KI, Kennywood has some good flat rides, but unless you've been to Great Adventure, you haven't seen what a good collection of flat rides really looks like.
And, much like a collector in any other hobby, they're just there for show, Great Adventure would never actually USE them ;)
For those who would never ride a Chaos again, consider that before the accident most of us would've never though twice about getting on one. What other ride could be the next accident victim? In other words, I'll take my Chance(s) (pun intended).
Chaos is/was one of my favorite flatrides. If, after an investigation into the cause of the accident, the design proves to be sound (that is, this was a freak accident, not an accident-waiting-to-happen that finally did, like the solid fuel boosters on the Space Shuttle) I'll gladly hop back in line.

I will say that I too skip over the flat rides, unless I'm at a small park like Indiana Beach or Holiday World, then I'll hit the flat rides. Soon after go ride the coasters tons more.

8 feet higher and a 6.5 feet longer drop, could never contest with a 80 degree, non-braking giga-coaster... Sorry, Steel Dragon 2000
if I'm with my kids I well but for the most part only coasters!
I couldn't imagine going to a park and not riding flat rides, even if they're pretty tame.

Good luck in philly j.r.
I love flat rides, and try to get on as many as I possibly can. I'm a certified swinging ship junkie :), and they run a close second behind the coasters.
I ride flat rides just as much as I ride coasters. I think Six Flags parks have a lot of good ones. But of course I ride all the coasters first then I hit the flat rides.

My wife and I only do the coasters.

Are you people crazy? I love Flat Rides! Can anyone say Chaos? That rides is the best I've ever rode. Inverter is great too. I like Inverted Ships, Falling Star, and other things. I still wanna get on a Drop/Power Tower type ride. Well, Coasters are still what I go to first tho.

Favorite Coaster: Alpengeist!
I generally ignore flat rides on a amusement/theme park. I pay attention to the coasters only.
I tend to focus on the coasters at a park, but I will go on some flat rides if they dont' spin me in small circles. At my age (42)my body doesnt' tolerate spining too well. Also being a rail fan as well as a coaster enthusiast,I always ride the train if the park has one, especially if it is pulled by a real steam locomotive.

Basically I like most flats, but nothing the has only laterals - I get nauseous as could be aftera minute on Teacup rides, or those horrible rotors. Love Chaos, Enterprise, turbo-shots/drops, Swings, and the "oddballs" like Sultan's Flying Carpet at Kennywood, or El Dorado at SFWoA. Most everything else is OK. Almost forgot, the train can be excellent depending on the park, swinging ships are great IF they invert, and of course the Carousel is the SOUL of the theme park (rollercoasters make the blood flow, so I consider them the heart). And I can't beleive I left this off - DERBY RACERS. I've only been to Derby Downs at CP, and man that flat rocks!

I love going on flats (SFGAdv is my home park, so I rode lots over the years). Coasters are the priority, but interesting flats always get my attention.

I haven't been to Rye Playland in years, but that's the only other derby racer in the US. Not many of those at all, and the Cedar Downs is really cool. The Rye one is said to be faster too.

A joke, son, a joke. I actually rather LIKE Great Adventure. Unfortunately they DO seem to have a fairly large number of flats down at any given time, though...

Whatever yuo do this summer, Ride a KMG Fireball!!!! Whoo Howdy!
I'll go on flat rides if Rollercoaster lines are way to long, or maybe go on Water Rides on a hot day.
No one has mentioned Knott's collection of flat rides yet.
I really like flat rides and make a point of riding them while at a park.
Scramblers are cool.
Wave Swingers and Wipeouts are nice.
Swinging Ships are cool.
Not sure what to call Hammerhead at KBF (zamperla), but it is my favorite flat ride. :)
I do draw the line somewhere, as I have never been on a Topspin, Evolution or Zipper.

Flat rides are awesome. They're a break from the more intense roller coasters and you can relax on them. Also, there aren't very long waits for flat rides these days. Plus, they're amusing. What's more fun than laughing at the guy who gets stuck with sitting on the Scrambler's outside seat (AKA the squeeze seat)?

Son of Beast is rough...so what? That's the way I like it!
KBF's Hammerhead is generically called a "roto-shake". The only other two I know of is Mighty Axe @ Knott's Camp Snoopy in MOA and Iron Eagle @ SFA.
You like that ride but wont get on a Top Spin? I thought the roto-shake was WAY worse. Though in actuallity, they are very similar in feeling.
