Rob A, are you trying to get on my good side (I'm not even sure which side that is, LOL)...but suggesting a Sally ride, that will definitely do the trick! :)
IIRC, isn't Dorney lacking a swing set? Not that it replaces Herc, but it would HELP tide you over until the floorless gets up and running...esp. in combination with a nice new Sally-Brand shoot-'em-up....:)

Seriously, I can't see why more parks don't add them. There are more than a handful of parks out there that got rid of their classic dark rides (ummmmm Dorney, are you listening?) or never had one to begin with. A Sally ride makes sense because they are very family-oriented, plus they are interactive, which puts quite an interesting spin on an idea that many parks probably feel has been beaten to death (hence the reason for no new dark rides.)
I honestly have a hard time trying to figure out why parks aren't adding these things like Wild Mice and S&S towers!

So are we pretty much in agreement that 2004 will just be general park improvements? That would help get the aprk ready for that floorless in 2005.------------------

Swoosh, I highly doubt that DP will only receive general park improvements. I don't think (if my memory of their history serves me correct) that any year since CF has owned DP that they have not added at least one new attraction every year. I know for sure that a new attraction was added every year since 1997. I highly doubt they will "quit" now.

I'm sure that JTTCOTE was removed because it was 1) old, and 2) low capacity. In other words, Cedar Fair wanted no part in upgrading the ride (too bad, have you seen what Sally did with Rye's Old Mill?) and probably figured that no one would miss it. Two mistakes in thinking, if you ask me.
Noone would miss it? Ouch, that one hurt Rob. Lol. Kennywood's old mill was as old if not older. yes? This begs the question that I will always have about CF. Why is destroying a ride always the quick fix. Imagine the major thrill park that dorney is today with all the major coasters with that old charm of Alfundo, Journey, the meteorite, rockets, water skooters, Thunderhawk/bumper car station. Would so much more be a classic park. As far as journey goes, I still associate dorney with that green monster that sat atop the roof. I know many people who can vouche for me and say the same thing.

Can you blame CF for removing the ride from an operations standpoint? Not really. The ride was old and probably was due for a major overhaul. It was a rather low-capacity ride, and when the time came to decide whether or not it was worth a sizable investment in order to keep it running, CF chose to remove the ride and put the investment dollars elsewhere. On the other hand, there is something to be said about the charm of an older attraction and what it does to the ambiance of a park... there are some things that are worth more than the money involved, and CF always seems to miss out on that point. The ride, nestled into the Thunderhawk's real estate, didn't take up too much space, and I find it hard to believe that it would have been so difficult to find a new home for the Scrambler that currently resides where Journey once stood.
By the way, has anyone noticed that the Thunderhawk's old station foundation still stands? I find it odd that Dorney chose to demolish the upper portion of the station but left the concrete walls that date back to the unfinished water attraction that pre-dates the Thunderhawk/Coaster. The beginning of the ride seems to strange, even so many years after the station was changed, because of the now-pointless straight sections of track that lead up to the lift hill (it used to be the separate loading/unloading areas and the pre-lift tunnel).

I also hate that they removed the Thunderhawk tunnel. IMO, that was the best part of the ride. They definitely needed to redo the station since the queues were so small that even the skinniest people had to walk through them sideways, but they could've still kept the tunnel.
