Dollywood.com now has a Thunderhead progress page

Nope.

Should be in a matter of days.

Thunderhead comes to Dollywood in 2004!

After going to DW today,

Thunderhead is coming along very well. Even from the train,I was overwhelmed by the size and height of what they already have up. I just cant describe it. There was this cheery looking fellow stradling the center of the track waving as the train went by.

DW is already marketing the new ride. A giant billboard is up on the parkway with all of DW's other billboards, heading towards Sevierville and signs are everywhere in the park including a big one next to the train tracks at the construction site.

PS I rode TT all alone in the train 7 times straight. It was awesome! :)

Dollywood has updated there website again. While most of the photos are the same from GCII's site, there are a few new ones showcasing Lift Hill Work.

You can view them by Clicking Here.

According to Dollywood's 2004 Operating Schedule, The park opens on Saturday, April 3rd. I Believe they said Thunderhead would be open by then, but knowing how much snow they get during December, January and February, I would not be surprised if construction was delayed a little bit.

(On a side note, it seems Dollywood will once again have a latest bedtime of 8pm. Da*n It! I guess we'll have to wait until November of '04 to get night rides, if it is evan open during Christmasfest.)

According to DW.com (or it may have been fixed) it says TT will be closing Nov. 1st. What Gives?!?

Does anyone know when ACE will be at the park to tout the new ride? Grand Opening Day or the Season Passholders Sneak Preview Weekend?

Thunderhead should be open by sneak preview weekend, and Dukeis#1, we don't have as much snow 'round these parts as we used to.

I Don't think the ACE event is until June 6th, or that's what there aiming for at this moment. It would be nice if they let Acers in a weekend early to ride though. Park is always very pleasent that weekend before the events of Dolly's visit crowd things up a few days later. (Maybe one day they'll get around to actually opening to the GP in March like SDC does!)

With TT Closed, I guess that means I'll have very little reason to visit the park during SMC, with the Train down during December and Tennessee Tornado closed after the 1st. (At Least Blazing Fury will be open :))

ATTENTION!:

According to Dollywood's Guest Services, Tennessee Tornado will NOT operate this Smoky Mountain Christmas. It will be making it's final run of the season October 31.

This is the stupidest move ive ever saw Dollywood make.Theyve either gone dumb or are getting cheap on us, I mean theyre alienating the Teenage market completely, plus they went through all the trouble of adding lights on the lift hill this season for night-riding.

What is their reasoning for this? Does anyone know?

Maybe Dolly made em do it!

This space will forever be dedicated to Hercules-R.I.P. 1989-2003

I Thought that they might be adding a pathway to connect the Tennessee Tornado area with Thunderhead Gap, but it seems like they could do that without closing the ride itself.

Maybe they don't feel the need to operate both coasters during the Holiday Season?

They also closed Mountain Slidewinder early this year. Tisk Tisk.
