Dragster Queue Line Music

Thanks ride of steel, that was cool to hear the station music. I probably will download the songs when I get more time and when I get home.

I find it funny and scary that I saw Republica perform before most of the kids on this site hit puberty.

Join the club Jeff.. I've seen ALOT of the groups in the Dragster Queue perform live, and most of the kids can't even say who they are.

God I'm getting old...

Peabody's Down Under, 1995 I think. Good times. That little thing was electric on stage.

Wow. By '95, I had pretty much stopped going to live shows. I did see Van Hagar though, and Bachman Turner Overdrive opened. Now *that's* old.

Going to see Garbage in two weeks. First thing I've seen since the last Lords of Acid show a couple of years ago. They sure did suck that time.

I saw Garbage open for the Smashing Pumpkins almost half of my life ago. =P

One of the best shows I have ever been to.

The only band from the list I have seen live is Hoobastank, and I'm almost ashamed to admit it. Their songs all sound alright on albums, but they are just horrible live. The lead singer 'can't sing well', and the guitarists were just off. The only good musician in the band is the drummer, and you can't form a band from a drummer (unless you are Dave Grohl).

Down is the new up.

I know that I'm in the minority on this board when it comes to music, but don't most top 100 bands these day stink live? I know there are some truly talented musicians, but most of it is just garbage IMO.

If a band can't play live, then they can't play at all. If they need all of the digital help to make everything sound perfect, then were they any good to start with? I can't tell you the last time I bought a studio album. Since just about every band I listen to allow people to record their shows and trade them I don't have any need for studio albums.

Like I said, I know I'm in the minority with my musical tastes on this board. But at least I know Peabody agrees with me in theory even though we don't see eye to eye regarding artists.

Mike - your friendly resident jamband freak

Back in the day I followed the Greatful Dead, (it was easy from northern california), and as I was reading your post I thought, "hey, I know a band that used to be able to play (if not always sing) pretty well live..."

Then I read your tag line. Not surprised. I'm wirh you, Mike.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah the 5150 tour Van Hagar and BTO ... actually my first rock concert since parents said "no concerts until senior year of high school" :( but man did that start an obsession.

I never think I will see another band suck live like Guns N Roses did when they opened for Aerosmith.

Probably the best shows I have seen though would be U2, Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.

I also saw Guns N Roses open up for Aerosmith. Aerosmith was great, but Guns N Roses did suck. I think they were booed off the stage. I believe that was during Aerosmith's "Permanent Vacation" tour.

Best show(s) for me were the last two tours for Eric Clapton when he brought Billie Preston along. Great blues combo.

Certain victory.

you know what i find funny? the fact that people on this site say "queue line".....just so those that use it know, a queue is a line;) no need to be sayin "lets get in the line line for the coaster"...ok? :)

still trying to think of a good signature...

Ok. . .

The best live band that I have seen, and probably my favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. John Frusciante and Flea are amazing musicians. I think I would like them better, though, if Anthony Keidis just wasn't there.

Other good live bands I have seen. . .Incubus, Muse, and the Darkness. I kind of went to the Darkness as a joke but left their concert as a geniune fan. Muse and Incubus kind of annoy me after a while, but they can both perform live VERY well. Brandon Boyde (Incubus) might be the best singer of any current band.

I feel like I'm making a lot of spelling errors with band member's names, but there is a 200% chance I am not going to look them up.

Well, the Dead are my favorite all time band. I'm just upset that one of the few kindred spirits on this board works for UM, around my house we fly a scarlet flag with a grey O on it. ;)

I couldn't even begin to pick my favorite or best show. With several hundred shows/festivals under my belt, it's hard to pick a favorite. But the first Bonnaroo was pretty sweet. I'm hitting my 4th concert of the month tonight, the Motet is playing microbrews for the environment at Boulder Theater. Nothing goes with good music like tasty suds, well almost nothing. ;)

I saw Hoobastank perform as one of the opening act for Linkin Park last year. They litterally stank up the place! Who really want to hear "Girls just want to have fun" from Cindy Lauper at a rock concert anyway? They were beyond horrible. Other acts were P.O.D., the singer had no emotion and was just mailing his part in. Yuck! Story of the Year was great actually and my bro bought their CD right at the show since they were so good!

Linkin Park impressed me, as they actually brought a real long black piano along for one of the song! They also tore the house down.

The only bands I'd like to see right now are Aerosmith and one band I'm not even sure they tour anymore... New Order. *** Edited 4/22/2005 5:30:01 PM UTC by Absimilliard***

Garbage is amazingly polished live, and they generally perform arrangements that make more sense live than those that are recorded (since Shirley obviously can't sing harmony with herself).

Other bands I've seen kick ass are Aerosmith, who after this many decades had better get it right, The Cure (ditto on decades), KMFDM, and sadly the last time I saw INXS, two weeks before Michael killed himself.

Don't forget Green Day. Whether you think their music sucks or not, they put on an amazing good show.
I loved Greenday in middle school. The Dookie album was great. No matter how 'punk' they are, they are all pretty talented musically. I saw Aerosmith and Kiss last year, and it kind of sucked. Both band's fans didn't like the other band. As much history, and as popular as KISS was, their songs just kind of all suck. The fire and the flying around were kind of funny, but I wasn't really that impressed. Aerosmith was good, but all the KISS fans either sat down or left and it was kind of a weird atmosphere. Also, I don't really like the ampetheaters like the one in Noblesville IN where I saw that concert. The good seats are always reserved for fan club members, and I don't relaly like the grass general admission seats that well.

Other good concerts I have been to, but just weren't in the style of music I'm into: Busta Rhymes, Andrew W.K., Talib Kwali (I actually like his music now, but didn't know any of the songs at the concert), and John Mayer/counting crows. All good shows, but I'm not a big fan of rap away from a party, and John Mayer's music is aimed a little bit too much toward girls for me. He is ridiculously talented/good though.

I am going to see O.A.R. on tuesday, and I have a feeling they will go in that catagory as well. I just don't get why everyone likes them so much. If you are into jam bands, why not listen to Keller Williams, String Cheese, or Bela Fleck? Ohh well, I'm sure I'll have fun

Incindentalist - I am thinking about going to Bonaroo this summer. Is it worth the money?

Another question. . .What is everyone's favorite Venue for seeing a concert? Mine is The Pageant in St. Louis. I saw the Foo Fighters there (one of my favorite concerts) and they rocked.

Down is the new up.
I miss Phish tour. But when they do come back I don't think Stan will let me leave for weeks at a time to follow a band.

Saw Cheese a couple weeks back at the Canyons. Saw Snoop last Saturday on my road trip to Denver and Vail. Good times! Can't wait for High Sierra Fest in two months. Fareed and Kai. Easily my two favorite musicians.
