The offspring of said Dinn, actually.

Rollergator and Matt: Trust me, the "big name" and reputation isn't nearly as good as you think it is.

Just thought I'd share... I've learned that Arrow is NOT in any negotiations with S&S, so I don't know where they get the impression they're going to buy them.

I was under the impression that Arrow had to divest its holdings. Maybe I was wrong.

I thought both Six Flags and S and S were among some of the bidders for Arrow. Am I totally in right field here? or is there some truth behind this.

Issues with Dodonpa: Not open when five of us buzzers were there. That's a good enough reason for me. So I guess my question is, what's the most reliable company out there?

TOGO!

Wow, that shows how out of touch on the amusement biz I am - I didn't even know there was a problem with CCI. I thought that was one of the last bastions of coaster fortitude in the business.

Maybe I should visit Coasterbuzz more often.....(boohs from the audience....)

PinkFloydFanatic...are you insane!?!? You must not have ridden Wildcat at HersheyPark, that had to be the crasiest ride I've ever step foot on. It definetly ranks higher than every CCI or any woodie I've ridden.

Nice TR!
"They should have named it Hershey Squirts" - JW

Joey i was just as Hershey and rode Wildcat a quite a few times. I rode Corny earlier in the week. For forcefulness and Intensity Wildcat didn't even come close to touching Corny.

-----------------
All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

MagnumForce - But what ride provides more bang for the buck than Cornball? Off topic, I know, but I can't let an oportunity to hype CE pass me by.

gator - I'd be curious to check with the folks at Cliff's and IB to see what they think of the name and reputation, particularly if you take into account the scenario that Chris G. has described. Oh yeah, how are those SRM trip reports coming along? :)

chris, ouch.....I have been away a LOT in the past couple months....but believe it or not, I still have the majority of "the trip" on disk and hope to have it finished by this weekend...:)

Now, as for the CoasterCon TR and the TR from the Washington trip, well, they'll take awhile longer, but progress can begin now that the laptop is (finally) repaired....it was HORRIBLE having no "real" home computer....feeling much, much better now, though...:)

ophthodoc, nice having you back, you really should visit more often....;)

bill, thinking that GCI provided, and still provides a "great ride at a fair price", and that CCI provided a great (sometimes AMAZING) ride at an unreal price....further, Stan Checketts is taking a gamble, sure, but I am one who thinks it will pay off handsomely.....

well at least we will still be getting her wonderfull designs. i think its a good thing that she is back in the business, and maybe s&s making woodies will open the door to other kinds of coasters for them

Do you guys read anything at all before you post? They're not "her" designs. She's not the engineer here!

Well, Chris, the Beach no longer has a one year warranty on LoCoSuMo that would normally come with a CCI product. Does that give you an idea?

Well, having read the latest posts, I guess I for one am clearer on the matter.

Mr Godsey's comments particularly I think are most enlightening on the matter. That scenario seems to fit perfectly. Stupid, but it makes sense.

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

That's pretty much what I figured, Dave.

Jeff is right. Just because she owns the company doesn't mean she designs the coasters. This is kind of scaring me because I want to design coaster for a living and two large coaster companies have recently gone bankrupt, CCI and Arrow. *** This post was edited by Bakeman on 8/9/2002. ***

Yeah, but at least Arrow will still be around.

wait, so you are telling me that the air launched wooden 4D is not coming to SFA next year?! jk...

While I do not necessarily think it is a good business move, having another wooden coaster manufacturer is not a bad thing, though I am still waiting for a new Vekoma or Intamin to come state side.

Wow...this is one of the most eye-opening threads I've read here. VETy interesting say I. Especially having worked for bosses that I never liked too much...Ok..I take that back...there have been a couple. Let me just point out that the Dilbert principle has held true during many instances of my employment history. Just because you're called the leader, doesn't mean that you are responsible for the success of the company. I always wondered why a company so reveared for its product would declare bankrupsy...mismanagement perhaps?

Sorry, couldn't pass up the opportunity to bash managers. ;)

Jeff, don't worry, you'll get the money in the form of my renewed membership.
