Demon Drop To Knott's?

Your most likely right, just bummin a bit here.

Hydra was at least an OK replacement for hercules, I am still just upset that they took out laser and left a giant empty field.

I also don't understand the point of adding a drop ride to a park that already has one, either Knotts or Dorney. Why not install it at a park that doesn't have one.

It just somewhat feels like cedar fair is not becoming the next six flags. Ride rotation policies, dumping large coasters in parks but ignoring others.. it just all feels so familiar in a way.

Confirmed..........

Maybe the reason that michigans adventure did not get the ride is because they may be getting a s&s in the next year or so. Just a thought.

It would not make sense to add 2 of the same type rides within a few years of eachother.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Who makes that ride? Intest-amin or BM?

Sounds more like a Dinn and Summers design to me....

Thinking back I realize I got the chance to ride quite a few 1st gen Freefalls, and i remember always thinking that Demon Drop was the best of 'em. IMO, it seems to have the smoothest stop and the least clunky transitions.

Isn't it Freefall no. 2 ? (With the one now removed from SFOT being the first ever?) It certainly caused a sensation when it debuted.

SFOT and SFMM had freefalls one and two, both opening in 1982. The following year a whole slew of them opened so there's no telling who's was third. If I remember correctly they opened at SFOG, Great Adventure, both Mariott GAs, Cedar Point, AstroWorld and possibly Galaxyland (West Edmonton).

Does Galaxyland still have their ride?

IMO, saying it's dumb to get another drop ride is no different than saying it's dumb to get another steel coaster that is more thrilling than the one they already have.

Galaxyland replaced their Freefall with an S&S Double Shot in 2002.

^^ What about less thrilling?

Seriously, does ANYONE find an original Intamin drop ride LESS thrilling than an S&S drop ride, regardless of whether you mind the banging around on the Intamin ride? To me, an S&S drop is to Hydra as an old Intamin drop is to Superman SFNE. One thrills, the other is kind of boring.

^ I do.

I would much rather ride any S&S tower than a first generation Intamin tower. I definitely think the S&S rides are more intense and thrilling. Throw in the factor that S^S tower ride dynamics don't end at the bottom of every drop, they're also more interesting and exciting overall.

Yeah, compared to S&S, I find nothing thrilling about 1st-gen Intamin drop towers, either.

I find the 1st-gen Intamins much more thrilling than the S&S drop towers, but I find the Space Shot towers to be more thrilling than the drop towers, but not quite as thrilling as the Intamin 1st-gens. In fact, I prefer any Intamin drop tower to an S&S tower (combo or single program). Drop Zone at KI was the first ride to genuinely scare me in a long time.

I don't think the issue with this is which drop ride is more thrilling or that there will be 2 drop rides in one park. I think the issue is going to be that people will see a clunky old ride being billed as new. It will be pretty apparent that this is a refurbished ride even to non-enthusiasts. Not sleek or shiny in any way.

Also, the same argument with people at Knott's not happy because SFMM used to have this ride could be used here as well, just substitute with Dorney and SFGAdv. I wouldn't be surprised if people thought it was Freefall from SFGAdv.

I don't have a Intamin or S&S preference as I rarely ride drop rides because I refuse to stand in line for a 2 second ride. That being said, I'm glad this is coming to Dorney, less people in lines of rides I like. :)

I am actually happy about the Dorney news-Dorney way closer to me than Knotts! :)

I wonder why the change of heart? Maybe CF decided cheaper to send to Dorney?

18 truck loads huh? That isn't bad. I wonder how many of the chunks will be oversize (over 13'6" tall) and overweight (the whole truck and load exceeding 80,000 lbs (40 US tons).

I would imagine all the sections are being completely dismantled into beams for the transport.
