I just wonder... would people who are down about this be saying the same things if this would be at a park other than a Six Flags park? Put it in southern Indiana or on a penninsula sticking out into Lake Erie and I bet that some of those same folks would be singing its praises and doing a happy jig.
(EDIT: RideIt beat me too it... must have been typing as I was typing)

76 degree first drop is incredible, Balder was 70 degrees and it felt vertical and this is even closer to vertical, thats only 12 degrees of Oblivion. I can't believe some of you are moaning, you get incredible coasters year after year yet you still moan.
You complain and say the Six Flags can't maintain there wooden coasters and they get rough so they get a wooden coaster that solves that problem and now you maon that its too smooth and they should have got a hyper, you make me laugh.
I can't imagine the coaster will have OTHR neither of the European ones have.

When I went to SFGAdv for the first time last spring I was expecting the worst. I was incredibly suprised at how much I enjoyed the park and rides! Did customer service suck at SFGAdv? Yep...sometimes. But it also sucked at Dorney...sometimes.
This is a new wooden coaster that has enormous potential. Before you gripe NOW let them build it, ride it, see what it has to offer and then judge.
They could have kept Viper! *** Edited 9/28/2005 1:50:23 PM UTC by FScottS***
Anyone think the preview center will be open this month with more info and videos of the ride? *** Edited 9/28/2005 1:55:18 PM UTC by Crashmando***

Don't knock it till you try it, guys. You have NO idea what it will be like, along with the other new woodies. This applies to me as well. Personally I think El Torro will rock my world but I won't know till I *do* it.
You guys are too jaded. ;-)

I do take issue with this from the press release:
"Plaza del Carnaval will also include one of the world's rare, classic dual-track wooden roller coasters, Rolling Thunder, introduced in 1979."
Does Rolling Thunder even run both sides of the track anymore?

Is it just me, or does this look boring?Gravity Group and GCI have made things so good now, that anything less is just.... yawn....
Boring? Are you kidding?
This thing actually looks a lot like a GG coaster to me, watch the video again. Look at the back portion's second hill, then the twister portion. Those curves don't remind you of a GG ride?

The train seems to loose alot of speed to friction. But with 9 cars, I can see why.
Its a video, not really a real representation of the final ride.
Also, as someone just said, there are six cars, not nine.
Enthusiasts seem to surprise me more and more every day. I remember when the days of a coaster announcement were noteworthy, almost magical. A new coaster? What could there be to complain about? Less than two decades ago, a ride like Patriot (WoF), Goliath (SFOG), The Voyage (HW) or El Toro (SFGAdv) would come along once every couple of years, with the years in between filled with cookie-cutter Arrow loopers and the occasional Vekoma Boomerang. Nowadays you can throw a dart at a map of the country and hit an area with a coaster that wasn't there when you visited last year.
I think it's absolutely sickening that there are two types of coaster "enthusiasts"- those that would rather talk about nothing but market research, wise investments and stock value, and those that b**ch, moan and complain about every single ride that gets announced. I think many of you need to find new hobbies because this one obviously isn't doing it for you anymore.
RT did run both sides at times this season folks. So look for the plan to run both sides more next year also. *begs GAdv to do a retracking*
But remember, there are some like ourselves that actually "appreciate" the new rides and give them a fair chance before *****ing about them. ;-)

I hate that these great rides are being built at SFGadv, home of the worst amusement park experience of my life. But I have to say that the rides are amazing.
I'll never judge a ride before I get the chance to ride it and I'll always get excited over something new, whether it be a record-breaking wood coaster or a relocated Vekoma Roller Skater!
I am very happy to see an Intamin woodie coming to the US. It looks like a great ride that could please both enthusiasts and the General Public.
All the people complaining, simply just don't go. Ever. In fact, maybe you should find a new hobby. If you're not excited about it anymore, maybe you shouldn't participate.

Opening weekend at the end of March, RT only had the right side running. When I went back during the last two weekends in May, both sides were running. When I went again at the end of August, only the right side was running. In September and October RT isn't running at all. The area is blocked off because of El Toro's construction.
Looks like they only run the left side when it's busy or have enough workers to man it. *** Edited 9/28/2005 2:46:45 PM UTC by Mtbiker99***
