Dippin' Dots: Miracle or Rip-Off?

I was at my park today with my younger sibling and it was a blazing 95 degress out, so we were both pretty thristy. Anyway, we came upon the Dippin' Dots kiosk; you know, the deals where you have a cup of little ice cream flavored balls and you eat them with a spoon. My only apprehention was that it was $3.50 for a small cup, and $4.50 for a large cup!!! I bought the small one for my brother, but it still seemed like a major rip-off. Anyway point given. Anyone agree? Disagree?

I love dippin dots too but they are too expensive. It's all just an marketing gimick. People make ice cream into little tiny balls, customers think it looks cool and buy the dippin dots. Dippin dots are just ice cream but they are still good ice cream. I don't think Chi-town likes dippin dots though according to his last signature concerning him, his daughter and dippin dots. It was a funny signature.  :)

I think they are ok. It's a 'yummy gimmick'! That should be their slogan, heh. ;)

I eat them when I have a headache. I used to eat them everytime I went to the mall.

Dippin Dots Rule! I like Banana Split :)

For me, Dippin' Dots goes with the whole experience of a park. They are expensive; the cheapest I have seen is $2.00, and the most expensive $3.50, but a must at every park!

I dont see the point when you can just get an ice cream cone for about $1 cheaper.

I think they've been around for about 10-15 years.  Isn't their slogan Ice Cream of the Future?  They should make it: Dippin Dots:Ice Cream of the Future, Since 1990.  Hahaha.  That would be great.  Anyways.  It really tastes good.  Especially when it is partially melted, but it's waaaaaay too expensive.

I always have Dippin Dots everytime I go to a park but they are really expensive and I noticed on all of them the little cups bottom is curved up instead of flat to make it look like you get more.

I prefer soft Ice cream to those, and 9 times out of 10 the ice cream is cheaper. Why  is that?

What I don't get is that Dippin Dots have been around for like 10 years already... and they still have that claim:

Dippin' Dots: Ice Cream Of The Future

It's been around for a decade already... how much into the future is this stuff??

Some Dots I've had its been like they were stored in dry ice. VERY cold and very dry. I'd rather have them melt and eat them that way. Better yet get the "Ice Cream of the Past" the regular stuff. Dots are decent I guess

It seems Kennywood's Phantom has some issues with that "Ice Cream Of The Future" claim. Apparently, some of the old Phantom's antics in the 2000 season included spraypainting "It's not the ice cream of the future anymore!" on the stands around the park. ;)

They are cold because they are made in either liquid nitrogen or solid CO2 (dry ice.) I forgot which, but thats why they are so cold. I hate them when you first get them, it annoys me how they stick to your tounge, but after a while when they get to the normal ice cream temperature, they are good. I just want to know what Banana Split really is, it doesn't taste like banana, strawberry, chocolate, pineapple, vanilla, or whip cream, so what is it!?
