Yeah,we ended up losing our proposed stand up at SFA because of Batwing arghh.

------------------
look at the pattern here, haunted river closes, typhoon seacoaster opens, diamond Falls closes, blizzard river opens, maybe when they close the shockwave, SFA will get their stand up! It was never cancelled BTW, just postponed, we still could get it!

never met a coaster I didn't ride (except Junior Geminii) :(

From the looks of the site plan it was cancelled, why'd they put Batwing on the list as attraction #37 when they could've listed it as attraction #36?

BTW how is construction of PBR going now that weather conditions have improved?

If you wish to see Shockwave in it's original colors, look here. These are pics from the 1986, 1987 and 1992 seasons.

John,

Are you sure the third photo is of Shockwave? The reason I ask is because the shot of the tower in the background of the first photo should be able to be seen in the third photo as well.

Re: Shaggy's Third Shockwave photo. I agree with Sean that is either KI's or CW's standup. Neither area from where that shot was taken is/was really acessible to the GP. So I don't get any clues to tell me for sure which one it is. Make sense that it is not KD's becaue the photo say new for 1986.

It is unfortunate that the park removed King Cobra, not to mention more than 30 attractions in all.

While King Cobra was, indeed, the first U.S. stand-up, it also marked the 100th year of the rollercoaster.

Having known and worked with Ruth Voss and many others from Kings Island's Golden Years, the park has been on a progressive downward spiral since the onslaught of Hollywood coming in and taking over with poorly planned additions and constant removals without consideration to its history.

For those who reside on Planet Hollywood, I'm sure you hop up and down for all the mindless creations that have transpired along with Q-TV blaring over background music and screaming riders, an unforgivable sensory overload. I find it additionally saddening that the over-priced fees are such an acceptable means to provide additional funding to the registered trademark owners of what's now gracing the interiors of a once-great place to play.

Sorry, kids, it's not the same clean, friendly, and SAFE environment it once was. I wish you all peace in attending. Know that change is good when change is placed beside that which made one great. The removal of King Cobra further solidified Paramount Parks as the worst park operator globally.
