Do you remember CB in 2000?

Been here since '00, but have gone through a few names.

Wow I joined in January of 2000. I feel old...but great!
I didn't realize how long ago I signed up. February 2000 was a while ago. I miss 2000...

Hmmmm... I have been here since Fall of 2000 but at that point I was under a different nick name (which I do not recall). I used to check back here every once in awhile to see if anyone had posted. I remember how neatly organized everything was and all, but I don't recall very many posters (or posts, for that matter.) Then I remember thinking that I had gotten booted off for saying something but I didn't think I had sais anything bad, and that's why I stopped posting for a LOOOOOOONG time, because I didn't realize that I was still a member. Then recently I tried to create a new name so that I could post, and that's when I found out I already had one!

I'm another ones who been here since the early days. I found out about CB on RRC when Jeff first started to advertise about CB.

Everyone remember when the forums were set up by the park? If you wanted to post a question about Cedar Point, Kennywood or any other park you would just go to right forum. The main problem was that alot of the parks barely had any topics.

I also remember when CB got the facelift to what it looks like today along with the forum update. Istill remember everyone was stunned at the new look.

I guess I like somthing about this place sine I've been here since the beginning.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't been posted to in huge numbers like some other similar ones. I figured this would rival those periodic "I hate Jeff" ones that everyone (including me) just has to sound off in for some reason. Surely there are more "original" members than what we're seeing.

That's because there are too many bored kiddies out there who are more worried about me, what I do, and how wronged they've been than they are willing to talk about coasters. No one wants to read that crap. Get a free will and move on, or better yet, turn off the freakin' computer and go interact with real humans face to face.

It's about time for another change, but I have to wrap up another project first. I'm dying to get a new version up so I can integrate the new (and way faster) forums.

I wouldn't say I'm an original member, but I did start lurkin' around the site early in the summer of 2000... At that point I just used the site as a means to find out the latest news, and to link me on to other sites (I believe this still to be the site's main function at heart). I barely ever visited the forums, as I was pretty skeptical of forums in general from experiences on certain other forums and newsgroups. I can't even remember what my alias was back then. In December of 2000 however, I started checking out these forums more and more, and realized how much real content was in them, and unlike I had expected, how little junk was in them. Before long I decided there were things I needed to say, and this was a good place to do it. So I registered as FloridaCoasterRider, and havn't looked back since.

In the beggining I'd say I was a pretty typical new-comer, posting as often as I could, and starting topics on who-knows-what. But in the last year or so, even though I've been at the site more than ever, I've only posted when I've really felt that I had something constructive to contribute to the discussion, and believe it or not, I think I'm getting more out of the site than ever before.

I do think that Jeff packs this site with the same thing thats packet into Roller Coaster Tycoon... Whatever it is, it's addicting, and there has seldom been a day that I havn't visited the site since winter of 2000.

Not only has the site been an irreplaceable source of information, and served to fuel my enthusiasm to an unbelievable level, but it's also been an incredible place to make friends. Yes, many just through the internet, but more importanly, some real great friends, made of flesh and blood, that I've had the priveledge to go out and ride coasters with.

When the CoasterBuzz Club came about, I joined it as soon as I could... Though, not for the track record feature, or the great events (which, living where I do, I doubt I will be able to attend any time soon), but to finally pay something back to the site which has provided so much for me.

If you say changes are on the way, as much as I like the look of the site these days, I say bring em on. I was really impressed with the new look of GTTP, and I really do love the new forums over at GTTP as well. I'd say that those are the perfect forums. I can't think of a feature that's left out. I remember what a shock it was when CoasterBuzz got it's new look a while back, but I think that took a whole 2 hours to get used to ;) So I trust whatever changes will come will be refreshing, to say the least.

Here's to the future, and thanks again for everything Jeff.

I'd Rather Be Riding Roller Coasters

Yes, I must agree. Its so funny that I found this site right before I got my first real job after college. It serves as my stress reliever at work, or even at home sometimes.

I joined last fall because of all the morons, psycopaths and mental defectives, and I am happy to see that nothing has changed (hehehe).

Thanks, FCR, glad you're getting something out of it. I'm especially glad you find something useful in the forums. It's ironic that I'm most often criticized for over-moderation, but experience has shown that given a choice between that and under-moderation, most people prefer more than less.

I've been on CBuzz as RobCoasting since April of 2000. Yes, I remember CB back then. I remember when I could update my track record for free. I remember my closed threads. I remember going back and forth with CPGenius about Cedar Point. I remember meeting a bunch of Buzz posters at SFA that October for the first time and since then, having the pleasure of hanging out with many more of you. CB has been a great experience for me, and I'm glad that I've been able to share as much as I have with all of you.

Just rambling now,

WOW that pic of the old site brings back memories. Yeah thanks for starting this site Jeff. It rocks. I joined back in 2000 sometime. I've had many different names but they've all been rentzy something. I miss rumors :-). There is one person who's name I forgot that tried to start fights with everyone. If only I could remeber.

I guess I could be an "original" member if I have been here since sometime during the first week the site when public.

I've been a fan of Coasterbuzz from the start. It's "keep it simple" style of layout and content management, coupled with the non-nonsense forums makes for a very unique site when it comes to the online coaster community. Jeff takes a lot of flack for how he runs things and I give him all the credit in the world for putting up with it and not just saying f-it and moving on.

RobCoasting, ah yes, the infamous Running of the Bulls thread. :) Those were good times...so have you been back to CP?

This place and GTTP are a part of my life now, and have contributed to being a coaster and park enthusiast. I just wish I could get out and travel to more parks, but my current situation prevents that...maybe in a few years...

Well....I didn't start here until June of 2001, but CB is a major part of my life now. How pathetic is that? Heck, I just got back from a 2 week, 3500 mile trip, driving all the way, and the first thing I did was check CB before I checked my e-mail (with 104 new mails):) Yes, there is good stuff here. Oh, and Mamoosh isn't mouthy, he's just drawn that way...;)

Lynch actually posted a TR from Kennywood. It's like two paragraphs long, but at least he posted something!

I am ashamed to admit this, but I have been using CoasterBuzz almost religiously for 2 years, yet I have still not joined the Club. FloridaCoasterRider's remarks above made me realize that the $20 is not just for the perks of being a member but also to pay back for the enjoyment I receive from this site as well as to do my part to make sure it continues as long as possible. My check will be in the mail asap.

And you didn't use the mail. Good man. I hate having to actually go to the bank and deposit checks. With credit cards I don't have to touch anything. God bless you. :)
