Apparantly, some people felt it wrong for Holiday World to trump the Beast.

Are there any renderings of the twister portion of the coaster? I've watched the video but I get a bit lost once we jump over the first drop's pull-out.

So then why do people say Millie stole SFMM Goliath's records before it was built? Or that Steel Dragon stole Millie's records before it was built?
I wish I could claim that my car was stolen before I had a chance to buy it. Imagine the bills I wouldn't have!
Color me envious. I can only hope that one of these makes it's way to the west coast in the next year or two.

It doesn't have to be nearly that big either. I'll take a Balder knock off. It is seriously the most thrilling ride I have ever been on. *** Edited 9/28/2005 8:52:48 PM UTC by DWeaver***

It Looks pretty amazing, but taller and faster doesnt mean fun. I just hope it handles turns well, without all the side slamming and jackhammering that tall woodies just love to give. I am still amazed that six flags is dropping so much money next year after whats going on. However the gun has been loaded and will be ready for next year, wow all i can say six flags stepped up the coasters for next year, by really investing in some of thier bigger parks. I didnt use the gun analogy as these are gonna be top tiet rides here, but they have got them selves in a situation to make a big boom next year in the amusement park scene.

Hades is a tall wood coaster that doesn't slam or jackhammer... you owe it to yourself to go to the Dells and check it out!
I will do just that one day, but so far my experiences with tall and fast woodies have not been good. But six flags really has stacked the deck for next year, no other chain has done this much for next year. I think adding to some of the more recognizable parks in the chain is good for them, instead of buying up the old property. So i give them credit for making the best of things for us while they have thier own problems.

I guess that's one way of looking at it. But if you look at it another way, you'll see that only SFMM, SFOG and SFGAdv are set to receive big coasters. There might be a surprise or two if you consider some of Astroworld's more significant rides going elsewhere but the reality is that a good portion of Six Flags parks are getting very little in 2006. Once again, the "upper tier" parks are getting the money while the lower parks fight over the proverbial scraps.

I'm happy because Great Adventure is my home park- I have very little to complain about. If SFA, SFKK or SFOT were my home park, I don't think I'd be so thrilled with what's going on.

Then again, some people that have Great Adventure as their home park aren't that thrilled either so I really don't know what to say!

Hey i would be thrilled as hell to see a new coaster closer to home as well, but the last few have been nothing astonishing to me. I live in cleveland, and i would wish for a solid wood coaster that debuted clost to here, the closest was the villain when it debuted.

Somehow wishing it was the year 2000 again.

MagnunBarrel, keep in mind this is a different type of wooden coaster and from what I understand isn't prone to the same issues your typical woodie has.

And La Ronde.

See, I knew I would catch crap for saying that I thought it looked boring.

I, as in, speaking for myself, THOUGHT it LOOKED boring. I have no way of knowing how good/bad/boring/exciting it may be, since no one else does either. It was just my opinion. Very rarely do I put negatives on a press release, this just happened to be one, which just so happens to be a Six Flags coaster, which just happens to be at the park they've got the most buzz on from us.

Funny how that works. The people that DO throw negatives on every press release, or fanboys, or whatever, ruin it for the rest of us, who just have an honest opinion.

Sorry I spoke up, and sorry for being sour about it, I just like to speak up sometimes.
