Yes it is linejumping. You are cutting in front of people that could fill that seat. Even after the gates are closed, they can be opened again to let a single rider on. Theres no other way to look at that other than linejumping.
if a person wanted to ride they should know before the gate closes . I have never seen ride ops open the gate for one rider, they would tell them to get on the next train and not hold up a train full of riders. I dont feel guilty by getting a ride i did not wait for if no one sufferd bucause of it.

sfmm15: "if a person wanted to ride they should know before the gate closes ."
doesn't the fact that a person is waiting in line for a ride kind of make this a given?
I do that a lot. Why go all the way around? I just tell the ride ops "I'll let these people choose their seats but if there are extras can I ride?" And they usually say yes. On Kraken the manager op said I could stay on as long as there were open seats and to let the other people go where they chose. As a result I was hoppin alover the train for 12 consecutive rides without leaving the station.

83 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.
Most people wait in line for 1 ride, not several. As far as I'm concerned, if you want a re-ride, get back in line.

Yes, this is line jumping. That seat may be running empty, and you may be standing there, but the 400 people in line should be able to ride before you re-ride. It's only fair to be equal to EVERYONE, even if it means not re-riding an empty seat. We don't allow it on PT, even if the ride is walk-on. There are walkers coming through the queues that are technically being jumped.

PKI Fan: Getting out of line to get a drink (or anything else) is linejumping. The reason why is when you try to get back into line, you are going to have to push a lot of people aside to get back to your former position in line.
You cannot get out of line for ANY reason and expect to get back in.
I for one get pretty upset when someone is blatantly line jumping. Usually I will block their way and ask them where they are going. This is surprisingly effective in stopping line jumpers. Most will not have the guts to keep going if you get upset.

I usually get easy rerides when I go with a group of 3 people at Great America, we set it up so there is a single rider right behind us so one of us will get to ride twice. We are usually able to switch off but I don't think there is anything wrong with it. If someone asks us if they could have the seat I would let them sit there if I just rode.

Actually... if the Drink Machine is in the queue line, then I say you should pause briefly to get your drink while you are at the machine... not go back to it after you passed. You should have time, the lines move slow, you are not moving past the machine at a dead run (and if you are, that probably means that there is no one in that section of the queue which means it probably is not all that lined up, which also means that a brief pause to pay an amount around 3 times what the drink is actually worth is not going to hold you up that long anyway).

Alone for the front seat of Alpengeist is a quick way to get on.
If there's a line, do your single rider reorganizing before hand, it minimizes empty seats to begin with & gets you through a line fast.
Once the rides are over, if there's nobody there at my seat, or the next seat has nobody waiting, a quick hop up or stay put takes place, if allowed.
Myrtle Beach Pavilion has the worst policy. 9 out of 10 times, there's either nobody in line, nobody else there, or tons of other empty seats on The Hurricane. The devil will be throwing a snowball fight the day they allow rerides. The walk down & back through the line is brutal. I've even asked the girl that sits next to the turnstile if they could just turn it for us, that was to be unheard of. The Swamp Fox always makes you get off, but in all fairness, that's fair. The brakes at exit make it easy for new riders to hop right on the train, you staying put would be taking their seats when it pulls into loading.
I think it is line jumping to get back on after you just went....they reopen the gates all the time for single riders at AstroWorld. I don't see how you wouldn't consider it line jumping. If you were in the front of the line after waiting 1 and a half hours and you were a single rider, I'm sure you would think someone was line jumping if they took an empty seat on the train that could have been yours.
Oh, and do you think you should be able to leave the line to go to the bathroom and then come back?
