Defuctional Rides

Wondering how you intend to show how defunct rides affect customers. Do you mean like "Gee, that was a great ride, why did they get rid of it." OR "Gee, that Hercules coaster sucked, I'm glad they got rid of it." OR "Hey I just tripped over an old piece of Whirlwind."

I agree with what Mamoosh said. If you want to limit your report to talking about defunct rides-- why parks decide to get rid of certain rides, or why certain rides lost their popularity-- and how that affects the customers, that's one thing. But getting into things like the history of amusement parks I think gets too broad. Don't forget, there are many pretty large books out there devoted to just that subject.

I think it would be a better report if you talk extensiviely about one idea than write one or two paragraphs about a lot of different subjects. You'll be all over the place and it won't seem very coherent.

Better yet, pick a specific park and a specific ride and do a report on that.
Thanks for the advice, defunct rides are only one of the topics of discussion, its more or less, just a smaller portion of the project (report). I'm doing it like from an economical perspective, how its helped, evolved, how defunct rides (being torn down and building something new) also helps the amusement industry.

Out of curiosity...where are you going to find sources to support your paper? You can't use what any of what is said here on CB as a source...your teacher won't accept that.
No, No, No, I know that, plus this is a forum site, she wouldn't accept others opinions, I'd use history sites, financial records, interviews, anything worth noting. To further stay on subject I'll focus on Geauga Lake or Cedar Point as the main examples for my report.
How long is this report going to be? (or have to be)

old site, not updated in a while, but pretty informative and interesting. It lists most defunct parks in the U.S. (I'm sure they are missing some) and several of the major listings have pictures of defunct rides. If you want something about finances go to Idora Park section and it shows pictures of SBNO buildings and coasters 14 years after it closed. Warning to anyone with a soft spot for the wildcat coaster, the pics are sad.http://www.defunctparks.com/parks/OH/Idora/wc11co~1.jpg

Today the mad scientist can't get a doomsday device, tomorrow it's the mad grad student!
Thanks! The report is supposed to be 4-6 pages in MLA Documentation.
