While I can't agree with CF's lack of care when it came to classic Dorney attractions, I also can't deny the fact that CF's changes have resulted in a park that is more competitive with Six Flags and Hershey- both of which would have posed serious problems for the "old" Dorney of the late eighties and early nineties. While there are seemingly dozens of losses, there have been quite a few gains, too. Steel Force... Talon... Dominator... the new B&M.
While I loved JTTCOTE, I can't say that I would have preferred that over Steel Force.

Incorrect. While Dorney *was* supposed to be the first CF park to receive a Morgan hyper, the design of the ride was barely started when it became obvious the ride could not be installed at Dorney for the 1996 season. This wasn't solely because of neighbors, however, but because of ground instability (during ground testing, they discovered an underground spring which ceased further development pending more research into what ground was solid and what wasn't). When the decision was made to transfer the ride to Minnesota instead, it was barely more than a lift and second hill at that point (read: the turnaround design hadn't even started). Thus, the ride was slightly adjusted to fit the Valleyfair site and a new one was designed for Dorney in 1997. So no, the Wild Thing design we see today was never meant to operate at Dorney. This comes directly from Dana Morgan via an interview.

Still, if Wild Thing did retain Dorney's lift hill and first hill, then I think it is safe to say that, if the coaster were indeed built at Dorney as planned, it would be an entirely different beast than what Dorney has in Steel Force. From what I understand, WT's first hill is quite tame when compared to SF's. and that tamer first hill would probably have altered any elements that followed it.

This isn't that confusing, really... Dorney was supposed to get a hyper in 1996. Because of the ground stability issue and difficulty with the neighbors, the project was sent to VF and Dorney got their coaster in 1997.
