Calling Craig! The time has come to start your park. ;)

I'd totally visit CreHo park!
You have your chance at a Bisch Rocco, although you might need to get a faster motor. The one at Erieview will be up for auction on Tuesday October 3rd if I recall correctly.

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

Erieview is about an hour from where I work, Matt. If you need a place to stay for the auction, give me a buzz.

LOL, John. Thanks for the help. Now, who wants to fund this venture?

Doh! I have to work that day, assuming I survive skydiving with Nasai that weekend. ;)

Hey John. You don't travel much. You must have money. How 'bout you buy them for us all to enjoy!

Erieview's Scooter motor needed repair or replace...lots of stuff there that would be nice to have, though... ;)

Just to give Matt more links.... ;)http://nortonauctioneers.com/upcoming.htm

These guys are apparently THE people to see for auctioning off rides, parks, etc.

Some of the bigger parks should consider having TWO sets of flying scooters. The reason: capacity. This is a family-friendly ride but the capacity is so low that many larger parks don't bother with them. The cost is not a major issue but there can be the concern about the footprint for two of them. Nevertheless, if a park has the space, a pair of the rides could make sense.

I would like to see Idlewild or GL acquire the Erieview ride. This would be a nice addition for either of those parks. GL needs more family flats and a ride like this would be a nice fit for Idlewild.

A few of us were going to purchase the old Euclid Beach flying scooters for $4,000 before we found out that Dick Knoebel got his hands on them a few days earlier. But I don't think that flying scooters normally go for that kind of price- a new set from Larson probably costs between $150K and $200K.

From my experience, the capacity issue is a non-issue, as most flat rides don't ever have long lines anyway, BUT I wouldn't complain about two sets of flyers in the same park or one giant set as long as they're still snappy. ;) *** Edited 8/23/2006 5:01:44 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

I prefer to see them at Wyandot Lake. :)
Back when KW put the Flying Scooter into Lost Kennywood, the lines got quite long because of the ride's low capacity. Meanwhile, LC had a Top Spin that was usually running mostly empty.

The solution: Swap the rides. KW, which is more of a thrill park and is bigger, got the Top Spin and LC which is less thrill oriented and smaller, got the Flying Scooter.

I do believe that a Flying Scooter would be better suited to Idlewild than to KW. As for LC, they got a major thrill ride this year but unfortunately, they are unlikely to see another for several years while the focus once again turns to water.

The LC Top Spin did go to Kennywood (where it operates at King Kahuna) but the scooters were at LC before that ride left. The scooters were originally near the entrance behind the train station. When the waterpark expanded and needed that space, the scooters were removed and resurfaced a few years later on the site of the Top Spin. Not sure when they originally left Kennywood but it was before the Top Spin left LC.
FYI - I believe the Euclid Scooters were the ones that operated at Old Indiana. It was one of the best maintained rides there. I met the Scooters purchaser at auction (from Kentucky). Apparantly he never reconstructed the ride.

Another FYI, MANY rides at Old Indiana were from Euclid Beach.

The Scooters at Carowinds seem to be overlooked by most of the park-goers, as they are tucked away in the kiddie area and had one of the shortest lines of anything in the park on the crowded days I was there back in July. So I guess it depends on the park and how well the ride is presented to the people.

Yeah, I miscommunicated that. I only want one. "These" was refering to additional goodies. I haven't ridden an Explorer in at least 15 years. Those things rock! Gator got to ride on a couple of weeks ago. :p

What is an Explorer? I was at The Ohio State Fair if you could describe what it is/ what was next to it? I really enjoyed the Move It and somewhat the Power Surge for the first time. I also rode my first Fireball today! at our county fair.

Hang Ten at the Ohio State Fair was the Explorer.

Here is an example of one:
