Deja-Vu and the "UGLY" wooden platform.

Well I am sure most of you know that SFGAm built a wooden platform for easy access to unload guests in the event the train valleys again(which we know will happen):).

Did SFMM and SFOG have these platforms built on their DV's?

I think so Chitown, but I'm pretty sure the other 2 have steel ones.

Just so you know joey isch, I am not referring to the catwalk that leads up into the cobra roll. This new wooden platform was constructed right above the station house incase the train valleys between the loop and the cobra roll.

Now that's preventative maintenance of the scariest kind. Instead of trying to fix the ride so it won't valley anymore.....they construct a special platform to offload passengers because they know such a structure will be needed again........and again........and again.........

Just makes you wanna cry, doesn't it? :(

Isn't it pretty sad when the major noticeable feature on a ride is the way to evacuate riders in the case of an expected "unexpected" ride malfunction? I really hope one of these things is not going to come to SFA... ever.

i havent rode it yet but i seen it and it looks really fun

u guys tell me is it as fun as it looks and how does it feel being pulled up slowly strait up?

Putting up a paltform like that doesn't make any sense. If the thing valleys like it does, fix it..lol. How much brains does it take to realize that? I know that if I was at the helm of Six Flags I would sue that pants off of Vekoma not for money, but to fix the ride so it runs the way it is supposed to run. That is too much downtime for 1 ride. I see the ride ending up like Power Dive, SBNO for a couple of years and then tearing it out. don't get me wrong, I Love Deja-Vu. I'm just really irritated that noone has an once of brains on Vekoma's side on how to fix the ride. The paltform is a good idea IN CASE it valleys, but, my god someone fix it so it doesn't happen that much!

Please people. It's better to have the platform there than to not have it there. You all act like they're not trying to fix the rides. It's not like they're purposely saying, "We going to piss all the enthusiasts off by shutting this ride down a lot." Yes, it was a poorly designed ride. Yes, it breaks down a lot. But Six Flags is not installing these platforms as an alternative to fixing the rides.

It's like saying, "You shouldn't put a band-aid on a cut, because you shouldn't have gotten the cut in the first place."

Be a little more realistic. Please.

...cheaper than trying to get Vekoma to re-engineer the rides at this point....

No......Six Flags is installing those platforms as a "just in case" measure until Vekoma decides to get off their butts and fix this coaster right. And it's really sad that SF should have to do that. SF is not at fault here. They are doing what they can to safeguard their guests. Vekoma is the problem.

My bad Chitown, I thought you meant the cat-walk.

Vekoma isn't going to help fix the ride until Six Flags pays for it - and Six Flags isn't going to pay for it until Vekoma fixes the ride. So now everyone's at a standstill and who's at fault? That's not really for me to decide, but I think both companies share responsibility for the ride's downtime.

If Vekoma was so worried about being paid for the ride, they would have made damn sure the thing worked. No ride is 100% foolproof, but this thing is running like a rebuilt '74 Pinto in a car lot full of Corvettes, you know? I don't blame SF for not finishing payment on it. Would you finish paying for a product that broke down every single day?

And its not like a car , T.V., DVD player, etc. where if it didnt work you could just return it to the place that you purchased it at.

Does anyone have a link showing that Six Flags hasnt made full payment or that Vekoma flat out refuses to help fix it? I would like some proof of this.

Folks, if this platform is made of wood it could be a sign that this is a TEMPORARY fix and that a more PERMANENT solution to the valleying problem will come later.

Don't forget "Operation Graduation" June 1st @ SRM - bring Pat Koch a graduation card! See Coasterbuzz News for details.

I think Six Flags made a large mistake when they installed 3 of the same prototype in the same year. Typically, a prototype is installed then more of the ride comes later after it has worked successfully. I am sure Six Flags is extremely frustrated with these rides right now.

Top Gun: TJC flights - Approx. 250 (64 in 2002)

They installed four of them. Three at Six Flags parks in America, the other, Movie World in Spain.

Chitown by now I'm sure the park has already payed for the ride.

OK lets get this striaght. Six Flags pretty much built and engineered that ride, because after the other two went in, Vekoma went bankrupt. They couldn't afford to put their rides in or fix them so they pretty much told SF Inc. to "do it yourself" with no implied warranty because it wasn't put in and finished by Vekoma. Well, things didn't go very well and SF screwed up the assembly. Thats one reason that Vekoma isn't going to help on this issue.

If you want to argue on this point fine, but its true.
