Ok the rumors have died down and thers little talk about sfgav but dose anyone know 4 shure whats going on at that park ?????/

Yes, I agree, Great Adventure does rule all!!! They are getting diddly squat, but thas OK. They're still my fav!

Didn't they rank as the highest SF park attendence wise? Proves you don't need to have 15 coasters or be open year round to get a crowd.

Other than the new lap bars on the other side of B&R:TC don't expect anything new that is included in the price of admission. There might be another up-charge attraction, however.

I am still hoping for a drop tower in place of the parachutes, that has become more likely because they wont build an S&S vertigo after what happened at cedar point.

And you thought we had it bad at SFA this year.It seems that the only SF parks that will be getting any major rides this year are SFOG,SFNE and SF La Ronde.

Patman, oh really? How do you know what Six Flags is building? And, sfgadv-rules-all, you need a lot of help with your spelling if you can't even spell two simple words like 'does' and 'sure'. Lastly, BFSFA, you need to keep your mouth shut about SFA. Everyone is getting sick and tired with you throwing in your two cents about SFA into every Six Flags topic. No one cares. The park has added five adult coasters, numerous flat rides, a whole new kiddie section and many improvements since Premier/Six Flags Inc. took over. To say we have it bad because nothing might be added this year is very short-sighted and irritating. Try complaining to someone who lives near SFEG. I dare you.

I sure hope they get something. When they make the announcement, it will be a relief from midterms! :)

Amusement Today has already listed what all parks are adding for 2002. In the US only SFEG, SFNE, and SFOG are getting coasters. SFFT and SFStL are getting Sally dark rides. SFDL is getting a Shoot-the-chutes. And aparrently SFMW is modifying V2 but we do not now in which way yet. That's it, folks. The economy is slow and SF is cutting back on capital expenditures. Look for the next few years to be pretty lean. We've all been spoiled but we're just gonna have to get used to fewer new rides for a while.

Coaster131 - the lap bars are a given as is the new wood on RT. I haven't heard anything on the others but those all sound plausible. Thanks for the additional info.

All right Zero-G, maybe I was mean. Maybe I'm just getting a little irritated with some of the things I've seen on Coasterbuzz lately. Three of my pet peeves appeared in this thread:

a) People who can't spell elementary words. A spell-check option exists when you post if you can't spell well. Use it.
b) People who post garbarge rumors
c) People who complain that they're not getting anything, when they've been given so much in the past

hey intamin fan, chill out. you dont gotta put people down for spelling and placing there opinions on this page. people like you just gotta relax with this web page because you make it so impossible to enjoy sometimes.

Umm..doesn't Alcatraz (upcharge) also count? I thought I read that it was only open near the end of the year as a preview during Fright Fest (which I missed this year).

Besides, I must admit that the 25 rides that came in during the "War on lines" (that they lost :) ) probably should have been all the park would get for a three year period. Particularly since four of the best flats I've ever been on arrived then. (Evolution, Huss Jump/Freefall, Pendulum, and Twister/Top Spin)

Getting Nitro really surprised me, since I didn't think they had the budget for a new coaster after spending all that money on all of those rides. BTW, can anyone else confirm if there are any rides from that upgrade that have never opened? I've only missed the Octopus(?) ride, I think.

The big upgrade was in 1999 and the theme park didn't get anything new in 2000 (Hurricane Harbor was added in 2000). Nitro was added in 2001, so they took a year off which is primary. That is what Great Adventure's recent average rate of a new coaster has been. They'll take off this year and continue to use Nitro as their promotion bait and most likely build a new coaster for '03.
