800,000 years in 7 seconds: Time Machine the movie or next S&S creation?
"So Quoth the Lemon Chill Guy" (TM) (C)
But now that you mention it, some of the same old bastards are still here (and I mean that lovingly). That's what makes a community feel like your favorite underwear, it's comfortable. That's the part that hasn't changed, and that makes me happy because it's that core group of people that keep the site strong.
I'm sure we'll be around for many years to come. The only "old" site still around is Ultimate Rollercoaster. We're probably among the five oldest now, and URC even had two or three years on us! And for all the crap I get (and Eric gets to a lesser degree), we're still going...
Anyone get the idea that World of Coasters is trying to stage another comeback (again)? What a waste of a domain name. I hate that people credit that site with being so great because it was among the first. Aside from a list of rides (which RCDB does so much better anyway), I found it to be mostly worthless.
The best thing to happen to the land of coaster sites though is the long-running park or region specific sites. Lone Star Thrills, Westcoaster, ACN and even our affiliates One Click and Kennywood Boulevard have created these great communities and loads of content. That's where the real gold is... we just help you get there.

I joined Augest of 2001. Its been the same since then. What was it like in 2000?

When did CoasterBuzz actually come on-line? I had to check my profile to see when I joined (Oct 2000) -- I've been around longer than I thought but how long was CBuzz going before I showed up? I kinda dropped off the face of the CBuzz world for a year or so until a couple months back, but I must say that although it's far from perfect CBuzz is as good as any coaster site going today. Most of the people are different now, but I remember guys like Jeff (duh), 2Hostyl, Chitown (the only mod I can't remember pissing off at some point :)), SLFAKE, and others. Speaking of mods, whatever happened to Neil? We didn't agree on too much stuff but I respected him a lot after talking over email a bit. He used to post much more often, at least from what I've seen since I've been back...

PLEASE READ: This post wasn't meant to offend or anger anyone; I apologize in advance if it does. So please don't post a reply just to rant about it. :)
I remember the old Coasterbuzz in 2000. I never was a member back then because I was too young, but I would always browse the forums every so often, along with Thrillride's. I think Guide To The Point and Coasterbuzz are the only two coaster sites that I actually post at right now. Thanks for the great sites, Jeff.
I think once I can drive I will become part of the Coasterbuzz Club. :)

Wow, I've been here since right after Stark Raven Mad in 2000 (and I picked my name after the incredible rides I had taken during that event on the Legend). That is over two years! It definitely doesn't feel that long at all...
I don't even remember why I joined; probably to prove Jeff wrong about something. ;) Ahhh, I was such an ass back then, lol.
CBuzz has changed a lot over the years in the aspect that there are so many more people posting now than before, so it's harder to keep up with all the topics. Also, there are a lot more topics that just really don't interest me. The sense of community of this board rivals RRC (minus the trolls, of course). While I'd never get a CBuzz Tshirt, for the people who do, it's a great way to recognize your fellow posters and strike up a conversation...I can't think of any other board that has its own Tshirts!
I doubt I'll stop reading this site any time soon, too much hilarious material here! :)

It tastes like burning.
I joined Coaster Buzz in August '01. I first joined GTTP in July, and I remember clicking on the CB news, and wondering why my GTTP name/pw wouldn't work on CB.
I didn't know anybody on this site (Took me awhile to realize that Jeff was the webmaster!) but today I'm familiar with the CB/GTTP "celebrities", and the regulars of the site. :)

I haven't posted in a while but i've been here since the spring of 2000. Back then I think the topics were a little better. You gotta admit that the coaster wars were fun Jeff. I remember topics like. Is Magnum sinking? What is the best rollercoaster? What is your favorite park? Those were funny times. Oh yeah... and the GAY topic. That deffenantly started some riots.

Since Jeff made Track Record a "perk" for CB members i'll just post my count here: Coasters:99 Parks:14
The site opened up in its current form January 31, 2000.
Neil is still around, but he's finishing his PhD and building a hospital or something. OK, not really building a hospital, but the last e-mail I got from him a few weeks ago indicated he was doing more than any normal person should do at one time, thus is relative absence.

I joined in the last couple months, and I seemed to have missed out on some good topics. Let's get that stuff going again sometime. I'm young, I'm objective, and I think best when pissed. Hoo-hah!

Another mod that doesn't post anymore is Lynch. Where did he run off to?
I was here since early 2000 as well. I used to go under the moniker of RagingBullGuy, but my Outlook Express account was screwed up in late 2001 and my profile went with it. I re-created my sn, but Outlook Express got screwed off again because of the Klez H virus. Now I'm just BullGuy. It (CB) has noticeably changed since 2000, but the most noticable change has been in the posters. More and more young'uns are joining and creating noise, but thankfully, good moderating has silenced that in the last few weeks. This is always the first website I visit when I go online, and I can't ever see myself leaving this place. Asides from the actual parks, this is where I come to get my coaster fix.
