When they either see me on this website or the Refreshing Look website, they always say: "God, your on that site AGAIN? How can you visit the same sites so many times a day?"

They still don't know the concepts of message boards... or anything else that deals with computers for that matter. :)

My dad's an all out enthusiast, and often plans our trips. My sister will ride them, and my mom is scared of them. :)

My dad's an enthusiast and member of ACE. My sister will ride anything but doesn't know and doesn't care to know anything about them. My mom refuses to ride.

As for my friends, I don't even tell them I'm into coasters. How do I explain all the rollercoaster paraphenalia I have in my room? Well, "I write for Amusement Today and I get paid to ride roller- coasters.''

The girls really dig that, and my boys think it's cool too. It's not easy obtaining those ''free'' passes to SFGAd, tho! And I've started working two jobs recently as the girls think I'm loaded from "riding coasters."

My dad thinks it's wrong that I lie to my friends about a hobby I enjoy so much, but they have
this misconception that all enthuisasts are gay,
or weird, or overweight or something, so
avoiding the sterotype is the best route for me to take.

I even went as far as to have a Busines card and nametag made up for myself. I dress in business casual on my way out the door and change into uniform once at Dick's Sporting Goods. :)

God- what would I do if one of my friends or friend's family members came in there? Oh,
that's right...I work incognito! :)

My parents think its great that i know so much about coasters. I drag em around to theme parks EVERY time we go on a vacation! My brother gripes cuz im always talking about coasters. He gets sick of hearing about it.

Other people and my fmaily think its a little random and they always give me crap. Whatever, I love coasters.

Luckly, My Parents are OK, whenever I say, I am off to a theme park with a friend the weekend coming, They ask No Question and just say "Thats Fine, you go and have a good time"
I am even thinking of going to California with the ECC if I can get in the Trip, and they are totally fine with it(infact they are urgeing me to go and have a good holiday)

Another reason why they dont mind is, I have my own car, so they dont have to drive me anywhere or Drive me there, I can just go when I like, and they wont Mind at all. Hell even on Holidays, they dont mind taking me and my brother to a theme park while they go off shopping or back to the Hotel(They dont Ride Coasters anymore, however my dad will still ride the odd few though) I was even stunned once, when my mum told me what I wanted to do while on Holiday in Florida once(I joked I would like to go to IOA) and believe it or not, She happly agreed to take me and come back to pick me up later in the day(Let me say I spent 8hrs in one of the best parks in the world) It was one Truely Great Trip, An awesome Park and I absolutly love her for taking me(It was my First trip)

RobCoasting: You have taken this little obsession that we all share to a new level, denial. Now sit down with your friends and say WITH PRIDE "Hi, my name is Rob, and I am a roller coaster enthusiast!"

If they're your true friends, they will accept you!!

OMG, ever since I told them about Running of the Bulls they are always reminding me of it saying "yeah, go run with the bulls". It's pretty funny.

It's nice to see most of these people are younger. Myself, being a 17-year-old girl, have the worst time convincing my parents exactly WHY I need to drive 4 hours just to ride a roller coaster!

We are the ones who wait in line for hours for a 45-second thrill, and consider it time well spent.
I have the same problem with most of you. But I get very mad when my friends start talking about how cool this one coaster was or the stats and get it all wrong! All I know is that if I ever get married it better be to a woman who loves them as much as I do! Oh, and our ceremony will probably be on a coaster too!

Here's a direct quote.

"Why do you spend all that time in front of that stupid computer looking at stupid roller coasters?"

Non-enthusiasts don't truly understand. I don't know what it is about coasters, but I do spend several hours a day on a site called CoasterBuzz talking about them.

My parents are glad i'm obsessed with coasters than with heroin or crack and stuff like that. Coasters come second, only to J.Lo, LOL! YA RIGHT! My friends don't make fun, cause a lot of them are just like me, and love to ride!!!!!!!! It's great but rare! Anyways back to writing this stupid english essay........aaaaah!
All my friends have been bothering me alot about the subject. Especially since the obcession has grown so much so quickly (mid of Jan). I am currently working on one of my friends, convincing him to become an enthusiest. I even almost got one of the friends that has been bothering me alot about this. I was chatting with her on AIM, and I put up a link and she clicked on it. A few minutes later, she came back and said that it was very interesting. Plus, her aunt is like assistant general manager at CP, so the first thing she said about coasterbuzz is, "Hey, that's my park!" when she saw a thread about CP. Then she told me that she was gettin off before she became obsessed like. I told her that she should become obsessed and that it is cool to have a hobby that you are very interested in. Then we got into a big conversation of what her hobbie should be and I kept suggesting coaster and she kept saying, "No!" Oh well, I can keep trying.
Also, my parents think that I am crazy. You should have see her face when she saw my face when she told me we could got BGT this spring break. My mom will not ride the rides, and her boyfriend (yes, my parents are divorced) gets excited about them, but doesn't know anything about them. My dad and my step-mom are ok with it as long as I don't ask to go to SFOG 24/7. My brother makes fun of my obsession alot and says that coasterbuzz "is the gayest thing I have ever seen." I'm not sure how he came up with that one, but then again, he is my brother. He will ride the rides if someone invites him to go to SFOG, but he won't invite someone else to go. My step-sister likes most rides, but she is afraid to go on some. (Deja Vu is the only one at SFOG, we never go anywhere else.)

My Mom definitely thinks I'm crazy for doing this and thinks I'm gonna get hurt some day.  But my friends parents and brother are the worst of all.  They are always complaining that he's wasting his time and once you've ridden one, you've ridden them all.  They also complain about the fact that they think he's wasting money.  I guess they just don't see it the right way.  =)
