Did anyone hear the new news on The Voyage?

For Crying out loud, the Voyage has another (3rd) 90* banked turn, plus the queue goes by tunnel #4 which has plexiglass to see into the tunnel, as well as grating on top of the tunnel which you walk over.

That was so hard.

BTW, Welcome DJ. :)

It's the real world equivalent of seeking a group of friends who are kind enough to let you in on their fun, then after a day asking them to dress differently

I don't think that's the case here. He asked a legitimate question, didn't get an answer, came back with a sarcastic response, to which 'Playa followed with his standard tone ... and we're off! Considering dj's "unhelpful ... geeky" response, seems like he'll fit in here just fine. :)

But Gonch, I have to agree that there wasn't any fanfare, since it had already been discussed on the Podcast. As such, the information is publicly available, and doesn't really need any more "fanfare," does it?

Call me crazy, but I didn't see anything wrong with what dj asked for. He mentioned that he couldn't listen to the Podcast right now and asked for someone to fill him in -- presumably because he wanted the information and also so that he could join the discussion. I don't see it in terms of your "social parasitism" model (for lack of better term ;)), but rather as the case of one coaster fan walking into a conversation with a group of other coaster fans in the middle of the conversation and looking to play catch up.

Instead, we have a new member who feels that is going to be the habit when he asks a question on the forum. I can't help but wonder if that's really the right kind of aura for a community to have.

[Nitro Dave -- Track Record: 231 coasters] A Rapturous Verbatim & A Tournament of Lies -- my blogs...they're blogtastic.

The public is always welcomed, but like most 'real world' public social groups there are certain social 'rules' that the group abides whether consciously or not.

In this case, for whatever reason, most thought it would make more sense to wait for Paula to come in with the fanfare.

First of all, "social rules" cut both ways. There is a general understanding amongst socially adept human beings that facilitates productive conversation, in real life and elsewhere. This concept seems to have escaped you, and others.

Secondly, I never (re-read this whole sentence again, cause I have already reiterated it a couple times, but you can't seem to grasp this part) said that it was a bad idea to wait for Paula. In fact, when I had the info PM'd to me, I did not disclose the info, out of respect for the community's wishes - even though I did not agree with those wishes.

Now, go back to the beginning of that paragraph and re-read it before making yet another assinine post about how I'm a big jerk who was whining and crying about waiting for Paula - cause I most certainly was NOT.

And I attacked him when, Walt? I was what, the fourth person just kidding around?

When he chose to paint everyone with the 'bored teen' brush...he pretty much taped on his own 'kick me' sign.

If not me, who? If not now, when? KEEP...HOPE..ALAAAVE!

(Or something like that)

I said you attacked him?

It was one sarcastic post followed by another. Isn't that what CoasterBuzz is all about?

Again, you immediately get on the defensive.

I simply pointed out why you probably weren't getting the answer you wanted and followed with a light social commentary.

Could you please tell me what part of that is an "assinine post about how I'm a big jerk who was whining and crying", because I'm not seeing it.

Oh, gee - thanks so much for your (unhelpful) help.

Can someone else mention the "new" element and give details on the station? Or is this some geeky insider thing?

And later:
Are you kids just bored at school and need something to help pass the day?

Sounds like whining to me! *** Edited 11/21/2005 9:20:58 PM UTC by a_hoffman50***

Once again, c-buzz 1337's ruin a good thread.

::rolls eyes::

LoL, one person's 'kidding around' is another person's 'attacking' when neither is welcome.

When he chose to paint everyone with the 'bored teen' brush...he pretty much taped on his own 'kick me' sign.

Hmmm...no body takes what anybody else says seriously at all, and they definitly don't care when they're painted as a bored teen. Now who's calling who black?

I was not whining. I received a very unhelpful and vague response to a legitimate question. I did NOT call anyone a geek. I used the word "geeky" to describe the withholding of information, NOT any person. My comment was a sarcastic response to a very pointless post "answering" my question.

Gonchar - I apologize. In my haste, I thought 'Playa had written the "social" post, and he had already made several, um... not-so-nice posts toward me. I should have read it more carefully. While I did not agree with your post, my anger was directed at him, not you.

Now, to be fair, I didn't think it was a pointless post. I may not have agreed with the answer, but it was actually non-sarcastic. And for that, I will give a_hoffman50 credit.

That's a fair assessment.

Still for whatever reason the people involved felt it was necessary to wait.

I guess it shows the level of respect Paula and the HW team have earned with enthusiasts.

I wasn't necessarily defending their actions, just adding commentary as to why the situation existed.

Are we done with "Coasterbuzz Therapy Hour" yet? :)

Quick word of advice, never let oblivous people smell your anger, they'll pounce, then just keep on pouncing. Heck, they may even edit their post 4 years later to make it look like they were 'calling you out' ;).

P.S., I agree with Gemini, I don't think a_hoffman was being rude, in fact, that post equated to 'I was excited to hear it first hand on the podcast, so I want you to be just as excited'. I think that got lost in translation for dj. *** Edited 11/21/2005 9:29:27 PM UTC by TeknoScorpion***

TS: Taking this seriously? Who? Me? In whose imagination and/or alternate universe?

Perhaps... "vague & unhelpful" would be a better description for it, Walt. ;)

Thank you, Gemini and Tekno.

This has been blown way out of proportion.

Another dimension to me not saying anything about the new element is because I think that it kind of spoils the fun of listening to the podcast, if you already know what is gonna be said. I stayed up last night just to listen to the podcast and would not have appreciated it if Jeff put what the new element was on the description of the podcast. *** Edited 11/21/2005 9:31:18 PM UTC by a_hoffman50***

Frankly, I thank the folks who didn't mention it. I don't think I logged on here much this weekend (at all?) and preferred to hear it straight from Will Koch himself.
