Did anyone hear the new news on The Voyage?

Chad and Larry met with Will a few weeks ago and asked him to choose between two elements to add to the design ...

Please try not to obsess over the word "new." This is not a never-before-heard-of element.

As to "stealing" any thunder from another ride, that's a bunch of bull. (That felt good ... first pun of the day.)

Paula;

Love the pun.

Hmmmm, a helix would be nice...
With 90 degree banking? ;-)

I think there should be a nice little platform where employees pass out gatorade to the riders as the whiz past...kinda like they do for marathons. ;)

Well, if it is not a new new element, I withdraw my "hump" guess. My new guess is a reverse banked turn like on Hades. And for those of you calling for an inversion, shame on you. HW would never ruin a great ride with a ride-ruining gimmick like that.

A new element?

Is it the world's first launching rocket woody? YES! I knew it!

<---who will stop dreaming out loud now.

my guess would be somthing along the lines of an over-banked turn or maybe a helix.

Hey now, the inversion is the best part of SOB. ;)

Maybe they added "trick track".
Woohooboy, didn't realize El Toro uses milled track, I guess. Think an engineer would know that!

As for Voyage, I can't wait to see what it is!

My bet is it's the world's largest trim brake ;) *** Edited 11/10/2005 5:52:52 PM UTC by Peabody***

I already guessed trick track, But a reverse banked turn like the one on hades would be excellent also.

Chuck, who noticed Villains trick track working nicely this year and not the previous five.

So if it's nothing "new" new, then I guess we won't be seeing a Ho-Wo roll.
Could be a indian bend.
What the heck is that?
But why 'pick one' unless it's additional track, i.e. a helix? They could do a reverse banked turn AND trick track with very little added cost (save perhaps engineering?). No, my money's on some sort of helix or other additional track length (But, you know, not to make it longer than the Beast... out of respect.)

You can change the height of bents and angle of ledgers just about anywhere on the course but you have to go back and test it on CAD many times to make sure the forces are ok and that you haven't lost kinetic energy.

Thats because the rest of SOB sucks!

Jebus, am I the ONLY person who understands the flaw of SOB's loop? Imagine riding a woodie in an Arrow train with horse collars. Now SOB's trains are not THAT bad, but they are close enough. Woodies are rough bouncy rides and you don't need your keaster superglued to a rock hard seat. The problem with SOB loop is that it puts a steel coaster train on a wood track.
But the loop's a small blemish compared to the flaw called the REST of it.

Meanwhile, in a cornfield out in Indiana...
