Dippin' Dots: Miracle or Rip-Off?

...yes, but when you buy breyers ice cream for 6$ you get 6X the servings :)

While they are good, a large cup isn't as large as it seems.  It's probably half air.  If you let it melt, it would probably only fill half the cup.

And as for being expensive?  We're talking about theme parks.  What do you expect?

Ah, but all ice cream has air whipped into it anyway -- if you let any ice cream melt, you'll end up with about half the cup :)

I can't believe I just defended Dippin' Dots!  ;)

DIPPIN DOTS? ROX0R!!!!!!!!11111111111111 I love the weird way that they stick to your tounge. I should get a Dippin Dots T-shirt at https://secure.dippindots.com/storefront/

Are they too expensive? Yes, very. Just like EVERYTHING else in a park. I wish I could buy dippin dots to eat at home. I would have to get a cold freezer though.

A bad day at Cedar Point is better than a good day at work.

I love Dippen Dots. They taste just like regular ice cream, only in little balls! Yeah! (Drools thinking about Mint Chocolate DD I had the other day at Water World).

I dont really like them that much, but it is a unique and differrent treat to enjoy in the parks.  And kids love them, so its not a bad thing.

The idea of going to the park is to get/do things you dont normally get to experience.

there good but way to exspensive.i think bannasplit or cookies and cream are the best.
Rip-off IMO...I'd really rather have a waffle-cone!

Dippin' Dots are BOTH, i.e., a miraculous rip-off.  Waffle cones with hard ice cream were put here by God, while ChiTown's 6-year-old can identify the nasty food product.  I like innovation, but there's too many food choices to eat something that that's the price of a half-gallon of good ice cream, with all the flavor of cardboard.  Must be the ice cream of the future, I'm a traditionalist...but if CrazyB is correct, I'll be spending more time at their little huts!

I think everyone will agree with me when I say,

"Why can't we buy Dippin' Dots at the store?"

"Grilled Steak Taco from Taco Bell!!"

Out of all the times I've ever gone to parks, I've never had Dippin' Dots. For the longest time, I think they were little icing balls...go figure. :)
I just thought of something... how about Dippin dots in a Waffle Cone and/or regular cone!?

first of all, i wouldn't call any food product 'a miracle'.  (That is, unless you're talking about sliced bread).  However, i think dippin dots are good as ice cream goes.  However,  don't like the price of them, and only get them when it is really hot out and I need something cold.  So in a way, they are a little of both.

And it so cheap to make them too..

Freezing the things is a cost higher than normal ice cream. Then they have to figure out a way to ship them COLDER than a normal truck can do (dry ice, but thats a lot of dry ice, and a big hazard to ship).

They sell, and if you don't like them don't eat them..

I prefer "real" ice cream, be it soft serve, or something like Kennywood's Dip Cone.
Ah, Kennywood's Dip Cone.  I've never been to the park without getting one.  In fact, I've been known to send Kathey and Lexi over to ride Aero360 just so that I can "sneak" a second while they're on the ride.

Doesn't Sisko sing about Dippin' Dots?
My feeling on Dippin' Dots was best expressed by Chi-Town's daughter :)

I would much rather have a nice cup (not paper cup, but the cone/cups) of Baldwin's New York Vanilla ice cream than anything, but that seems to be limited to the Illinois region.

One more thing, Dippin' Dots workers dont know Jack! The Lemon Chill Guy (TM) has all the info ;)
