El Toro, Announced

Well most of my issues with PTC are aftermarket BS that I am far from the only one that disslikes. Four inch seat divders and belts long enough that only a kid could fit (Shivering Timbers and others. One belts 50 inches the next is 26.

G trains? Cept for the padding whats the problem? Don't tell me you've never been bruised by PTC or other types (SFOG Cyclone, Legend ) But there about the closest to a classic ride woodie with a flat bench with no divider and buzzbar out there.

My view don't change everyday as you might think. I do think however that Intamins restraints are way to restrictive when there are other options out there like the Phantom Revenge restraints.

Guess I can be happy that I can ride Kingda Ka , Nitro and Medusa.

Chuck, who's happy about the new woodie, Just doesn't see myself every being able to ride it.

Hey! I liked SFA ;).

Problems besides the padding? I don't think they track as well, in my experience. I don't mind G-trains on most out and backs, but throw in any real laterals, and they shake and rattle. Actually, I've never been bruised on a PTC. I've only been bruised on one G-train, and that was Hurricane. But I'd take a PTC any day, even with seat dividers, which don't bother me in the slightest.

I realize that you have issues with Intamin. I know it has to be frustrating to not be able to ride, I've been there for other reasons as well. But still, complaining about something that isn't going to change isn't going to do anything. It is one thing to complain about treatment, but to come in (more than a few times) and complain because of something that isn't going to be changed because of complaints from one person? That borders on BWSFA territory. I mean, we all know he doesn't like not getting a new, record breaking coaster every year at SFA, but we dont' want to hear it every time he comes into a subject.

Rob, I have been to both of those parks, SFA 3-4 times, and well...outside of the rides, I don't see much of a difference as far as experience goes. All three have more downs than ups.

Its different in these few simple ways, The park is trying to become a family destination,I don't really see any other SF park trying to do that, The park is basically being completely redone since the 2003 season, from coasters being repainted to buildings and shops being redone. Also there is more security, more people who walk around looking to pick up trash, friendly staff that try's to be enthusiastic. Also look at the new theme section they just added Golden Kingdom that was themeing that no SF park has or even comes close to having.

OK...I've seen the animation but does anyone have a pic of the layout? I didn't see anything on the official site. Its hard for me to tell what happens in the second half of the ride but it looks like a lot of s-curves.

Any help would be appreciated.

Arrgghh one thing that hasn't been discussed/talked about/shown...what are the new/old rides being put into Bugs Bunny National Park this year? I hope they do get a couple of new rides...a new little kiddie coaster would be cool to add in there...a kids woodie? That would be sweet!

Oh and another thought I wanted to add...I think the ops at that ride should be made to wear matador outfits :) *** Edited 9/28/2005 4:54:02 PM UTC by BigJim4Life***

Looks pretty fun. I'm going this weekend, and now it looks like I'll be heading back next season to ride this! Can't wait. :)

Wow, this is a great new addition to SFGAdv. A lot of us having been saying for the past few years that they needed a new woodie. This thing looks great. An out and back combined with a twister. Awesome. Now, all they have to do is:

1) Get faster ride ops

2) Run their flat rides

and they will have come a long way ! :)

Re: JamminJ's link--

Two things of note that I didn't realize were cool before but are even cooler now:

1) Interaction with Rolling Thunder (call me crazy, I think any multicoaster interaction improves both rides)

2) It looks like they'll be using Viper's old station as El Toro's station -- excellent way to maintain the theme and not destroy the only good part about Viper.

I'm psyched. :)

Ok, my question and scuse me if it's been covered. Wheres the path to Medusa?

I talked with a SFGADV management person back in 2001 bascially because my guide knew them and discussed what the park needed and other stuff about the park, It was very informative as well as sharring views. Of course I mentioned woodie and I also mentioned the area it apears this ride is going to reside in.

Yes, Im happy for SFGADV. and Clint, I never really paid attention to anything batwingfan ever said. Sorry if I came off that way.

Chuck

Great Adventure is infinitely better than parks like SFNE and SFA. Take the atmosphere. Whereas SFNE feels like a straight midway stuffed with rides and SFA feels like it was placed in the middle of a barren field, Great Adventure has meandering paths, lakes and huge shade trees. Aside from a few rides like Superman and Medusa, the rides look and feel as though they are a planned part of the park and not just randomly placed. And different sections of the park have different themes that work- few parks pull off the "old west" concept quite like Great Adventure and the lakeside area at the back of the park is breathtaking, especially at night.

SFNE has a great Superman ride and SFA has a very competent collection of coasters and I would never try to take those things away from those parks, but when it comes to the details, there is no question that Great Adventure has what a lot of other parks don't.

Nah, mantillas, flamenco dresses, and castanets.

Looks absolutely incredible, I tell you what, I'd trade you guys straight across, SFMM's new flyer for this! I'll take ejector air over anything else anyday, and with the great finale combination of fast turns/bunny hops, this should definitely be a top 10 woodie.

The first drop should be very intersting in the back seat. Perilous Plunge's drop feels almost vertical, I can't imagine an even steeper first drop on a wooden coaster, you guys should consider yourselves VERY lucky.

I don't want to turn this into a debate about SFGadv, so I will respectfully disagree with you Rob. Although, do you really think that "lake" in the back of the park is breathtaking? Have you ever been outside of New Jersey? :)

I had no idea we had so many "Crazy Joans"(tm) on the boards. If the SF haters would only pour a fraction of their *iss and vinegar into, say politics, we might actually get something productive done in government.

Me, I can't wait to visit the park. Alas, it looks like 2007 before I get out that way.:(

They Live. We Sleep.

I wonder if it's gonna have the 90 degree banked turns liked Voyage and Hades? I couldn't tell by watching the video.

I'm pleased with El Toro. Looking forward to 2006!

One of the turns in the picture looks close to 90 but not quite.

So much new wood next year and it all looks quality. Please parks keep the trend going. Kind of like the trend with throwback jerseys in sport but only with coasters.

Watch the tram car please....
Hooray, another coaster! Not quite what I was expecting (guess I had my hopes unrealistically high after Kingda Ka), but still a nice addition.

The press release also mentions "a new, themed family ride" in the new Plaza del Carnaval area. Anyone seen any more information on this yet?
