Dollywood.com now has a Thunderhead progress page

A Few more updates, but nothing that we have not already seen.

It seems that the turns on each end of the coaster are the main construction focus currently.

Is that a turn on the Helix? Looks like a bit of air could be found at the top.

When I was in church the other day my teacher asked if we knew anyone that was so smart they were weird.
I stood up and Bowed.

About the name: I like it, it's just that it does not seem to roll off my tounge.Anyway,

The coaster looks awsome, sounds like its going to be good.

The banking on those turns looks delicious. And to think, I'm only 4 hours away.

Mmmmmmm...delicious indeed! Does anyone know if there are going to be any other rides in this new themed section?

Nashville needs a theme park!

There will have to be more rides in the section.Maybe that long-rumored B&M Inverted ;).

Thunderhead comes to Dollywood in 2004!
Perhaps a few years down the road, but not now.

Maybe the long-lost Balloon Race could make yet another appearance there in 2004, if they still evan have it.
I'd like for the park to get a few flats, but HFC is really not in to adding those.

Whatever they put in will have to do with the overall theme of the area.

Sorry but the Balloon Race dosent tie in wih the theme, nor was it any fun at all, they will have to put in a medium to high thrill flat because of the crowds we know the coaster will get (because of it's good location near the main entrance).

I suspect a new flat (hoping for 2) for the new area.

But what coud it (or they) be?

Maybe something from S&S (shot tower)?

I thought it was fun, but I don't see why they did not just leave it in Dreamland Forest, unless there was some sort of clearance issue or something. I also didn't get why they moved it out of Fun Country back in '93 either. The funny thing is if Dollywood would stop removing rides, the park would have 9 more than it currently does!

I'd love to see Dollywood get some rides like an Enterprise, a Falling Star, or evan a Frisbee. Hopefully they'll add some more in the future. As I understand, SDC was recently considering an Enclosed S&S ride, so maybe we'll have something similar in the future.

What exactly was the Balloon Race ride?

Standard Zamperla 8-Basket Balloon Race. Was very popular with parks in the 80s, but are harder to find now.

Ya...they are harder to find becuase they are pieces of crap. Ask a maintance worker at a park that has one about the ride and his response will be somewhere along the line of, "I don't even want to think about it".

While I was surfing around the net, I found something interesting,

whose ever heard anything about---EuroDollywood and/or Dollywood Japan?

Apparently was or is supposed to happen in the UK.I think Japan was dropped.

I think there just rumors and nothing more. Dolly has made jokes about building over-seas parks, which more than likely through word of mouth became a popular rumor that people believe.

Thanks Duke...That's what I thought the Balloon Race ride was. I saw a similar ride at SFWOA this summer except it's themed to pirate ships and has big sails instead of balloons.

They have a Balloon Race ride at Carowinds, one of the few flats there. Peter Potomus' Flying Balloons, it quite popular among the kids.

Gosh I can't wait to go to DollyWood next year. I have been trying to get my parent to take me for a long time but next year we have to go up to Tennesee for something and O what a perfect year to go! And the rents said that we could go! Thunderhead looks like it will be AMAZING! And I can't wait to finally get my first ride on The Tennesee Tornado! Gosh as soon as I find out the date I will post it that way one of you all (you know you people who are obsessed with the park) can give me the royal tour! Yeah I'm obsessed with SDC and I am just thrilled I will finally be able to meet its sister! YAY!

------------------
THE SCARIEST PART OF THE RIDE IS THE LIFT HILL!

Wildfire01, Tennessee Tornado is without a doubt the most pleasurable Arrow coaster I've ever ridden, with Nessie ranking very closely behind it. I think you will love it. It's short but oh soooo very sweet!

I agree with thrillerman1 in saying that TT is amazing. Hope you do get to visit Dollywood sometime in the future. SDC's quality is all over the park, and Dollywood is one of the most themed and landscaped parks in the country. It's also quite a bit larger than SDC, with it being 120 acres, yet it stil re-taines the magic that the company has established in Branson. The park also has a nice feeling of it's own, and is second in expierience only to the Disney and Universal parks. (Think BGW in the Mountains )
